Are you gonna install iOS 8 GM?

Downloading the GM right now for my iPhone.

Really want to update as soon as and see what it is like.

Hopefully iOS 8 GM won't require iTunes 12 to install. I'm guessing it won't as I think iTunes 12 will be Yosemite only but you never know...

You don't need iTunes 12 to install. When iOS 8 Beta 5 came out, I installed using iTunes 11. Same will apply.

with iOS 7, the GM required a new version of iTunes to use. You could do the upgrade to iOS 7 but you could not restore an iTunes backup because the current version of iTunes at the time did not support iOS 7. Even tho it worked in all the betas.

Finally installed the GM and apart from a few minor tweaks with App Icons (e.g. Clock) and a load of new wallpaper it's basically iOS 8 beta 5.
It may just be me but it feels slightly more responsive.

May be a stupid question but if I update to the GM, I won't be able to sync any music or anything without iTunes 12 correct?

I keep hearing about errors using iTunes 12 for restores/updates. Can anyone confirm itunes 11.3 works for the iOS 8 GM?

From other posts around here, the GM will work fine with iTunes 11 (I believe that's the last version using Mavericks). However there are some problems with iTunes 12 and updating to the GM.

I'll be waiting for September 17th, not because I don't want the latest and greatest but because that's when third party developers will be able to release their iOS 8 apps. The main win for me in iOS 8 the extensions, widgets, custom keyboards etc.

Yea, but if you have iOS 8 already installed, on the 17th you just go into the App store..... :)

Purring like a kitten with my secretly downloaded iOS 8 GM on iTunes 11.4! Woohoo!

Can't wait to get an alternative keyboard now! Guess we haveta wait until iOS 8 officially launches 9/17?

Care to share a download link?

LMAO! That was ice cold man! With that said, I am rocking the GM now too. Kinda sucks because half the new stuff you can't use. iCloud Drive and new keyboards come to mind.

It looks like Siri Integration with Shazam has been removed. My Siri just says Ah....you're not listening to any music.

Wow that sucks because that's a very useful feature that I used in the beta.

On 17 Sept Apple's servers will likely be congested and your upgrade may return errors. I'd suggest you upgrade either before 17 Sept if you are a registered developer (or if you have other means to get the GM seed), or just wait until 18 Sept or later.

I installed the GM and am way happy about it. There are no widgets are anything yet... obviously. But I love the new additions to messaging. The new keyboard is leagues better than the previous iteration.

It's faster than iOS 7 on my 5S, and i feel like if I don't upgrade that this update will suit me just fine for a while. It feels... not like a total revamp, but it feels good.

Yeah, i tested this out and, indeed, it sucks.

I tried going into Settings, but to no avail.

I ended up installing iOS 8 yesterday and it works fine. Smooth and stable. I do have a developer's account. But lately I've been focusing on school and HTML/CSS so I took a break from iOS development learning.

The reason why I was waiting was because I had my 5s jailbroken but I decided that since I'm getting the 6+ I might as well just get use to stock iOS 8 lol.
