You are so wrong. The problem with leather during workouts is not water resistance but chemical resistance. Your sweat is NOT only a water. Mainly it is sodium chloride and there is also some other organic chemicals like urea;)

That's why I am torn between elastometer and milanese loop. I am afraid that elastometer is not comfy since it is an artificial band. On the other hand milanese loop is great but we don't know how strong is the magnet. And I won't buy an extra band for workouts because I know that you'll get tired with the changing of the bands...believe me.

Okay.

Doesn't make any sense, it's what the better sports watches use. Fluorestomer is not cheap plastic.

I'm going with the Space Black SS + a black sport band which I'll leave on nearly 24/7/365 so that I don't ding up the link bracelet (thereby preserving resale value). I'll rock the link bracelet from time to time (a nice dinner with the wife, meetings with clients, etc.), but it'll just be in the way during the work week. I think the Space Black SS with a black sport band will look nice.

What's the point of not wearing it if it's going to be obsolete in a few short years? It's not like a Rolex that you can wear for many years and pass down to kids.

But I see you're going to sell it maybe next year. Seems wasteful though.

I hear ya. My guess is I'll sell the Watch within the next 12 - 16 months. I enjoy 21st century gadgetry. Purchasing with a plan to resell enables me to continuously try/enjoy the latest and greatest. I've had every iPhone, every Apple TV, every iPad, nearly every Harmony remote, multiple computer speakers, headphones, Blu-ray (and HD-DVD) players...

And I often subsidize the cost of new gadgets with gift cards, credit card rewards points, etc. So while I may be wasting some money, it's certainly no more wasteful than holding on to a gadget that dies and ends up in a landfill. And I pass it along to someone else (often in mint condition) for them to enjoy at a better price. Win win!

And if I were to buy a Rolex, I'd wear it every day and not worry about wear and tear. Totally different category in my mind.

A better approach if you always want to have the latest and greatest is to sell the v1 with the Sport band, buy the v2 with the Sport band and reuse the link bracelet. You'll recoup more of the cost selling the base model.

This may not work with the Space Black though.

Animals that have been dead for millions of years... It is not a dead animal skin of an animal that was killed purely for its skin.

They are both dead animal products. One day you'll realize the fallacies in your cute little vegan lifestyle.

I'm getting the black leather loop, and planning on buying a white sports strap as well, mainly for exercise as I really want to use the watch for exercise but no way I'm wearing a leather strap for that, and as an added perk I reckon it'll still look good anyway so would be able to wear it when I fancied a change or a less formal look.

I admire your conviction. Don't let others trivialize it.

I'm planning to buy the 42mm Apple Watch Sport with a black band. My wrist will fit the M/L band best and then I'm hoping to swap the S/M black band for a blue one on the bandswapper.com website.

I'll be buying the AW with a leather loop band initially; however, I plan to buy a sport band soon after to supplement wearing the leather one everyday, thereby reducing it's wear and tear. I could say I'm getting it for when I exercise but those instances unfortunately are not that often. :p

Do you guys think swapping the bands often will depreciate the quality of the locking mechanism of the watch/band.

Maybe one day you'll realize that some of the biggest environmental issues are due to the use of animal products. Leather is one of the biggest reasons for rain forest deforestation.

You can't say stuff like that. The device you are posting this from (and the electricity it needs), the desk you are sitting at, the furniture in your house, your actual house, your car, everything in your life was most likely manufactured and produced in an environmentally destructive way.

If you really want to be about what you preach, go live off the grid in a hut in the woods.

I plan on using the sport band primarily for excercing and traveling. For daily use I'm getting the Click adapter for $25 (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1516117990/click-the-first-watch-band-adapter-for-apple-watch) and an inexpensive leather band for $50. I'll build my collection of bands to use with new Apple watches it's time to upgrade.

So obviously if someone lives in the modern world, they should be as wasteful and destructive as they can be? Got it. Screw the recycling programs, screw buying environmentally friendly products and screw minimizing environmental impact where you can.

The Milanese loop is SS so you should in theory be able to wear it for exercising and rinse it afterward. Leather loop is a no go as none of the leather bands are water resistant.

I'm going to get the milanese and don't plan to buy a separate sports band - I have a rolex now that I wear while working out and I can just rinse/wipe off now. The same should apply to the milanese as well....

No, but don't go parading around online like a smug, holier-than-thou tool telling people that your entry-level taste in ethical consumerism somehow makes you "better" than them.

go change the battery in your prius or drink a kale shake or something.

All I said is I don't wear dead animal skins, if you take offense to that, then that is your problem

I bought the black classic buckle for daily/work wear and a black sport band should I find myself someplace where the leather band will get sweaty.
