I'm leaning toward the 4.7, but it depends on the specs. If the 5.5 has more compelling features, that's what I will get. I also may end up selling my iPad Air if I buy the 5.5. I honestly don't use it enough to justify owning it, but selling a 64GB wifi model would more than likely incur more loss than I am willing to accept.

That's something to think about. I wonder if the 5.5" iPhone will eat into the sales of the iPad at all.

The ONLY reason I even use my iPad is because of the comfortably large screen. I can do EVERYTHING my iPad does on my phone too!

I have a brand new 5S, no need at all for me to spend any money on a phone. People that have to have the latest and greatest, especially if their current phone is working fine and looks fine is all about being materialistic. I'm not a materialistic person at all and don't have to buy something just because it is new. Spend that extra money you are going to buy your new phone with on a homeless kid. Buy them some new clothes and get them a hot meal. I bet you'll feel much better after doing that.

What is wrong with having the latest tech and feeding the homeless?

If you don't want the new iphone, that's fine, but it's not a reason to look down on others who do.

5.5...

Phones are for more than just calls and texts nowadays; its basically a portable computer...

held off getting a tablet for a large iPhone... basically a pocket sized tablet...

4.7". Because it's the perfect size for me. 5.5" is way too big.

With this logic why didn't you buy an iPhone 2G and use the other 300$ you put out for your 5S on a homeless kid?

4.7" Space Gray. Unless for some stupid reason apple makes the 4.7" basically an iPhone 5S with a bigger screen, which none of the leaks really point to.

5.5". I've waited years for a big screen iPhone. Give me the biggest they offer, and I'm HAPPY!

Obviously we haven't seen them yet, but most like the smaller version. I'm fine with a 4.7 but 5.5 is too big for me personally. Although they are seemingly treating the larger version as a 'pro' with advantageous perks over the smaller one; I wish they wouldn't do that. Or I hope they don't at least... I guess a lot of it comes down to space and what they can squeeze in until there are no bubbles left in the fish tank. But I don't want to purchase the 4.7 and it feel subpar compared to the other device they offer simply because it's smaller.

You wouldn't be subpar... Don't compete with the Joneses, just get the one that works best for your day-to-day use.

Actually fact is as a serious mobile computing and communications engineer, I get several new phones each year on the platforms of my choice.

Although I still order and enjoy new MBPR & MBA laptops each year, this will be the first year I've found zero interest in an iPhone, a rather revealing position.

Conversely Android from version 4.2 forward has become my absolute favorite by a wide margin, another change I never would have predicted just two years ago. Androids expanded capabilities trounce iOS limitations for all I do.

For basic web enabled smartphones iPhone is a perfect simple starter phone for the masses. Thereby explaining their popularity.

In addition iPhones are perceived as cool and have a certain cache the women and many men love. They do make an attractive fashion accessory, something that Android will never be perceived as.

Fact is if you're a serious mobile engineer and want to be paid for your efforts, you'd get an iPhone and develop for iOS.

If both realized at the same time undoubtedly the 5.5 Bigger battery, Better spec supposedly, Camera. . .etc It's a no brainer for me. If they aren't released at the same time I'll get the 4.7 first then the 5.5 once it's released.

Here's hoping tomorrow they both are announced and will be ready!

The 5.5 May have a bigger battery, but that doesn't necessarily mean it'll be a longer battery. The specs will probably end up being the same unless they want to compete against themselves.

I'm pretty sure that I'll get the 4.7 (in gold). But if both sizes are released at the same time and the 5.5 has better specs, then I'll go with that size.

So, you're not spending money on a phone and data plan? Honestly, very few people truly "need" a smartphone. The money that you're spending on your plan could feed a lot of starving children around the world. Seems to me that people who don't own smartphones could argue that you are materialistic. Even if you're not materialistic, you're certainly sanctimonious. How's the view up on that high horse?

I'm getting the 5.5"

In my dream world, I'd be able to test both the 5.5 inch and 4.7 inch in the Apple Store just to be sure which one I want but there's no way I'd get the new iPhone soon if I didn't pre-order or camp for it.

Fortunately, I don't have to have a new one on release day. Been there, done that. Fought that war.

I'll wait until they're both in the stores and I'll make an informed decision and not buy one based on just size. There are several factors I'll be looking at.

If 5.5 is the only one that has 2GB RAM then I will go for that.

But 4.7 seems like the ideal size for me.

Foe those thinking there will be a 5.5 inch model. ..

Where are the YouTube video leaks with working 5.5 inch model? Don't u find it strange no working 5.5 inch model leaked?

Today is announcement and surely someone has a working 5.5 inch phone by today.

This

But regardless, the 4.7 is already a bigger increase than the 4 to 5 ".5 jump, and I want to enjoy that model first to see if the bigger screen is even necessary (I have 3 mini's in the house already... 1 is LTE even). If the 5.5" is all that, then I can always get one later after the hype dies down.

It should be EASIER to get (possibly even pre-order) the 4.7" too, especially if the 5.5" supply is "constricted" (which always makes people crazy for some reason. I swear if I was releasing a product I would hype it like crazy and then only release a handful of them at launch... but I digress).

Yay!
