What I don't get is why does it matter? It's my choice. Does it bug you and others that much?

I am actually liking the popularity :)

As others with the tiny 1 dead pixel, or the not noticeable black part of the screen or pressure points the list goes on, if I am not satisfied I have the right like others to return it
I would return my iPhone for a dead pixel for sure, because it's an obvious issue, noticeable in every day usage.
But you are speaking about a totally different matter here ... to return a working phone just because of the foundry that made its SoC.

Interesting thought of what is a good manager.

OCD owners want their phones to be perfect and the best, are therefore more likely to upgrade to every new model released, and more willing to spend their money on premium (64, 128GB, Apple accessories).

Which of the two managers practice will make more sales in a long run?
The OCD people are going to have multiple returns even with future purchases , so it's not a customer I'd like to keep

I'm 100% certain people have done a lot worse and scammed apple before.

Oh, I've got one!!
I saw someone returned a pair Apple Earphones after exchanging it with a pair of eBay knockoffs. I would tell because the earphones are visible from the transparent packaging. The adapter of that open-box was different looking from all the sealed ones. That was in bestbuy.

Wrong answer, from the point of view in maximizing profits. Retail 101 - you don't pick your customers, you maximize them.

I couldn't exchange my phone here if I wanted to. My carrier doesn't allow it. I too got the bs inferior Sammy chip. My thing is, I spent the same amount of money as the next person. I'd like my hardware to be the same whether its 2% better battery or 20%. In my opinion, the reason people keep finding these 'gates' every year is because of how Apple presents its marvelous engineering during their Keynote events. Sure its wonderful engineering, but its really shoddy quality control.

Why should it matter to your carrier if you want another phone? If you are not happy with it,you should be allowed to get another.

Carriers here in Japan aren't like those in the States. There's no such thing as exchanges, restocking fees, upgrade after a year offers, and whatever else American carriers offer to their customers. Of course insurance and Apple Care are available, but only during the initial sale. I had to completely pay for my 5-month old Galaxy S6 edge before switching over to the new iP6S.

Thanks for this information i had no idea how the carriers, in other countries handled items like exchanges.

Folks the reason the Samsung chip has slightly less battery is it can run at higher clock for longer before throttling because of 14nm process. So more consistent high performance which means less battery. TSMC is better battery because it has to throttle more hence battery savings. I don't live in a jungle so I'm happy with my Samsung even if it means plugging it in a little more. I feel the need for speed. Lol.

The more i keep reading in this thread and many other threads here,i am glad i bought the older iPhone6 and will wait till next year see what the iPhone7 will be.

The more I keep reading this thread the more I believe that people have some serious issues. I wonder what these people would do if a report comes out saying that the TSMC chips have a different issue not related to this? I truly believe that these people would go on a rampage.

That's not your decision to make as a store manager. Apple has corporate policies around customer retention and the like.
IMHO Apple has he best customer satisfaction in the business because it stands behind its products and gives it customer the benefit of the doubt.
After a store visit they send out the customer satisfaction survey. If you as a store manger get enough negative surveys...... You won't be a store manger for long.

Can Apple find out which chip is in the phone without opening the box?

Can you imagine if they open 5 boxes in a row and all of them still had the Samsung Soc chip?

It would be a nightmare for Apple if many people go and exchange their phones in order to get the TMSC chip.

Apple has released a statement acknowledging a 2-3% increase in battery life with the TSMC chip. My guess is that percentage is downplayed by about 10% at least, not because I have done the test, or because I have both chips, but because Apple claimed only 9 people had issues with bending 6 pluses. We all know that there was way more then 9 cases, but because Apple downplayed it people accepted it.

if they admitted a 2 hour longer battery life (which these tests showed with the TSMC) people would go ape **** and it would cost quite a bit to make everyone with Samsung chips happy, by swapping them for TSMC.

I am on the fence truth be told, here in Canada I cannot return the phone as I have gone over the 30min talk time, here we either have 30 min talk time or 15 days whichever comes first. But I imagine if I was to go to the Apple Store and say I want a replacement because I have a Samsung chip I'd have a fight on my hands (I would get what I wanted believe me) but the hassle wouldn't really be worth it, it's almost like I would have to make up another reason like battery life, random reboots etc.

Edit: now typing this I think I will return it via online through Apple care, claiming battery life. Which is the truth I am getting 1hr-1hr 30min less than I was on my 6
You are really really bad at reading comprehension aren't you ?

Exactly! People need to read up at Anandtech.com regarding this issue. It's a whole lot more than saying that Samsung A9 chips suck.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/9708/analyzing-apple-statement-for-tsmc-and-samsung-a9

Personally I have a TSMC chip but I'm also rocking a battery case that more than doubles my run time. If the Samsung chip runs slightly faster at more sustained time periods I would rather have that. When I had my Note 4 and Gear VR that was the number one problem; the phone would overheat and require a cool down period. I would rather game longer and take the slight battery hit (I had spare batteries anyway) vs lags in performance for a slight increase in battery life.

Some of you people need to stop having knee jerk reactions.

Remember ipooed is the same person who suggested that the long indexing time might be a hardware issue.

Apple said the devices have a 2 to 3 percent variance

Some people creating an assumption that they meant between chips

No you cannot.

People just don't understand that there are tolerances to almost everything produced especially electronics with various semiconductors. Back in my overclocking days even the week that the cpu was produced could affect how much overclocking headroom you have. Manufactures could implement improvements during the lifetime of the chip at any given moment.

Wh

why does it matter that I will be exchanging the phone? Does it hurt you? Or do you just need something to pick at? Really it has nothing to do with you or others, we are all given choices everyday and just because someone chooses differently than you would/have its fun to call me a child? I kinda take it with a grain of salt, as you probably need to use forums to laugh at people cause you don't have the balls to do it to people in real life.

It does not matter that you exchange the phone. It does matter how you go about it and how you treat others.

What Apple should have done is put the tmsc in the 6s and all the samsungs in the plus to be consistent and this never would have been an issue.

Trust me. That would not stop people "here" from making returns. People would then automatically assume that the Samsung chip is better and cause iPhone 6S owners to swap them for 6S plus models. That could actually end up being worst especially when the Plus model has OIS, higher res display and bigger battery. You would essentially be adding CPU to the list. Heck; I would expect 4 times the returns compared to this.

You'll never want to upgrade again because the more sophisticated the phone gets the more "problems" that could arrise. Plus people on the forums will always complain.

I've returned only 1 iPhone 6s Plus 128GB and that's only because the box came smashed. T-Mobile ordered a replacement + they gave me $285 in credit towards the phone since they took almost 3 months to fix my bill. Once the replacement arrived I gave it a quick look over and slapped a screen protector and a solid case on it. Doesn't hurt that I got a TMSC though. :p

I am all for the case to protect the phones,i have a THULE tough case for my iPhone6. But as for the screen protection, unless one plans on cleaning their screen with sand,i see no need for a screen protector.
