One thing for people to realize when they first get the iPhone is that the filesystem is being indexed by spotlight and this will use up a lot of battery. However it's only your first time thing. Don't start panicking over your battery until after 48 hours.

Yeah, but most of us are 15 days out, so....

To save themselves sealed, retail stock it would be pertinent for them to get this information ASAP. Handing people Samsung chipped phones when they are exchanging to avoid this is folly on Apple's part. I'm sure they have a computerised record somewhere which tallies serial numbers with hardware information.

A few years ago when people were returning MB's with LG/ Samsung-gate; Apple never did disclose what components each box carried, even if they knew that one of the these would automatically trigger a return.

This whole Chipgate thing remind me of the video with the bear wanting an IPhone even though the salesman was trying to convince her it didn't make a difference which phone she bought based on the feature set she wanted.

Salesman: Here you go, here's your brand new Rose Gold IPhone 6S

Bear: Is that the one with the TSMC A9 that runs cooler and gets 18 hours of battery life to match my 18-hour bra?

Salesman: Er, no, I believe this one has the Samsung chip.

Bear: I want a TSMC

Salesman: This is the Samsung chip. At most you'll notice a 3% difference in battery life.

Bear: Idon'tcare.

Salesman: Look, it has a perfect even tone white display.

Bear: Idon'tcare

Salesman: Look, the Apple logo and the writing on the back are perfectly centered. Everybody cares about that! Do you know how many returns I've processed over crooked printing?

Bear: Idon'tcare

Salesman: Haven't you heard that there's a possibility the Samsung chip can run under heavier loads for a longer time without throttling?

Bear: Oh look, there is a Space Grey IPhone 6S. Does that one have the TSMC chip that can run for 18 hours to match my 18 Hour bra?

Salesman: Yes, but that's for Sprint. You asked for the AT&T model with Band 30 compatibility.

Bear: I'll take it. It has the TSMC chip with amazing 18 hour battery life to match the staying power of my 18 hour bra. I am a power user. I am up 18 hours using my iPhone nonstop. This matters much to me. I am spending much money on this. I deserve TSMC and Playtex.

18 hour bra, what the heck?:D

Wasn't TMSC chip Apple's first choice before turning to Samsung to help with production?

Interesting you mention that because I read the rumor that Apple was going to use a 16nm chip for the iPhone 7 which oddly enough is the same size as the TSMC model. Maybe thats a hint we will see a lot more TSMC chips in the future.....

I would return my iPhone for a dead pixel for sure, because it's an obvious issue, noticeable in every day usage.
But you are speaking about a totally different matter here ... to return a working phone just because of the foundry that made its SoC.

The OCD people are going to have multiple returns even with future purchases , so it's not a customer I'd like to keep

Speaking of OCD, for someone that is so upset about this thread and the fact that there are people talking about possibly exchanging their phones, you are awfully engaged. Did you come here just to slam people with your 30+ comments in this thread?

Rumors were that TSMC would use 16nm FF for Apple A9 and then 16 nm FF+ for Apple A10.

But they were able to ramp up production and instead used 16nm FF+ for A9.

This means that Apple A10 will probably use TSMC 16nm FF Turbo or 10nm...

18 hour bra, what the heck?:D
They were advertised heavily, pardon the expression, when I was a kid in the 70's. Apparently they are still around but not as popular. I remember asking my dad what happens to the lady's boobies if she wears the bra past 18 hours and he told me everything collapses and the whole shebang slides down to her ankles. I had quite the childhood.

He-heh. I could do with some 18 hour boxer shorts.

Actually Friday the 9th was Day 15. 9/25 counted as Day 1, gang. Count it for yourself...
I assume that is for the carrier. as they count the 25th as day 1 and technically the return day for carrier was a Thursday. But for Sim-free model on my receipt it says last day to return: Oct. 23, 2015, and I purchased it yesterday (9/9/15). So I guess they don't include the day you buy it I suppose.

For the 6S it's around 70% TSMC and 30% Samsung.
6S Plus is around (I think) 60% TSMC and 40 Samsung
Good because I have two 6s plus's coming in the mail. And I really want the TSMC but then if they were different, my boyfriend would have a Samsung and I would feel bad knowing its inferior.

After opening that pic.
I want to cry...

I was wrong, I edited that last post. Someone had posted a image with the ratio

I had the TSMC on my iPhone 6s but battery wasn't to par with the 6s plus. Returned it, just for curiosity of course checked the chip, and I'm on samsung's chip.

My presence on this forums, started well before your, and on this thread, is not your business...
I'm entitled to my opinion: people returning a perfectly working iPhone due to the presence of a Samsung SoC are insane.

I am all for the case to protect the phones,i have a THULE tough case for my iPhone6. But as for the screen protection, unless one plans on cleaning their screen with sand,i see no need for a screen protector.
Micro scratches will appear over time even if your 2 million miles away from sand. You can't see them with normal lighting unless you look but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Especially if you plan on selling your phone to people with OCD like on these forums...

I just lease my phone so these "Micro scratches" so it's not a real -matter for me. I just protect the iPhone6 because i am responsible for it. Also if and when Apple does have real new phone i might upgrade to it. so far i don't see any real reason to switch from the iPhone6.

It's hard to take anyone serious when they have i, Mac, Apple, Jobs, etc in the forum name, LOL
