Think about when it comes time to dump these 6s+ for the 7 plus or whatever they call it, think having a Samsung will bring less money on resale? It could.

Few really know about this but hey it's a possibility.

Not chance...The difference for a normal user is next to nothing. Actually I have been through 4 phones already so I have had both and I had better battery life on the Samsung unit. I think it all depends too who you sell it to. Gazelle and those places will care less. If you sell it privately which will obviously net you the most money you could throw it in as a selling point. I think aside from the forum can you imagine how many phones were sold and how many people don't have a clue there are two chips?

I sell my phone every 2 years and don't see making less. I always compare what others have sold for on eBay and I place a reserve. I will not be putting what chip I have. If someone wants to ask then not buy because of that then that's fine, but the majority of iPhone users either don't know about chipgate or don't care.

I have the Samsung chip but it's no big deal to me, I'm happy with it. I'm on the Apple plan so when my year is up they'll take it back for whatever the going rate is for all of them I'm sure.

When I said pass I meant pass a certain level. Like 140.

For somone like you who said the logic board of A9 Samsung version is the same as TSMC version should have IQ below 80. You said "Your lack of knowledge on semiconductors and how they're manufactured is humorous.", and you proved yourself fits this description very well.

Most people review tech before they buy it so I think that quite a lot of folk will be aware of 'chipgate'. If given the choice of TSMC then yes, why wouldn't they be more preferable. If we could all choose now we'd go for that option wouldn't we?

I see a lot of uninformed buyers; especially people buying used gadgets. My husband is about to buy a new iPhone and haven't even heard of chip gate. I really think most people besides tech geeks and mac rumors don't know about this.

Nobody outside this thread knows or cares about this right now, let alone in a year or two's time when used 6S's hit the market en masse, at which point probably 99.9% of all the handsets out there will probably be Samsung anyway.

Loads of tech and mobile review sites, not to mention national newspapers, have done articles on 'chipgate'. Only those who watch nothing but X-Factor and Keeping Up With The Kardashians will be unaware of it.

Which is a lot of people. No one I know read tech/mobile reviews even my coworkers in the semiconductor business.

It has been in every newspaper here in the UK too. You'd have to be pretty switched off from events outside your own social life to be unaware of it.

Exactly - that's most people. Most iPhone users even. Outside of this weird bubble of tech blogs and forum trolls this means precisely nothing to the vast majority of people who will be shopping for a used 6S down the line.

Believe it or not outside of these forums a lot of people don't know or care about this. I listen to news radio everyday and mainly keep up on political events. If it wasn't for me finding this forum because I was trying to resolve something I would've never known about it.

I'm in the uk, perhaps all my friends and family are totally disconnected and self obsessed or whatever, I can promise you none of them know or care about this. At all.

I never mentioned anyone being obsessed or even bothered about it, just aware. The story has been in every newspaper.

You'd be surprised (perhaps not) at how many people only know what's going on in their own town and on So You Think You Can Dance.

Media needs sensational news every minute whether news is worth talking about or not.. And writing anything about Apple is a sure shot way of catching eyeballs.
Dude .. It doesn't matter whether people are aware of this issue or not.. First of all chip gate is not an issue.. And for few, even if it's an issue its not as big as the last year bendgate.. Thirdly, how does it matter while selling your phone ? Did you get a chance to check the chip of your phone before making your preference ?
