I'm a little worried about my MBP 2011... as I seem to come across more posts about this machine being flawed.
I've always harbored some weird suspicions, when my first MBP 2011 internal camera did not work. The notebook I had, for some reason, would not allow me to do facetime. No explanation why, just was faulty.
Then, I get a new MBP 2011 (circa July) and I kid you not, the logic board needed to be replaced. All kinds of hiccups were happening as I attempted to update software, etc, and finally I went to the "genius bar" and they kept the computer, and did diagnostic work, and ultimately told me the logic board was faulty..... which was $550 repair (thankfully falling within the year time frame. However, second big problem with the machine, not feeling good about the history, you know what I mean?
Also, the sudden motion sensor goes off even if I tap the machine. Very disconcerting, indeed. Whether the machine is "sleeping" or open, all I need to do is tilt the computer, and the hard drive is parking. Something in my gut tells me this is bad.
I feel like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. And of course, my year warranty has expired.
Pre-emptively, I tried to go into the genius bar and have them run a quick diagnostic before my "year" warranty expired, and I am telling you, the guy that helped me "Roy" from (North Point Mall, Alpharetta) sucked. Not only did he seem completely disinterested in what I was trying to tell him, but he claimed to have known NOTHING about the sudden motion sensor that I have been so concerned about.
"Roy" claimed he has never even HEARD OF IT!!!
The guy really did nothing to assuage any of the concerns that I have been feeling owning this MBP.
I'm really afraid I was unlucky enough to get in on a Mac lemon, whilst all the necessary upgrades and improvements have taken place after the early 2011 MBP models.
Don't get me wrong, I love apple, and have an older G4 powerbook, and I4 notebook, but I am thinking this batch (model and year) have flaws.
Not much I can do about it now, except hope that the machine doesn't die on me.
