So far a perfect, little laptop for me, already proven its worth as a little workhorse for off-hours work during vacation.

Now only need to test temps. with external screens (clam-shell/open on 5K/1080p screens respectively) and if it stays cool(ish) --> keeper!

Granted I come from using Intel so for me things that seem amazing to me are old news for you M1-people but..

I used an iPhone 18W charger to charge my laptop yesterday.

A teeny tiny iPhone charger.

And I was gaming while I was doing that! And it was still charging, not merely holding status quo.

Yes I am satisfied with my M2 Air :)

I am on day two with my M2 Air and so far, I love it. The design is better, the display is nicer, the keyboard is great, and it runs cool with normal day to day stuff just like my M1 did. It's speedy and runs great (10C/24GB/2TB).

If I had to nitpick, I would say the speakers aren't better as reported, at least not to my ears. The mids are a bit too pronounced giving it a somewhat flat feeling. The sound/music coming from them isn't as separated or layered as it is on the M1 Air. At least to my ears.

Also, and as I mentioned in another thread, I noticed that the seams on the M2 Air (where the bottom plate meets the bottom-sides of the MacBook) are a bit more prominent (to the touch) than they are on the new MacBook Pros, which share the same design. Not a big deal, but definitely something the fingers can feel/notice while handling the bottom of the Air. These seams are much more smooth on the new MacBook Pros, can't feel them, whereas on the M2 Airs, it's as if the bottom cover feels recessed a tiny bit - not even by a hair.
Did your Mac arrive on time or was it a little bit early?

My Starlight 8/10/16/512 was originally going to ship to store by August 5, then updated to July 28, but actually available on July 26.

Overall I'm very happy. I canceled a Midnight order due to the fingerprint complaints in reviews. Starlight is warm and understated, and shows no fingerprints from regular use. The laptop fits in the sleeve left behind by my outgoing M1 Air, and the system is very snappy for daily tasks. I love the feeling of picking it up and opening it with the flat sides, but that's probably a novelty that will wear off.

One thing to note: my wife, who uses a 15-inch MacBook Pro, held it and didn't think it was the Air, or very light. I wonder how many people will think the same due to the loss of the wedge shape.

It was due to arrive Jul 26 - Aug 2, then I got a UPS delivery date of 7/22, but there was some weird hold up in China for two days, and it eventually arrived on Monday, 7/25. I've never had an Apple order arrive on or after the estimated dates, usually a few days or a week earlier. Their estimates are always (smartly) very conservative.

Yes, I think it's mental perception due to the lack of the wedge shape.

When you put the M1 and M2 side by side, you realize that the M2 is actually thinner, and about the same height in the front/palm rest (when opened) so there is no difference in the typing experience - many thought there would be. And as a side note, the keyboard on my M2 is nicer than the keyboard on my M1. It has a more satisfying, springy typing feel with a more premium keystroke sound. There is no difference in key travel or quality versus the M1 or the new MacBook Pros as others have claimed.

Also, to me, holding the M2 feels more balanced and satisfying to hold - it feels very light, and it looks thinner in person than it does in review videos and photos (for some reason).

I agree, the M2 Air keyboard does feel better, but I can't explain why.

When Apple announced the M2 Air, I had been hoping for a weight under 2.5 lbs. The actual 2.7 is barely less than the 2,8 of the outgoing M1 Air, but the laptop appears chunkier/thicker (no wedge) which maybe makes it feel lighter than it actually is when picked up. Those Apple designers and their tricks...

Order: Silver/10/16/512/67W

Usage: Received it on Monday. Should have received it already last week on Wednesday but UPS messed up delivery.

Reasoning: First Mac. Life long MS Windows user, but own other Apple devices. My first smartphone was iPhone 4S and have been using iPhones ever since. I also have M1 iPad 11" with Apple Pencil and AirPods. Thought it's time to retire my old, cheap and crappy Dell laptop and get a Mac for the first time in my life.

Impressions: I'm blown away. I have always enjoyed the Apple ecosystem but owning a Mac has taken it to the next level. I can finally do things and be productive without constantly feeling a barrier between my computer and other devices. In the set-up alone I must have used the Universal Clipboard like a dozen times between my iPhone/iPad and the Mac. The Universal Control, all iCloud stuff, hand-off, continuity etc. etc. just WOW! This is some next level OS integration.

The speed of the machine is also nuts. Incredibly responsive and very fast load times for everything I need.

The build quality of the M2 Air is also in a category of its own. I know that Windows also has some premium-priced laptops so comparing it to my old and crappy Dell is unfair but nonetheless I have never used a computer of this build quality. Makes the switch even more impressive for me.

It will take some time for me to fully get used to using a Mac but I'm already catching up on using the MacOS command line and so far I've been able to find nearly everything I need through homebrew.

Verdict: I'm keeping the machine and recommend to anyone who needs a very light and portable powerhouse with excellent build quality.. especially if you already own other Apple devices.

Exact same configuration as mine! 😍 Congrats on this excellent choice 😁😁😆
And I had the same impression re: weight as well, when I first compared it to the MBR and its minimalistic wedge shape. But now I got used to it and it seems light and very portable to me (the size is still a bit impressive though).

I have a Midnight, 10 Core GPU, 2TB, 24GB version and I've been loving it. I've not run a benchmark, a heat test and I have no intention of ever doing so. I'm honest about what I use my computer for, which is very little as usually I'm on my iPad. I have a 4K LG UltraFine connected to it which is very nice.

The M2 Air replaced a 2019 27" iMac with a 3TB fusion drive so the speed different between my old and new computer are incomparable. The heaviest thing I do is World of Warcraft which runs very well and after playing for an hour and a half the lap was mildly warm.

Thus far my 2019 MacBook Pro work has me use gets far hotter than my Air and work computer is mostly using the Terminal window, Chrome and Slack.

The more I use my M2 Air, the more I love it. It's the perfect size, great performance (for what I use it for), cool running, cool to the touch, thin, light, great (and bright) display, great battery life, and an amazing keyboard. The trackpad has a nice quiet thunk sound too.

Maybe it's due to supply variances, but this keyboard is so much nicer than the one on my M1 Air (which I thought was very good), and even a bit nicer than the one on my 16" MacBook Pro. It's springy, bouncy, with a nice feel and sound, and with very clean keyboard backlighting.

The only thing I don't love, but don't hate, are the speakers. They are fine for such a small MacBook and are plenty loud and they do have some range, but sound quality (to me) is not measured by decibels. I prefer the more separated and layered sound from my M1 Air speakers. Maybe I will try Boom 2 to reduce the mids which are too pronounced creating a slightly tinny and flat sound with some audio.

I am satisfied enough to return it and get an upgraded model when possible. Let me explain.
I got the midnight color which looks very nice, except for all the smudges. I cannot get them off easily (or at all in some cases), and even if I did, they would be back in 10 minutes of use.
I can see the keyboard picking up smudges especially after a long productive session. But why does the screen and get dirty ? It’s not an iPad. And the case, what could you possibly have on your hands that would permanently mar the finish ? So if people are going to stroke & stare at the laptop, de we buy silver so it doesn’t show your dirt after 10 minutes ? Maybe Apple is on to something with a $20 Polishing Cloth. What’s next Apple Gloves ?

Would love to hear your thoughts on it as performance/temps with an external display (3440x1440) is the one area my Intel Macbook Air 2019 really struggles with and the reason I'm thinking of upgrading to a Macbook Air M2!

That's exactly why I didn't buy the M2 Air, reading comprehension and all. Apple has crippled the base M2 Air & 13" MBP to force inhouse upgrades or higher tier products plain and simple.

A 50% reduction in R/W on the SSD is a significant issue making the base M2's redundant for a good many educated users. The base M1's were too good and they knew it, this is Apple's solution...

Q-6

Ironic to see someone harping on reading comprehension while responding to a thread titled 'Are you satisfied with your m2 air?' with 'I didn't buy one because <insert stale complaint here>. Btw. I like my M2 MBA quite a bit for travel. Already flown with it.

74% now. So you started this thread with a preconceived notion? The thing is, of course M1 compared to Intel would likely have yielded a higher percentage then M2 vs M1. Who would return a M1 for an Intel? LOL
def good to see it going up otherwise it would be a dumpster fire

Macrumors is a dumpster fire, and by no means represents the way that the vast majority of consumers feel.

I'd bet money that the MBA is going to be a slam dunk success for Apple. It's a fantastic machine in nearly every way imaginable. If 2 or 3 people refrain from buying because it can't power multiple 6k monitors and render a Pixar movie, I don't think that's going to hurt Apple any.

Very pleased with mine. Amazing balance of weight, size, performance, and silence.

Got mine today. Midnight/16/512. Love it so far. The color is even better in person. Fingerprints show, but they do on my iPad and iPhone too, so whatever. I’m coming from a 2016 MBP, so the M2 is a nice step up for me.

Happy to hear this, I’m in the exact same boat as you. Only ever used and owned windows machine, owned iPhones since the 3GS days. But apple finally convinced me to give the MacBook a shot. Hopefully 2 more weeks and it will be here

More than pleased with my base 8/256 in SG. I came from an Intel MBP, so enjoying the weight and battery life.

The machine is perfect for my (very very light) workflow. In all honesty, the MBP was overkill for me.

The amazon deal was too good. Will enjoy the larger and better screen, the better speakers. While the rest is overkill for the needs, had wanted the larger sod as this is for my mom and she will not be carrying around extra ssds. She keeps all her photos on the hd. Much happier with my decision. Personally I already have a 14 mb preorder and I love the beast.
what was the amazon deal?
