I just love how inexpensive these are for such great software!

Living under the current rule of microsoft selling software for $200+ it boggles my mind you can get such amazing software for so cheap!

It boggles my mind that people on this forum pay for software.

iWork '09 was released at what, 10:00AM this morning? Logged on computer at around 3, downloaded trial from apples site in 5 minutes, found a serial that was posted two hours earlier at one, installed in total of 6 or 7 minutes.

It would take longer for me to type in my credit card.

It boggles my mind that people can think nothing of theft.

I stole toast too. And CS4 master collection. And everything else on this computer except ipod access, which I actually thought was good enough to pay for

Well have fun with your warning or ban. *reported*

Why do you think its ok to steal that?

Yeah because I can get banned on macrumors for stealing software somewhere else.

That makes lots of sense

We dont talk about and openly support illegal activities here.

Can you explain why you think its ok?

TOS says not to post links to it, doesn't say I can't say "I pirated iLife"

Why do I think it's OK to pirate software?

Do you seriously think 2,499 for CS4 is not inflated and ridiculous?

So because its expensive its ok?

Do you even understand how many thousands of man hours goes into software like this?

I get that. But when adobe complains about piracy, they should be looking at their price tag, not complaining about the publics morals.

They can do what they want with their own product, by that logic your saying that you are entitled to walk into an apple store and walk out with a mac pro, or just steal a ferrarri because they are "overpriced".

Software is kinda different than stealing a ferrari.

You can get arrested for that.

Either way, pay for ilife if you want to, I guess

You can get arrested for both. And the two arent different, they are both stealing.

part of the reason its priced so high is precisily becasue some people decide to pirate it. if no one pirated say cs4, its cost would be significantly lower

also, why not just use gimp or gimpshop? free for life and nearly as capable. if you need photoshop for work, then you can pay for it via the buisness you bring in. otherwise, might as well just use a free alternative

Look, the rules are this:

Warez/Serials/Keys. Do not post software serial numbers or keys or refer people to specific websites or software whose purpose is to break or bypass software licensing methods, distribute cracks, or obtain or use commercial software or media in violation of its license and/or for copyright violation. Do not ask for or give such help.

There is nothing wrong with discussing piracy in the abstract, but you'll annoy some people in the process.

I was okay with the presentation. Nothing groundbreaking, but that actually illustrates the reason Apple bailed on MacWorld. Apple has gotten to where they release solid but incremental updates through the year, can you imagine the pressure that's on them to release something revolutionary only in January or June? That's probably why Apple stock has fallen after pretty much every Macworld for the last several years.

Nail, head. Even Mac OS X's new iterations are pretty much incremental upgrades with a few new features. They aren't the $200 buck-ups that Windows takes 5 years to do. When it ain't broke, don't fix it. I use 10.3 at work, and it *almost* looks the same in most places.

As for me upgrading, I'm kinda waiting to see. All I did is check out the Macworld.com updates on what was being announced. I'm about to watch the stream of the keynote (in effin' HD!) since I use iPhoto a bit and try to use iMovie from time to time. I used to do a little Web design, but Dreamweaver is still more complicated than FrontPage and a little over my head, and iWeb seems like crap to me. GarageBand is awesome for creating ringtones, especially with everything going DRM-free now.

1) $2499 is for the complete collection that includes about 16 applications. That is for some serious professionals, and many of them probably think it's a bargain. The cheapest suite is $1,000. If you're a student, you can knock those prices down at least 50 percent. So your whole price thing is bunk.

2) I think $2.19 is ridiculous for a drink at a restaurant, but I don't stiff them $2.19. Lexus vehicles are ridiculously priced considering they are Toyota Camrys with a crapload of bells and whistles, yet I haven't stolen a Lexus.

3) You're just a plain thief (what the hell do you think pirates are?) and you need to admit it to yourself. It's no different that going into Best Buy and sneaking the DVDs/CDs out in your pockets or stealing a $2499 MacBook Pro from someone. You're the type of #$@thead that needs to be sent to a federal pound-me-in-the-arse prison.

is ilife available already?
Not till end of Jan.

Amen. Totally agree though I'm sensing some animosity.

I just got an $84 ticket for being behind someone who backed into me. "Following too closely." The other guy lied to the policeman about it, and so the pig (what animosity?) wrote ME a ticket. Then there's the $500 deductible on having my car fixed.

Me having animosity toward the law? Lil bit. :)

can't wait

Yes... I placed the ordered yesterday... the upgrade should arrive Feb. 6th... I hated imovie 08 (used imovie HD), but imovie 09 seems to have added many of the missing features like slow motion and fast forward plus themes... the new face feature also looks very interesting for iphoto... worth the $71 upgrade (teacher discount):)
