Tried it, felt weird at first. Took me about half an hour to get used to it and now I love it. I think it's definitely more suited to trackpads. I have a Magic Mouse and it doesn't feel as good on that.

Natural scrolling is great, and works best with a trackpad. It literally feels like you are "pushing" the content.

Where I think a lot of people get tripped up is they see the scrollbar moving in the opposite direction that they push. The "old" way of scrolling you were moving a scrollbar. Using the "natural" way of scrolling you are interacting with content. It's quite obvious once you grasp the concept.

I like it...

I've gotten used to it and think its actually pretty good, but my problem is other apps that use the trackpad are "backwards" now.

For example - in VLC you can swipe right to fast forward, left to rewind, up to increase volume, and down to turn it down. Now all these are backwards. I'm not sure I can get used to swiping up to turn the volume down. Likely a way to change this in VLC's extensive configs - but I can see this being a problem in other apps (audio apps or photo apps where I use scrolling to increase or decrease values).

Its been an interesting OS release! Some good some bad. A few rough edges - but overall I'm entertained (until I try to get some work done anyway, we'll see ;) ) .

It took some time to get adjusted.. being flexible, adaptable and all around nice person that I am, I tried and stuck with the natural scrolling. Although, it should be noted that it works much better if you use trackpad.. With mouse wheel it is a little bit confusing.. I find..

Having said that.. Natural scrolling is required to get the desktops to scroll in the same way as the gesture.

So, yes I am using it, and am totally aghast when it comes to you inflexible bastards who are not... :)

Just kidding.. its just another rather personal thing people will either love or hate..

But, I was willing to give it a chance...

For the first couple of days it was always interesting to guess which way will the bloody screen go :)

Very unnatural.

It's a very simple concept.

Fingers down to scroll down.
Fingers up to scroll up.

Reverse scrolling may be natural to iPhone users, who have been forced to re-learn something that is so "unnatural".

day2, and am adapting. at first, tho...

am future-proofing, i imagine this will be the default over the next several years.

either way, good to change things up now & then! good for our brains, and hands...

It's awkward and difficult to get used to, but I'm trying it just to see how it feels once I'm a bit more used to it.

20 years of muscle memory is a bit difficult to overcome.

Open your mind a little...fingers up to move content up, fingers down to move content down. Apple didn't do this arbitrarily, and people who say things like this are just being obtuse out of stubbornness.

Put a piece of paper with text on it down on the table, put your finger on it and push it forward. Makes more sense than the way it was before ;)

I'm using natural scrolling for the time being. I have to say, when I first started using Lion, the scrolling felt anything but natural. However, I can't knock something until I really give it a fair shake. If I don't get used to natural scrolling by the end of the week then I'll switch back to regular scrolling.

I tried, but got rid of it.

It's fine on the iPhone, and I always use inverted aiming on say, a first-person game or flight simulator, but it never gelled with me.

I'm using the natural scrolling with my Magic Trackpad, been using it this way for a month or so now. It definitely feels more natural to me after the adjustment period of realizing you are moving the content and not the scrollbar anymore.

That's pretty amazing that it's nearly 50/50 split between the old and new way...I would've expected closer to maybe 70/30 in favor of the old way.

As someone else mentioned, it's *way* more natural to curl your finger inward, and since you're more likely to scroll DOWN than up, it just seems more natural to do it the old way - for a mouse, anyway.

I can see people who have trackpads and the Apple wireless pad as their primary cursor device might find the new way more natural though...

I tried the natural way, hated it.

Went back to the old way, great.

Then I thought that there must be a reason why it was included and made the default.

Switched back to natural, spent a few hours getting used to it and it very quickly becomes so intuitive and an obvious way of doing things. It makes even more sense with the side swipes for going backwards and forwards in browsing and switching screens etc.

I will be staying with it now and ditching the weird inverted way.

I agree with you!! I too, also hated "natural scrolling" and switched it back to the "old way" almost immediately. I also switched back to Lion's default "natural scrolling" - and after a half day or so, I got used to it and actually began to enjoy it. It actually does "make sense" and seems "natural"

I tried it for a while, but it sucked so I switched from "natural" back to "normal". I have no idea why anyone at Apple would have thought this was a good idea.

Went back to the old way and will keep it there because it is more intuitive. When I scroll down the old way, I imagine that I am moving my finger down the page. Thus the true natural way is to scroll down. What Apple calls the natural way should be called the iPhone way.

You're right, I should be more open minded!
But, I didn't mean to appear stubborn, was just expressing a point of view.

Can't agree more :)
Still on Day 2, though... but am enjoying it..
Too bad in Chrome I can't swipe back & forth to go to the prev & next page :(

I didn't think I'd like it at first but it definitely grew on me so yes, I use the new scrolling.
