Something was mentioned previously about Y2K38 and someone said that thinking was "in the right direction". The furthest time that can be represented as a result of the Y2K38 bug is 03:14:07 UTC on January 19, 2038.

If we subtract 42 days from February 29, 2012, we end up with January 18, 2012 - the day of the online SOPA/PIPA blackout.

I can't seem to draw any conclusions from that though.

I don't think you need to worry about the other stuff. I understand that the puzzle has been solved!
