Well that was an er.. unexpected conclusion.

So now that the case is closed; what's my prize, captain?

The powers that be will have to chime in and advise on that one.

When I had said "What's the meaning of life?" you said to keep on adding.

Also, why the chosen numbers?

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop? The world may never know.

Why did you guys change the numbers partway through? Did you mess up on the initial calculations?

I calculated the product of the numbers earlier, but I didn't know the significance of it. I thought the numbers corresponded to a particular thread number (I even tried reversing them).

The game started out as a joke, then the room got really smokey and we watched these old DVDs of a TV series...:). That's where 42 came from. We decided to conclude the game on leap day and Doctor Q concocted a magical formula for us to change our numbers to. The numbers totaled up to 42 and multiplied out to the European standard date entry for today. 42 is also a perfect score on the International Mathmatical Olympiad. Six problems worth seven points each. Look it up on Wiki. They even have an anthem you can download.

Congrats to all who helped this. It looked impossible to me.
