Downgrading is something only really advanced users understand and should do. Even Apple Geniuses recommend against it. Given we’re reading this thread I doubt any of us would claim to be of the level of knowledge of an Apple Genius.

I will claim that status, however, I am not an actual Apple Genius but I have downgraded many a time and never messed it up. Also, just because they are Apple Geniuses doesn't mean they are all Apple product Gods. There are some bad ones out there.

:apple:

You dont need to be an "Apple Genius" to downgrade an iOS device ;)
Most of the stuff we used to do before to JB, unlock, hactivate and other things to jailbroken iOS devices was far more involved than restoring to an earlier iOS version still signed by Apple.

Lol :D
True, that...

True; we're all smarter than that.

I'm back everyone. I survived lol. I cannot believe how fast my phone feels now. It seems faster then before I upgraded to 11 when I was on 10.3.3. Does a restore to new do this much to make a phone feel this much faster?

Yes, when you restore and setup as new you get rid of any bugs transferred from previous versions.
I like to setup my iPhone as new with every major iOS release.

I have no comment , I wonder if downgrading is advanced operation then what will you categorise jail breaking as? Rocket science?!

It is just unbelievable. It feels like I have a new phone.

Try comparing it side by side with a 6s running iOS 11.0.2, my 6s seems faster and more responsive than a 6s on 10.3.3 when comparing them next to each other.

@dogslobber

You're wrong.

Now, don't be so quick to update in the future.

At least give Apple time to address the bugs. And there are bugs!

Apple should continue signing a stable version of iOS then, instead of pushing people onto unstable operating systems.

9.0.2? That's still the wild west builds. Current iOS versions are so locked down that it's fruitless. Fortunately you don't need to jailbreak anymore to get apps onto your device.
I don't jailbreak to get apps.

I jailbreak to get features Apple won't allow me to have and to make my device look and function as I prefer.

As far as 9.0.2, yes. There has been no feature, no app, no anything since iOS 6 that Apple or a third party has produced that has made me say I MUST update for that. Nothing I do on my phone has changed since 2009 when I got my first smartphone.

I am on iOS 9 solely because that's the version of iOS that came with this device.

Ditto...I jail-break to get tweaks. Pirated apps don't interest me. That's a common misconception people have about jail-breaking.

Some things Apple insist on controlling is silly. What's the harm to having 5 icons per row? Because Apple doesn't want me to?

Here's my home screen:

Behind this innocuous screen are some useful tweaks.

That virtual home button that ip7 and ip8 users are enjoying?...had that on my 6s courtesy of the jail-break way before the regular users.

The system font I customized to make the calendar more bold and text easier to read. Tell me that's not useful.

Control Center I've made more secure and locked down.

TouchID is disabled from 12am-6am. No borrowing my thumbprint to unlock my phone while I'm asleep. Apple should have put this in iOS !

My phone is more secure and useful than it's ever been.

That's interesting.
Im not sure its the same thing or works the same.
If it does I wouldn't mind at all paying for a Dev account.
But again even I could install Cydia on iOS 11.0.3 for example what good is it if all JB hacks dont work for that ios version? Public JB's have to be out for many cydia devs and others to work, debug, troubleshoot and upgrade and put out new Cydia hacks.
I really miss those days.

Not really sure it's needed nowadays. You should be able to install cydia via a developer account and install further from there.
