I would agree with Apple that the camera is “Pro” meaning the photos are professional level to my eye. I think it could replace a professional camera IMO

In perfect lighting where the focal length range is appropriate to what you're doing, sure it can give perfectly passable results.

I couldn't have taken either of the below photos with an iPhone. The first is from a few years ago, the second from last weekend. Neither is an outstanding example, but still there are technical aspects to these that are simply not possible on an iPhone camera. Since you're claiming it "as good as a pro" camera, I'll let you figure out what I'm talking about(BTW, the first was taken with a Nikon D600, the second a Nikon Df-neither is technically what Nikon classes as a "pro" camera).

I think you’ve got a very immature outlook to be honest and you’ve got a thread full of people taking the mick out of you, yet still you continue to talk drivel about hypothetical millionaires that nobody cares about. I really have no idea what point you are trying to make and I’ve lost interest in all honesty. This is a troll thread and has been a car crash from post number one.

Words of wisdom!

The first one is STUNNING. Makes my iPhone 11 Pro Max camera look like crap lol

The second is a very sweet photo. Like it’s very nice and I wish the couple well. But the quality of the photo to my eye looks like iPhone 6S.

The first was taken with a 14mm lens-an iPhone doesn't go that wide. To actually get both bases of the arch(630ft wide) in the frame with an iPhone, you'd need to be in the middle of the river or more likely on the other side of it(in not-so-nice East St. Louis). More importantly, you wouldn't get the exaggerated "squatted" perspective that makes me really like that photo(although you would get a more natural perspective that reflects what you see-for example-when you're seeing it from a distance).

The second "looks like crap" because it was dark and I had the ISO up to 12,800. If an iPhone could go that high, it would look many, many times worse. Of course, ideally I'd have used flash but I wasn't being paid to do this, had too much else going on that day, didn't want to haul around a flash, and didn't want to get in the way of the guy being paid to do it(who had a couple of Profoto strobes in softboxes in each corner). I've seen iPhone photos people took that evening-trust me that they're terrible.

You are so far out of touch with the real “professional business world” that it is somewhat unbelievable. I’m an average IT technician that earns a bit over minimum wage in England but because of that I’ve got to work and communicate with people in high places.

Your vision of the pro’s represent a very very small minority. Sorry but you come across as a teenager who just got his or her first pay check and spent it all on a new product to brag about it.

The average response when I’ve asked these successful people about their outdated tech products?

“I love it and it does everything I need!”

Umm I’m pretty sure my iPhone 11 Pro Max can beat the image quality of the 2nd photo. It takes farbetter looking photos.

The first one, heck nah lol. Whatever camera that was, it definitely was NOT an iPhone lol I can’t imagine

Take a close look at photos taken with it under low light conditions(where this was taken) and you'll find that there would be absolutely no comparison.

When it comes to noise, there's absolutely no replacement for sensor area(and low pixel density helps a lot-the opposite of the tiny 12mp sensor in any smart phone).

The iPhone 11's max native ISO is more than 2 stops lower than on the photo shown here from the Nikon Df(iPhone at ISO 3000, Df at 12,800) and even at 3000 it's not as "clean" looking as the Df at 12,800.

Ohh yeah my bad you're right. Low light photos are TRASH on my iPhone which is a shame since most of the photos I take are at night. The day ones though are great.

I bought a new electric toothbrush yesterday. It was an Braun Oral B “Pro” model. Impressive, huh?

Not really. In the toothbrush world “Pro” is mid-range. “Genius” is high-end. Gah!

Thankfully I didn’t know that yesterday or I’d have been sooooo humiliated at the checkout. 😋

Funny thing is, real professional equipment do not use the term “Pro”.

Good observation. A pro tool in the hands of an amateur, is just an amateur tool.

What‘s produced is what matters: Photographs, artwork, literature, computer code, music, medical diagnoses, legal opinions, architectural blueprints, etc. Are they of professional standard - and did the tool help?

Yeah, I think this is a good point, and Apple has kind of ruined the term "Pro" in that sense.

My job title is "Scientific Instrument Specialist." I spend a good portion of my day job working with(meaning both actually producing data and maintaining) stuff with price tags from $500 up to close to a million dollars. I've recently been bragging about the great deal I got on one of my newest pieces of equipment-a GC-MS-that was bought used because it was "only" $40K(to justify buying it, I had to get two quotes on comparable new equipment-the quoting process is quite involved and in particular with one manufacturer I ended up meeting with a sales rep for about 2 hours plus multiple phone calls-one quote came in at $130K and one at $150K).

In any case, in any sense we're talking about "pro" stuff here in the sense that I make my living on it, and other people are using it to either earn a degree or keep their livelihood intact. For that matter, I have an advanced degree that lets me understand what's going on with them and both teach how they work as well as optimize their operation for people's uses. At the same time, though, none of it says "pro" on the front of it.

And yes, I have cameras that are considered "pro" cameras, but I'm not a pro by any means.

My only issue is carrying a camera around. Like I’m not going out at night with friends lugging around a real camera bc I want to capture a moment in the bar with my $5000 camera bc it’s just SO important lol /s

I would look so lame
