this might sound like ******** to you since youre still in highschool and all, but sex isnt really that great if it isnt wit someone you love. i mean its like giving a speech in front of someone naked, if you don't perform, youll be made fun of.

You guys watch too much American teenage coming-of-age movies. Proms are nothing like what you see in movies.

the whole prom thread is still pretty strange to me .. i'm still kinda ouzzled about this " you gotta have a date there/renting car etc." stuff

here we had an formal eving with show and 3 live bands parents etc. and dancing (if you want) and a seperate party with normal clothes & together with the teachers on a different day and on both occasions no "date" or any fancy asking girls/boys out were needed.. you could bring friends with you if you wanted on the formal thing but it was more fun witout dancing anyways
it a took like 30 minutes untill a friends father uttered the words "come on guys, time to hit the bar in the back before my wife starts thinking about dancing" ;) we missed the whole on stage show

So... Did you at least kiss her good night?

It's about time for me to ask my girl now. I think I'm going to do it tomorrow. It's going to be hard to find her and get a chance to talk to her... I'm more worried about timing than uttering the words.

And if you haven't heard, my prom is on the same day I take the SATs, and if I'm unlucky, I may not show up for prom if my parents think I am needed to help my sister move out of her dorm.

Yeah, my date actually had to take the ACT and then she had a soccer game. After that she had to get ready for prom.

Asking

I asked my date to prom this past week. Each of her teachers gave her an object whose first letter was a letter in the message. The first items was a Purdue university t-shirt. The second item was a Rose. The question mark was a giant cookie baked into the shape of a question mark. The first item came with a note explaining how it worked. Each teacher gave her a new item, which was another letter to the message which was prom? and then my name. She figured it out before the end of the day, came up to me, said yes, and gave me a big hug! What made it really awesome was that she said that she saw a girl on a scavenger hunt the day before and was kind of sad that no one would ever do something like that for her. The girls absolutely love being asked out in creative ways. It doesn't even have to be expensive. All of the items combined cost me on $30.

Good for you man, the most important thing isn't how you ask, the most important thing is that you do ask. And just for the record, I think the best approach when you want to do anything with a girl is to not make a big deal out of it. In fact, I think the more nonchalant you can make the whole "asking her out thing" the better off you are. If you make it a big deal then she's gonna start thinking it's a big deal then she's gonna start thinking hard about everything and that alone could make her nervous and give her a bad feeling making her not want to go. Just keep everything relaxed and casual and just bring it up when there's a natural moment to talk about it.

Her: "Yeah, I heard there's gonna be a great dj at the prom."

You: "Cool, it sounds like it's gonna be a lot of fun. We should go together so we can rate every song the dj plays and see if he's as good as his reputation."

Her: "Haha, yeah, that sounds like fun."

You: "Great, I'll call you later and we'll make all the arrangements."

Then get outta there before the moment gets stale. And BTW, because I would've loved to have known this when I was younger I'm telling you young guys that the same hold true when you want to "make your move." Just keep everything relaxed and casual and when a moment comes to naturally move in, then just let yourself move in naturally. Don't try and pull some lame "move" like yawning so you can put your arm around her and don't think that you have to setup some elaborate romantic moment to make your move. Just find a way to get to a reasonably nice place where you two are secluded and then just move in when a good moment arrives. If only someone told ME that when I was younger.

Hey guys.
I'm going to be asking this girl to Prom. But I want to do something different to ask her. I was just wondering if you guys had any suggestions for something cool to do.

Ok! So heres what you're gonna do. Shes going to be gone from her house when you do obviously, and her parents will be there (so you can do this). Leave a trail of gum leading up to her room, and on to her bed, which will lead to a pile of gum! On the pile of gum is a note saying "I chews you! (her name), will you go to prom with me? :-D (smily face, silly doodles, etc go here)".

i'm not sure if you noticed, but the original poster asked over a year ago and posted results+pictures, etc.

 I did the same thing! Except each piece was a clue as to what was going to happen that day. I think it was for V-day. I also have been dating her for 4.5 years!! Crazy coincidence!
I bought these cheesy puzzlegram things @ a dance once for this friend of mine that I almost like as more than a friend asking him to dance. :D
(duh he said yes)
And.... we've still been friends for the 3 months since! :D

*goes and hides in her stupid little hole*:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Anyways, I think cut up notes are good.
And song lyrics are sweet but safe, b/c you didn't write them. Just make sure she doesn't hate the song. :p

It took me forever, but I made a flip book... and some of the letters ended up looking crooked. But it was really neat!

Here's my suggestion to the guy who started the thread: Tell her you play the Fashion Fantasy Game. There's a contest about designing prom dresses in that game, and it's a game meant for teen girls.

Obviously, it's a long shot, but believe it or not, my girlfriend actually plays the game. When I mentioned it to her, she was pretty impressed. Also, you can probably design some dresses for her on that game.

I know it's a weird suggestion, but I'm just saying...

I'm rather sure the OP graduated by now :p

Check the date the thread was created....

lol

don't worry about whether she says yes or no because you can get another prom date in five minutes using this website called Prom Date Depot. I had two dates in less than a week.
