Just did some backreading...didn't find the answer so....

Does MMS cost anything more than sending a regular text message?

I have the 1500 text plan

No 3.1 issues for me! Since restoring my iPhone 3GS as a new iPhone (under 3.1), my iPhone has performed FLAWLESSLY! Not a single problem.

Aren't most of the folks having problems still on those old, tired, slow 3G iPhones? :D

Mark

since i can MMS with 3.0 I think ill stick with 3.0 and continue to enjoy free tethering... after all 3.1 has no real feature upgrades.

I can receive pictures without a problem...but I've tried sending a few to other folk on non-AT&T carriers and they're not getting it. Anyone else having this same problem?

Got JB'd 3.0.1 to update finally after error

Okay, after a bit of searching, found the old threads where JB'd phones had issues with carrier updates. If you are running a different ATT carrier logo, or running MIM (make it mine), remove those and the error resolves. You can reinstall after the carrier update.

Good luck! And thanks to those that helped me today!

How about Austin?

Anyone get any MMS functionality in Austin? Every time I try to send, it fails with the damn red exclamation mark.

Working

Been working in Columbus, Ohio for a while now - bout freakin' time! Now if someone could "adjust" the 3G phones to do video the world would be a better place :p

I'm fine with some dropped frames - don't need HD from a damn phone.

I've been able to send, but no one is apparently receiving (even though they also have MMS enabled). I asked my wife to send me an MMS, but she hasn't been able to make it send.

added: I can send MMSs to myself and receive them ok.

Was doing the same thing in Seattle, but I was in a poor reception area. I think it is very quick to determine whether or not your connection is capable, so if you are in a spotty service area, it stops. It took me 4 tries.

Thanks! This fixed it for me. :D Had the AT&T Carrier Logo app installed.

Ok, someone please tell me how this is better than attaching a photo or movie to an email. Email requires nothing extra and it's free.

Think of it as....backwards compatibility. For people who have friends that don't have email on their phones.

i agree that apple tried to push email in the mobile space, but again apple taking a risk unnecessarily when the space wants MMS, period. It has nothing to go with where the future is, its knowing what the market wants know, and as they have proved, all it was was a software update, fail.

Fair enough. It's that whole "where the puck is going to be" business, and while Apple Inc. has been right many times, in this case it miscalculated. I agree that it would have obviously made more sense to offer MMS from the get go.

I still expect more from the smart people on these boards than repeating the same snarky remark, however!
