Not positive, but I think I read that MMS with no plan is .40 (OUCH!)

If you're correct, then make that .42 with tax, paid by both sender and receiver totals .84! That's almost the price of a game!

I think I'll stick to email if that's the case.

Easy, I would much rather have my jailbroken phone with Backgrounder, Intelliscreen, MyFi, 3G Unrestrictor, etc and more than to be able to trim video or press a button on my bluetooth to call someone. 3.1 wasn't worth it.

Because everyone wants to fully use their jailbroke iphone instead of a crappy 3.1 update that you can't do much on. Plus unlock won't work yet.

Screw that, i'm not updating to 3.1 until we get an updated redsn0w!

All that jailbroken greatness and no way to MMS?

Was able to send one, but my friend didn't get it on his iPhone with the SMS carrier file. I tried sending a second one and it got stuck, then put a red triangle with an ! in it next to the pic, so that one didn't send. Yey for breaking the network! San Antonio here.

3.0 mms hack (non-jailbreak, using older carrier file) used to send all group messages regardless of whether there was any image in it or not as group MMS. the new carrier update released today fixed that issue and the phone now correctly sends group messages as txt messages or mms messages. :)

As someone on 3.0 with the benm.at tethering enabled I can say that .. rightclicking this link posted above and selecting "download linked file" .. then subsequently option-clicking in iTunes (9.xx) and selecting the downloaded .ipcc file will result in the carrier settings be upgraded and any jailbreaks/hacks not being affected.. then everyone enjoys a great friday, no?!?

My 3Gs isnt jailbroken, but I wasn't willing to go to 3.1 and lose my tethering just for some MMS. but now i can have my cake and eat it too. kinda.

I can say that after downloading the .ipcc. installing it. rebooting. i have MMS and benm.at still works.

thanks guy/gal who posted this carrier file

Thank you this was exactly what I was looking to find. Works great with my JB'd 32GB 3GS. Jailbreak is still functional, tethering hack is still there, and I'm a happy person.

Still not working. Stupid ATI&T.

I called AT&T about it and they said their system is still not registering all iPhones as being able to support MMS, so that's why the red ! is popping up. They gave me a case # and a phone number to contact them at, but told me the situation might not be resolved until WEDNESDAY. "Most competitive market in America" my @$$. I hate this company  Where's my VeriziPhone?

I recall where in the past we could install a custom ipcc file and we would get a setting in system/network and it would show the carrier settings for MMS. I want to do a comparison. The people who can send MMS, do you have an extra setting in settings/network that shows MMS carrier settings? For those that can't, do you not have those carrier settings in the settings/network section? I am also able to receive them. Odd.

WOW!!!!!!!! has anyone seen this yet.

" One or more of the message components have been deleted by MMS Adaptation. Either the message was too large or the components were unsuitable for your terminal"

What does that mean the file was to big?

Maybe I wouldnt have made the choice to buy a phone that doesnt jive with SSL protocols.... if I had known earlier.
I bought it wit the impression that it worked with Active sync.
Guess that was my fault.

Just sayin'.
Yep, for sure. It was a mistake for Apple to tout exchange support without real, proper support. A bigger mistake to quietly "fix" it later, without so much as a warning. I doubt anyone would try to argue it has been handled poorly. Its a bit of an embarrassing mistake on their part, and as a lot of folks would do they are trying to quietly and swiftly sweep it under the rug.

I'm not familiar enough with MS release schedules to know if the feature in question was released prior to OS 2.0 or not, but assuming it was, they absolutely should never have supported syncing to servers requiring encryption the phone could not provide.

However,
users who know their company have this encryption in place and are shopping for a smartphone should be asking the question straight away at purchase whether the phone has the appropriate hardware to securely handle their email. Heck, get it in writing. This way, when a year down the road we find out the mickey-mouse support for something that should not be supported is being quietly removed and you can no longer use a feature you are arguably directly paying for, you have some legal grounds to take Apple to task. If in fact they touted the device as an enterprise phone which it turns out it is not in this case, you should be entitled to a free phone which meets the reqs.

Red exclamation point when sending pics on normal 3G (NOT jailbroken) iphone.

Update went through perfect. Restarted phone. Have the camera icon. Choose pic and/or take pic and send works.......but then doesn't go through. Gets flagged with the red exclamation point. Doesn't matter if I use existing pic or one I take. Doesn't matter if I include text or I don't. It won't go through to anyone I try (all people who have "regular" phones and who I know have working mms).

Most frustrating is that I CAN receive pics from those people just fine. Loud and clear. But the send doesn't go through. Nice work AT&T!!
