had the hacked carrier file (att 5.1) before, was working great for mms for the last 2 weeks...updated to att's "OFFICIAL" 5.5 and now it doesn't work, restarted my phone and everything....thinking about calling and complaining to get a credit, this is beyond rediculous at this point....

Has anyone received this message yet when you get a picture?

" One or more of the message components have been deleted by MMS Adaptation. Either the message was too large or the components were unsuitable for your terminal"

finally no more whining... I was so sick of all the American's on the forum complaining.

Actually why not whine about tethering now? The world does revolve around the US.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you can MMS if you are jailbroken. They want both, which at the time is only done with 3.0 and a carrier file.

Absolutely true. 3.0.1 OS, jail-broken. Grabbed ATT 5.5 today and installed through iTunes. I now have MMS functioning.

Don't know where you're thinking there's no MMS. I'm jailbroken on 3.0.1, 5.0 IPCC carrier file hack from benm, and I can tether and MMS just fine.

BL.

I'm doing it without a hack. Actual ATT 5.5 carrier file installed today on jb'd 3.0.1 iPhone 3G. Works like a charm.

1. First, you need to download the updated AT&T carrier file… The AT&T 5.5 carrier file can be downloaded HERE.
* EDIT* you will need to change the .zip extension to .ipcc

2. Then, you’ll need to tweak iTunes slightly so that it will let you update the carrier file manually. Here is how you do that:

For Mac – Open up Terminal, and at the prompt type defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE and hit Enter.

For Windows (32-bit) – Go to Start > Run and type in command, then hit Enter. Then, at the prompt, type “C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe” /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1 and hit Enter.

For Windows (64-bit) – Go to Start > Run and type in command, then hit Enter. Then, at the prompt, type “C:\Program Files(x86)\iTunes\iTunes.exe” /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1 and hit Enter.

3. Then, plug your iPhone into your computer and fire up iTunes. Once it’s all loaded, go to your iPhone in iTunes and hold down SHIFT (or OPTION on the Mac) while clicking on the Update button in the main iPhone panel (not the sidebar). This brings up a dialog box that allows you to choose a file for updating. Go to where you saved the AT&T carrier .ipcc file and open it up. You will need to choose the .ipcc file type from the files of type drop-down menu in the dialog box in order to find it. This takes just a moment to update.

4. REBOOT YOUR IPHONE!

GG have fun!

Thanks for the directions, worked great!

Yep me too-same phone and firmware except mine is black :)

If you are using make it mine or any custom carrier theme, the ipcc update WILL NOT INSTALL.

Make sure to remove these via Cydia, install the update, then reinstall the custom carrier themes if you wish.

finally no more whining... I was so sick of all the American's on the forum complaining.

Actually why not whine about tethering now? The world does revolve around the US.

And yet Apple is a US based company without which there would be no iPhone to talk about at all.

What's wrong with the 5.0 carrier file?

I have MMS and tethering....

If I upgrade wont I loose tethering?

I don't get it. I got all the updates. But how to do send a photo with a text message? How do you send a MMS message with photo????

I'm lost. There is no image attachment button in texting.

Can someone shoot me an MMS? I wanna see if I can receive vs send.

Eta: didn't work.
