Can we send voice notes?

Yes, I just tried it. Just go to the Voice Memos app, create a voice memo or select one of the ones you already have and select "Share". You should see an option for MMS.

I have been able to send and receive pictures as well. A few times I got an error but when I retried they went through.

Already broken here in West Texas. Been using it all day and for the last 2 hours can't send anymore.

I have tried sending a couple of MMS and noticed i have had problems with sending when 3G was on. When i turned off 3G and was just on an edge network my MMS has been successful every time. Has anyone else tried this?

I am getting the ! as well. The send function goes about 80 percent of the way then fails after 30 seconds. Way to fail AT&T!

The mms side of AT&Ts network Is at it's limit. According to a rep, it'll be 24 to 48 hours til it's better...

I can receive but not send. It's on their end not ours.

Yup i'm getting the same error. No luck on rebooting or updating it still won't send anything. :(:(:(:(

thanks, uhh...darkfiber (?).

thanks for the tip. That worked for me too, as has (without exception for the past 5 hours) sending pics to iPhones and non-iPhones. I'm on an iPhone 3G and was also able to receive and view a video from an iPhone 3Gs. I'm sorry some of you are having trouble. I'll bet it gets better for you.

I've not figured out yet how to send videos (sized via QuickTime for iPhone) from my 3G, as the vids don't show up on my iPhone in Photos, and in iPod>Videos i don't see any "send" buttons. Any ideas on how that might be done? Maybe it just can't, and i'll have to look forward to my 3gS when i'm elegible in Nov.

Lastly: So what do these MMS cost?

Without a package I think they are 30 cents each? See this article...

In any case I don't see the point of MMS when you can send attachments via email which uses the unlimited data plan you are already paying for. Sending it via email is more reliable (especially when sending MMS to another carrier) and the person you are sending to can get the message from any place they can access their email and not just their phone.

PC World has a interesting article about MMS and the iPhone...

It just took me well over an hour to get my MMS fixed while on the phone with Apple and AT&T.. same time. Finally get it fixed.. then we get off the phone and it goes straight back to red exclamation points. I get pissed, but my girlfriend says she is still receiving the images.. WTF! She sent me a pic.. and i still haven’t gotten it.

I am unable to send MMS in Wilmington, NC THANK YOU AT&T

I was able to send one and receive one at 1:30 today. Now I am not able to do either. I am so glad that it took AT&T the whole summer to get the network infrastructure in place. Am I the only one that is not surprised? AT&T SUCKS!

since i can MMS with 3.0 I think ill stick with 3.0 and continue to enjoy free tethering... after all 3.1 has no real feature upgrades.

Sorry, but you are wrong. iTunes 9 requires firmware 3.1 to be able to sort your apps within iTunes! This is a HUGE feature as far as I'm concerned.

MMS is now working for me. Only thing I did different was remove any text and just send the pic, without text included in the MMS. Try that.

1. First, you need to download the updated AT&T carrier file… The AT&T 5.5 carrier file can be downloaded HERE.
* EDIT* you will need to change the .zip extension to .ipcc

2. Then, you’ll need to tweak iTunes slightly so that it will let you update the carrier file manually. Here is how you do that:

For Mac – Open up Terminal, and at the prompt type defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE and hit Enter.

For Windows (32-bit) – Go to Start > Run and type in command, then hit Enter. Then, at the prompt, type “C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe” /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1 and hit Enter.

For Windows (64-bit) – Go to Start > Run and type in command, then hit Enter. Then, at the prompt, type “C:\Program Files(x86)\iTunes\iTunes.exe” /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1 and hit Enter.

3. Then, plug your iPhone into your computer and fire up iTunes. Once it’s all loaded, go to your iPhone in iTunes and hold down SHIFT (or OPTION on the Mac) while clicking on the Update button in the main iPhone panel (not the sidebar). This brings up a dialog box that allows you to choose a file for updating. Go to where you saved the AT&T carrier .ipcc file and open it up. You will need to choose the .ipcc file type from the files of type drop-down menu in the dialog box in order to find it. This takes just a moment to update.

4. REBOOT YOUR IPHONE!

GG have fun!
You made it so complicated for him LOL Just sync your phone to Itunes then do a software update..Softwate update will pop up..Follow the instruction. After the DL..boot your phone and viola...your phone is MMS ready...LOL
