Complete bull hoggle!

I think it's a sign they are loosing their exclusivity.

Maybe I'll wait to see what version offers.

If I knew where to show up with my pitchfork and torch, I would.

Sadly, unless the backlash gets organized, AT&T will continue to whittle down its service until we pay a penny a byte.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

Oh you bastards. I've always defended you, AT&T, but this is really the final insult.

yeh, that's something to think about. new features of the new phone make me wonder if i'll use more data. like Pandora. if that can run in the background now...i'm afraid i'll use it more and run up the data. or run up the data loading better pics and hd video.

Exactly! especially if it can record videos in 720p.. now if you go to upload that to facebook that is going to chew up more data then a standard video. It will be much easier to burn through 2gb with the new phone if it has all these features that it's rumored to have..

You serious??? Oh right..because the only people who are going to get the new iphone are the people who already have one....

I didn't say that. But the people who already have iPhones and are worryed about losing their data plan and complaing. Are just trying to stir things up to create unneeded drama. It's like that's all some people on this board thrive on.

You have an iPhone already. So you going to be able to keep your plan.

AT&T FTL. They are crazy if they think I'm going to switch to some plan that's only $5 cheaper over my unlimited plan. I don't come close to using 1GB of data per month, but these new plans are stupid and ridiculous. An extra $15 if I go over 200MB's???? OMG, talk about a mark up. Then want to charge and extra $20 for tethering? Dude, you're already making me pay for a "bucket" so let me use that bucket where I damn well please. Make the 2GB $10 cheaper and we'll talk. Until then, kiss my black a...

The tethering charge is BS!!!! If there are caps on the data plans, then tethering should be free! I don't mind the new data plans, but to be charged $20 just for the privilege of sharing my iphone data (which I'm being charged by usage now) with another device is completely unacceptable. I'll be jailbreaking thank you very much AT&T.

Well, If you don't want to pay $20 to tether your notebook you can pay $60 for 5GB and $25 for your iPad (2GB) in addition to the $25 you pay for 2GB on iPhone.

What everyone doesn't understand is that tethering takes away from selling data on other devices. For instance, my has an iPhone and MBP with 5GB wireless card for $60 (total $90). If tethering were free, he could cancel his laptop and tether on iPhone $2GB for $25 plan, and pay the $10 per 1 GB for the 5GB for a total of $50, $10 less. And, if he doesn't use all his 2GB on iPhone, and didn't hit his 5GB on notebook, he would save even more money. Maybe only using 4GB for $45 opposed to paying $90.

Man, I do feel bad for my fellow americans. I have had tethering on my officially unlocked iPhone. Since 1 year. For free.

You HONESTLY think that AT&T WON'T change their grandfathering policy between now and when the iPhone 4 is released?

I'm honestly not trying to be insulting with that question or this next statement..

You have MUCH more faith in AT&T's leadership then I and... I suspect... many other people on this forum have.

Looking at my usage - under these new plans I save at least $5/month since the most I've ever used in the last 9 months was 450 MB. So it doesn't really effect me. I'd have to quadruple my usage to go over and I don't see that happening with my current habits.

For heavy users, this sucks - but this opens up the low-end and makes the iPhone more affordable for them.

I don't like that they're capping our data usages.
But I can't complain, I only use about 500MB of data every month, so I'll be fine on the 2GB plan. I can't believe it though because I use my phone like crazy on 3G (youtube, last.fm, twitter/facebook pic uploading)

I wish we would know before signing a new contract for the new phone, if soon it will be available on other networks. I hear T-Mobile has better prices. I don't know about the service in NJ/NY areas but if the pricing is better, i'd consider switching. I've been with AT&T since i've had a phone too.

I can understand you're all pissed.

In Belgium (that's in Europe), prices up to 15 euros per 200mb are rather the rule than the exception.

Almost no one here has mobile internet. Nearly everyone that has an iPhone only uses it over WiFi.

It truly sucks.

Well. Looks like not everything is cheap in Europe.

Wow. 15 Euros PER 200 MB of Data. That means 150 Euros for 2 GB of Data in Belgium.

That means AT&T actually is 17% the cost of data in Belgium. That's cheap.

I don't think the grandfathering policy will change. All providers let you grandfather features over. AT&T has done this with the Blue Customers in the past.

On the one hand, my usage is around 500 MB/mo right now (mostly thanks to trivial access to institutional wifi at home, work, and school), so this would save me $5 and enable tethering. On the other hand, the concept of being tempted down from unlimited usage is somewhat offensive. On the other other hand, over-the-air bandwidth is a location-limited resource and switching from unlimited might make me a better netizen. On the other other other hand, I have no idea how much bandwidth I'd start using if I was running my WiFi iPad through my iPhone?

I think I'd want to see some kind of "grace period", that is, the first month you ever go over your current plan's limit you have the opportunity to switch to a larger plan without overage fees, but it would never fly.

Guess it's time to familiarize myself with Verizon. While I'll be grandfathered in I find it ridiculous that they're setting the cap at 2GB and charging the same price they charge for the base voice plan.

They can go f*** themselves. I don't think I care about the iPhone enough to deal with this.

Guys you need to chill out....Geeze these threads are soooooo funny and amuzed by all the freaked out people....If you are wanting to tether and use At&T data your going to have to pay $45 bucks. You will be able to thether and get there unlimited data. No cap on 2gigs. That is only if you are paying the 25.

Why would you even do this....I plain on Jailbreaking and using myWI as I do now...Screw At&T when it comes to thethering...MyWI works great and oh yea its free
