Last year, AT&T limited employee vacation requests between June 15-July 15 in anticipation of the original iPhone launch which took place on June 29th, 2007.

Today, Boy Genius Report publishes another AT&T memo that is again restricting vacation requests, this time between June 15th and July 12th 2008. The reason for the restriction is "to ensure adequate store staffing and to give everyone an equal opportunity to benefit from an exciting product launch." AT&T expects "heavier than normal customer traffic" in their stores due to an "exciting Summer Promotional Launch".

Of course, speculation points to Apple launching their new 3G iPhone during that time. The timeframe is consistent with a previous report that claimed that Apple was targeting "on or around June 27th" to approximately coincide with the one year anniversary of the iPhone launch.

Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference takes place between June 9-13th in San Francisco, and could serve as the launching ground for the next generation iPhone.

It's obviously going to be 3G, I thought we had determined that in the other 50 threads?

EDIT: Plus, over here in England some places are testing grounds for 4G. iPhone 3? >_<

WWDC starts June 9, and June 15 is a Sunday. It would be weird to release it on a Sunday. Maybe a June 13 release? After all, Apple was founded on April Fool's Day, so why not have a major release on Friday the 13th?

If the launch is indeed June 27, why would they need all of their employees to be around starting June 15? Will they need two weeks of training?

It's coming!

WWDC will be the place. Immediate availability.
I hope:
16gig 3G $399
32gig 3G $499

Also if AT&T subsidized, that would be very, very nice.:)

GPS included! Bring it on.

That didn't take long. Now when the iPhone 2 comes out with 3G, we can start the "this network sucks and is way too slow, bring on 4G!!" :p

Seriously though, yeah I agree. Macrumors, the point is clear; 3G iPhone in June. We got it. I can't stress that enough.

Dear Apple,

Dont forget to add a flash to the 8 mp camera and a 2nd camera on the front for video chat. Copy and Paste. Flash support. And I will upgrade from 2g. If you forget this request I will not upgrade...

Thank you in advance,

Loyal Customers

This would be nice. Count me in for the 32gb, even if not subsidized. :)

*crossing fingers* I'm headed out of town on June 22. I'd love to take my new iPhone on the trip with me! Of course, with my luck, they will have them in stock on the day I get BACK.

Immediate availability is unlikely. They will most likely announce the 3G iPhone at WWDC and then ship it a week or so later.

As for 16/32GB models priced at $399/499, I think you're dreaming. But hey, don't we all?

I wonder what new features will be on this new iPhone besides 3G, GPS and the 2.0 software. I have a feeling GPS won't make the cut, I just hope Apple doesn't let it's customers down.

lol yeah, new slogan:
MacRumors: Forums - "Apple, you can never f:apple::apple::apple:ing please us."

Dreaming is good! :D

seriously, I think is very reasonanble. Apple will keep probably the same price points, or even keep the 8gig at $299. They want to move this thing fast and furious.
As for availability, I would not be surprise to see it at the event, but a week later won't kill anyone. ;)

Well I can't wait for the price drop... lol!

Remember last year's fiasco?

(highly unlikely to happen this time around - but you can always imagine, right?)

You know, I'm not going to lie. I don't care what they put in it, I love getting overhyped about meaningless materialistic product launches.

And before anyone gets mad at "sarcasm," just know that I really am entirely serious.

Hey guys, great news but what is the likely hood of a 32gb iPhone, cus I really would like more storage than my 16gb Touch if i'm going to get one. Thanks

Immediate release after WWDC. It will give developers to test their apps out before the App Store opens a few weeks later.

32gb for $500 would be bonkers. i'm already stoked for it. i can't believe i waited a year for an iPhone, but it seems like it will be worth the wait.
if they subsidize these guys they'll sell like hot-cakes. let's hope production is in full force so there aren't any shortages.
