It's coming!

WWDC will be the place. Immediate availability.
I hope:
16gig 3G $399
32gig 3G $499

Also if AT&T subsidized, that would be very, very nice.:)

GPS included! Bring it on.

If AT&T can do the same $150-200 discount with a two year contract, the Slvr is being retired.

Holy Shhhhh...!

You mean apple is putting out a new iPhone? That's great news. I bet you will be able to get the internet on it too.

I think that this is going to be a great device and Apple is going to correct most of the issues that existed in the 1st Gen iPhone.
I think that the phone will replace the 1st Generation phone and it will be offered at similar prices as what is currently offered.
One thing I am trying to figure out is why Apple has chosen to keep the iPod Touch one step ahead of the iPhone when it comes to storage.

If the launch is indeed June 27, why would they need all of their employees to be around starting June 15? Will they need two weeks of training?

Well some of them probably will need training, but I would expect a lot of that to be time devoted to supplying and stocking all the stores, and working on the flashy new Apple displays.

I am confident that El Steve-O will debut the iPhone 2 at the WWDC, so he can make a grandstand Keynote presentation, and may even allow online ordering at that time, but the phones probably wouldn't then start shipping out until the 27th (ish).

This sounds very interesting however, I'd like to see the actual memo. I'm sure it was handed down via company email or other internal communication medium.

The size of the device. They made some comment about how the Touch will always be one step ahead due to internal components and space.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/4A102 Safari/419.3)

So it may possibly sooner than some initially thought. I was guessing that summer meant late August and still didn't give the anniversary thread much credit but I'm starting to believe that it may actually happen in late June. The more credible rumors the better. Time is drawing near.

Oh man. If they subsidized this phone I'd be so happy, but I'm sure all the current iphone users under contract would be PISSED! But hey selling your current iphone would pay for the difference.

Oh well, can you say early adoption fee :D?

What about the FCC?

Doesn't the FCC need to approve the new iPhone before it can be sold? In the past, once the FCC does approve of a device, the seller has taken at least 6 weeks before the item goes on sale.

Even if the FCC announcement came out today. The earliest Apple could have the sale would by Wednesday, June 17th. This would rule out WWDC.

Dear Apple,

Dont forget to add a flash to the 8 mp camera and a 2nd camera on the front for video chat. Copy and Paste. Flash support. And I will upgrade from 2g. If you forget this request I will not upgrade...

Thank you in advance,

Loyal Customers

I'm sure if Apple did this and the phone was $800+ you wouldn't complain.

Whats the streak of consecutive days with an iPhone rumor at now? I think we're in for one a day until the launch. Nothing but good news for Apple fans and shareholders as you can't ask for better viral marketing than this product.

Meanwhile, I'm one offer completion away from getting my "free" iPhone from Transcendent Innovations. But I'm holding off completing my year long odyssey until they release the 3G. Don't want to get stuck with a crappy outdated 1st Gen iPhone now.

32gb for $500 would be bonkers. i'm already stoked for it. i can't believe i waited a year for an iPhone, but it seems like it will be worth the wait.
if they subsidize these guys they'll sell like hot-cakes. let's hope production is in full force so there aren't any shortages.

$500 for a phone nowadays in our economy, AT&T better be ready to do some subsidizing....

I don't know of many current users (both locked and unlocked) I'm in direct contact with are planning to upgrade from the current one...

People are willing to change their 1st gen iPhone for a new one after they like paid $400 bucks for the first one?! I bought my unlocked Nokia N73 in August with an extra 3 years warranty for a grand total of $500 and I don't plan to change my phone in the next 4 years.

I hadn't initially planned on replacing my iPhone this year since I just bought it in October, but now I'm going to be moving to the UK at the end of the summer and will be forced to buy a new phone since my current one won't work over there (unless I unlock it and I have no desire to do that). So it looks like I'm going to have to get a new iPhone. Darn... :)

AT&T Pricing Plan

It's not the price of the phone that concerns me. I can usually take a 1X hit to the wallet for a gadget I really want. What I'm wondering about is if AT&T is going to use rollout of 3G to raise their monthly data charges. Does anyone have any experience in 3G costing more than Edge with other programs? If it's going to cost more per month I'm likely sticking to my gen 1 phone.

Lawl, 8mp camera phone. What in the world do you need an 8mp camera phone for. It has no real lens! You want 8mp and then use the "digital zoom". Le sigh.

The hoopla surrounding a new iPhone might give them an excuse to raise rates, but hoopla is temporary. I'd expect (and hope) that competition with other carriers will be a stronger factor affecting rates.

Another 12 month wait?!?!

With all the iPhone talk, I can't believe it's only been out just a year. Here's my dilemma...I'm walking around with a Blackberry 7100t that I can't stand and I got in December 2004. Did I mention the thing is ANCIENT?

Anyway, I've been holding off for v2.0 of the iPhone and now it seems that pretty much 1 year to the day later, it's coming. Did I mention that the iPhone launch coincides with my wedding anniversary (June 29th) which makes it oh so easy to remember when it came out ;)

The real problem is that I read somewhere that AT&T has an exclusive on the iPhone for the first 24 months which means in just 12/13 months we could be buying the iPhone through T-Mobile, my current wireless carrier.

What do all of you think? Would you wait?
