Seattle, WA - July 19, 2010 @10.06am - Still capped upstream rate at: <95kbps.

It looks like their facebook wall is jammed with spam I don't even know who to turn to at this point. AT&T just won't own up and some blogs need to make this issue a real big issue.

So ridiculous. NYC suburbs still capped. I'm guessing the whole city is still like this except for midtown east. It'd be great if more people in other areas that were previously capped could report when their coverage was fixed.

Yep. Speeds in Denver still suck too. And for the record, these slow speeds are the same on the iPhone 4 and my wife's 3g. Same same.

Denver, Colorado - Continues to have problems

Spoke with AT&T rep on the phone and asked if they were aware of any network performance issues with 3G upload. The rep said no and that they can't say how fast my phone should be.

Sigh......
Ask to talk to a tech CSR

Still getting terrible speeds in Columbus OH. Latest speed test shows 62 kilobits down, A big fat whopping ZERO up.

Called ATT, they confirmed some towers were down, but had no other information. They tried the usual talk to Apple, update your phone, reset network, blah blah blah. When I told the CSR I did all that, it was silent. I asked for a credit, and got $25.

So call up ATT, demand your credit. Maybe once they give out enough money, they might start to take this seriously.

I just had a call from AT&T! The lady acknowledged there is a "known issue" with the Lucent equipment used on some of the towers and that it has degraded performance for "many people". She did not have an ETA on when the matter would be resolved, and said that "AT&T regrets the inconvenience." I responded that the service has been lacking for almost three weeks now, and that means people are not receiving the service they are buying, and we should have the right to opt out of our contracts if they cannot deliver on their end. Her response was that they were providing 3G speeds, and I invited her to review these pages to see that in many cases the speeds people were reporting were less than EDGE, or even in some cases, less than dial-up services. She said she would relay that to "management".

Bottom line: I won't hold my breath for a solution. I know now that the line I was fed when I called technical support on Saturday (that the degraded towers would be fixed this week) was and is bunk. :(

I contacted them by email and got this reply back:
"Unfortunately, I am going to have to refer you to Apple for this problem, as stated in your email this is a software issue with the iPhone and not an AT&T network issue. I am sorry that I am not able to give a credit for slow upload speeds at this time. We provide the service, but the software is provided by Apple. You can contact Apple at 1-800-694-7466 for additional help."

I don't understand how some of you are getting credit and i'm not...

Just called and the rep told me that several towers in the DC area were either pending work or scheduled for work - IE nothing has really been done.

This is complete BS. AT&T needs to lean on Alcatel/Lucent and get this issue fixed, or replace the equipment at their St. Louis tower sites.

Well, I did it!! I returned my iPhone 4 today because for $300 back in my pocket, I can use my old 3G that has the speeds as my old iPHone 4.

What upload speeds are you getting on your 3G and where are you? I switched back to 3GS and am still getting terrible speeds. Thanks.

Oh k, just got a refund...

Yesterday i replied to a survey about my experience at the att store and gave them an extremely negative feedback (though i tried explaining the problem wasn't with the store rep itself but with att's lack of communication).

Now i was just contacted by the store manager.
He was extremely helpful, looked up the issue online (since he could not find any internal info on the problem) and called me explaining that he finally confirmed the problem and that he had reported this problem to the sales director so he could escalate the issue.

He couldn't give me an estimate for when this would be solved but AT LEAST i got a confirmation that they recognized the issue and were fixing it!

I also got a 40 dollar credit so i'm now very happy...

Let's just hope att solves this fast!

Best,
Luis

Bel Air, Maryland

Disregard.

I was on WIFI

WIFI OFF ....

Download: 2.10 Mbps
Upload: 0.09 Mbps

I am getting results all over the scale! :(

It sucks?

.

I am getting around 80-90 kpbs on uploads which is the same as the iPhone 4.

Why'd you end up returning the 4? It's definitely a network issue and not the phone!

In other news, still waiting for a fix. This has become part of my daily regimen.

Returned my iphone4 yesterday to AT&T store, they charged a 10% restocking fee and refused to make a call to clear the restocking fee up. Had to go back home and call AT&T this morning. Customer service gave me the credit, but I had to go back to store to get it. Store credited my account. WTF?

While I was on the phone with customer service, I made a complaint about the data speed, they connected be to tech support, who told me there is a capacity problem and that I should TURN OFF my 3G service in my GS. WTF again? (I have tested mine and over a dozen friends' phones G, GS, & 4 - none with upload over a 100 - DE, PA, NJ, MD, VA, & KY)

The iphone4 absolutely sucked, the prox sensor worked when it wanted, chin was constantly hitting buttons or if I pulled phone away to look at call waiting, phone locked up. WTF strike three.

I am done with Apple and AT&T, they keep pointing the finger at each other when it is really up everyone's rear end.

I feel sorry for you buddy!

I really feel sorry for you buddy, i've only had good experiences with my iPhone 4!

The only problems i had were actually related to at&t (first activating my phone and now with the 3g upload speeds)...

Things are a lot better in Cleveland now. 4 Mbps down and 1.5 Mbps up in the area I'm in right now. I'll get home later on and run some tests there to see if things are better in all the areas I tend to be in in my city.
