My office is near grand central (42nd and park) and I was able to get 1mb upload this week. But my house is in flatiron and I am stuck at 95k up.

That's good to know, thanks. Just wondering, did the capping problem even hit midtown east? Or did they recently just fix it?

Yup we all got hit. I used to get HSUPA speeds on the 2nd of this month for the last time, then ALL parts of NYC were capped at 100kbps. went many times to the same areas I was getting good speeds, and they were capped as well. They must've fixed it a day or two ago.

I'm getting HSUPA on 58th street between 3rd and Lex. They probably have a repetitor on that block.

Just went into an AT&T store in Central Ohio and ran a speedtest. I couldn't believe it, wasn't expecting the results. Awful, worst I have gotten anywhere - 797 down, 243 up. They are really messed up! Usually the stores would always be better.

AT&T service with the ios 4.01 iphone - Fewer bars in more places.

243 up is 3 times better than most of us are getting.....

I am back to getting 3Mbps download and about 260Kbps up. It was about 700Kbps up when I first got the phone. On my 3GS I have been getting 260Kbps up for the past year so as long as that hasn't gotten worse on either phone then I haven't lost anything.

I was all over NYC yesterday and upload speeds were still the same for me at least. I am heading to my AT&T store to get my SIM replaced maybe that will work ? anyone tried that yet ?

New SIM, no changes!! I was told by the AT&T guy that they are aware of the problem and he knows that it only affects the iPhone 4 but he had no idea when it will get fixed...he was the first person from AT&T who actually knew about this issue.

My experiences...Iphone 4 and ipad 3g

I live in Orem, UT and ive also been experiencing these miserable upload speeds everyvody has been talking about.

Not just on my iphone 4 but also on my ipad 3g.

Ive complained to att both over the phone and at a store and they said they did not know of any issues with their network...
They tried balming it on the iphone, number of users and place i was connecting from.

The problem is that:
A) ive connected from different cities in UT
B) during the morning, afternoon, evening and dusk
C) im experiencing these problems on boh the iphone and ipad
D) it was working perfectly about 3 to 4 weeks ago

They tried changing my sim card but that, obviously, did not help!

They also told me to clean the cookies, cache and reset the network settings...
Although this OBVIOUSLY had nothing to do with the upload speeds i complied (but guess what, surprise surprise...had no effect on anything).

They really dont kmow what they are doing and are treating us as idiots...
I, for one, really believe this is related to a cap that went wrong and those idiots arent fixing the issue...

I really love this country and just recently moved here but i really cant believe how no one is taking action against them?!?

I cant believe how people are blowing the iphone antenna issue out of proportion when, compared to this, is a simple drop in an ocean...

They started by saying it only affected 2% of teir wireless users and was only happening in big cities...well ***** you att, i live in Orem and im pretty sure you are giving us manipulated data.

I bought the iphone and ipad so i could work and share my awesome experiences in this amazing country with my family in Portugal and now i cant even do that (altough i sure as hell am paying for the service...)

I ended up leaving an att store yesterday pretty frustrated and the only thing they told me was to contact apple, as this was an iphone issue...

If i were Apple i would really reevaluate my partnership with att...
With partners like these, who needs enemies!

P.s. Sorry for the any spelling mistakes )

Best,
Luis

And by the way...

I forgot to mention im getting speeds of around 6 to 12 kb/s (upstream) and around 150 to 210kb/s (downstream) in orem, provo, spanish fork, lehi and other surrounding cities.

I went into an AT&T store today, ran the seed test and got the same 95-100 Kbps up. I'm in Nassau County, Long Island.

Judging from how the download speeds are consistently up and down and that the upstream rates are capped at < 100kbps, you can bet AT&T won't change a damn thing.

Looks like we are ******** for life on AT&T's network with an Iphone 4. I'm just really pissed off at AT&T because these jerkoffs can't do anything without making their customers pissed off.

I was up in Parma, Ohio and the upload speeds were far better than where I normally am in my city. Seems that they are fixing tower by tower.

I'm sure it'll be fixed in time. Question is just how long. We have it pretty bad all over NYC and the suburbs, but if people are starting to report that some areas are coming back, it's only a matter of time.

I think that I might go back to my 3GS. I cannot deal with this issue anymore :-(
In addition to slow data, I only have 3 to no bars in my iPhone. I was told that it is how it suppose to look after the upgrade by an AT&T tech.
I guess I will wait until they fix it and then rebuy the i4 again.

* Changing SIMs won't help

* Whomever told you only iP4 is affected is not being truthful - unless they'll admit to throttling only iP4, which is highly doubtful at this point (different when it was first rolled out - then I could see the wisdom in doing so)

Switching back to a 3GS will not help. The problem is on the network side, there is nothing you can do at this point. See various posts in this thread.

If I lived in an area impacted by this, you damn betcha I'd be getting credits on my bill. I'd suggest everyone impacted call AT&T and (being polite) tell them that your data speeds are not acceptable, you bought an HSUPA phone and you are not seeing the higher upload speeds.

Why the fix isn't applied everywhere already is odd. I can certainly think of some technical issues at play here but this is getting to be beyond the pale.

I actually did get a credit of $43 yesterday...My bars have really gone down also

Grand Rapids, MI

I have a screenshot from shortly after I got the iPhone for of my speediest on 3G. I got 3553 down, and 1653 up. Now, 1940 down and 98 up. What's the story? I'm sorry, I dont have time to read through the whole thread. Will it do any good notifying AT&T?

Yes you should. More people should call AT&T and tell them until they decide to move their butts to fix this issue which by the way has been around since July 3rd for most of us here in this thread in many areas of the country. AT&T said back in July 7 that they are aware of the issue and that it is a glitch some of their Lucent-Alcatel equipment. There is only 2% of iPhone 4 that are affected as per AT&T which makes no sense at all.

I think I got the winner!!!

2kbps upload! someone beat that! I'm North NJ 45 min outside NY, and I'm really pissed.

See the following story:

Many of the people in this thread are still affected by this speed cap and still no word from AT&T. Seems to be getting better day by day, but it's still really bad all over the tri-state NY area.

Thanks for the info guys, I'll definitely give them a shout, let them know it's unacceptable and that I want a credit on my bill.

3GS speeds

I returned my Iphone 4 last week for various reasons, including the capping. Now I am using my 3Gs again and am still getting lousy upload speeds. I wonder if the account is capped now that I have had a iP4. What are others getting on 3GS. DOes anybody know what is typical?

Denver, Colorado - Continues to have problems

Spoke with AT&T rep on the phone and asked if they were aware of any network performance issues with 3G upload. The rep said no and that they can't say how fast my phone should be.

Sigh......
