Tell them to check the "News" section of the AT&T Facebook page. Should be there.

Thanks vincez... I called back and tried to get them to look at the facebook/news but I was told by the tech rep she can not access facebook from her work computer.. The frustration continues.

In desperation, I am emailing the news outlets that have reported on this and am asking to follow-up and find out why a 3 week old issue has not even been brought to the attention of their tech reps.....:confused::confused:

MacRumors reports:

"AT&T to Fix iPhone 4 Upload Speed Issues Over Next 2-3 Weeks
Monday July 26, 2010 12:34 PM EST; Category: iPhone
Written by Eric Slivka
Reuters reports that AT&T is planning to roll out fixes for a software defect that has hampered upload speeds for iPhone 4 and other users in a number of markets over the next two to three weeks. Users began noticing the problem over the 4th of July weekend, and AT&T subsequently blamed the issue on a software problem with some of its network equipment made by Alcatel Lucent.
The No. 2 U.S. mobile operator said on Monday it had begun rolling out an Alcatel-Lucent software patch that would restore uplink speeds for its high-speed data services that depend on so-called HSUPA technology.

"This patch will be deployed on a phased basis over the next two to three weeks," AT&T spokesman Mark Siegel said.

AT&T, the exclusive U.S. provider for iPhone, said the iPhone 4, the latest Apple device, was the only smartphone that runs on its HSUPA network.

Reports of the issue being fixed started appearing over this past weekend, but some users may have to wait several more weeks before they see upload speeds returning to normal."

We will believe it when we see it!

Northern NJ looks like its getting fixed alright...

The great Carnack has the answers:

  • AT&T automatically credits us for our troubles!
  • AT&T alerts the call center about this issue.
  • AT&T updates us to the roll out of the fix, which areas will be hit first, second, third...

To the question:
How will you know you are dead?

What do you mean they auto credit for troubles? So I will see a lower bill this month without me needing to call them?

No, I meant that if the day ever came that they did that you would know you were dead. Cause it ain't happening. It was my attempt at humor.

Still sucks here in PA.

Some changes in South Jersey/Philly:

SpeedTest: 3209/1360
XtremeLabs: 2271/755

Glad to finally see some progress here on the problem.

hahahahahaha

no that's not normal.
but it is funny.

It's really not abnormal. There are so many variables in cellular radio receiving/transmitting, that you're likely going to see different results every time. There are places and times when my upload is faster than download and vice versa.

Not any better for me in DC

DC seems to be back. Just got 3.67 Mbps down, 1.23 Mbps up.

Where are you in DC? I live in Georgetown and go daily to Bethesda. In neither location nor on the way did I get upload speeds above 91kbps. I'm going to see how things work in Arlington VA tomorrow.

I did notice this morning that the phone appeared snappier, but it seems to have slowed down to it's old data download/upload speeds again. Download sometimes gets over 2000 kbps. Upload is unacceptable.

Yeah Seattle seems to be fixed. Although only for my wife's iphone4. My 3GS still gets .08 upload

My wife's 3GS speeds are: 3800 kpbs down - 450 kbps up compared to my iPhone 4 speeds of 1850 kbps down- 1000 kbps up. Is this normal guys ?

i don't think there is a "normal". my wife's i4 is seeing 3.5 down 2 up. my 3gs in the same location gets 2.5 down and .08 up.
