For some reason I can't get the full discount until 02/21/2011, though I'm pretty sure I bought the iPhone 3GS within the first week of it being released. I'm assuming, then, that it must have to do with something with our bill, but I'm not entirely sure.

Is this "discounted iPhone upgrade at a higher price" referring to +200$ (so, $399 or $499 for the two different levels of storage) or what?

And is there anything I can do to bump it up to launch date?

seems like this is happening to a lot of people...maybe they realized they made a mistake with people that purchased 3GS and are readjusting the early upgrade dates? February sounds like the normal early upgrade for people who purchased phones in June/July. Also sounds extremely generous of them all of a sudden letting people skip out on a year of a contract just to renew and purchase a new phone (especially when so many people purchase one every year and pay the higher costs).

I am eligible for a full upgrade on my iPhone and I've had it for less than a year.
Sweet :)

Same thing happened to me. I'm so pissed right now. Here is my thread on it.

All lines on my family talk are "iPhone upgrade" eligible with an unspecified "discount" - 2 of which shouldn't be!

An iPhone 3GS line as well as another line that isn't an iphone, but was only purchased within last 12 months.

Woo!!!!

Same here. I'm assuming I will pay 399 for the new one

I check my upgrade eligibility yesterday and I was eligible for a a full discount but today I'am only eligible for a partial discount. Has this happen to anybody else?

if all four of my family plan lines are eligible only for the partial upgrade (i assume 399 for the 32 gig one?) and only my sister and i would use the iphones, then wouldn't it make the most sense to upgrade all four lines, get four iphones (4x400 = 1600) and sell two of them for about 1000 maybe?

If you did this, and ended up getting good money for the two that you are selling, you might still run into a bit of a snag with the two lines that won't be using the 4th gen iPhone (since you'd have sold the phones), in the fact that those lines would now be on a micro-SIM card that isn't going to work in a non-iPhone handset, without an adapter at least. If you have a source to get the adapters, then you could use the micro-SIMS in older handsets with no problem.

Nice, they just upgraded my plan and I'm now fully eligible for an upgrade. As of a week ago I was only eligible for a partial upgrade. I might keep my 3gs as a backup now.

Hi All. Ok, so I was wondering about my situation ... I just moved to a 3GS about a week and half ago. I had a Samsung phone which broke. When I moved to the 3GS this option was not available to me. Now come to today, I have this upgrade option now. I had to even add a line to move into the 3GS cause I was only 3 months away from my handset upgrade ... I assume I can just return everything and move to the new iphone when it's released?

Out of my 2 lines (mine and my bros), mine got pushed to full upgrade eligibility. I was due for the full upgrade 04/11/2011 and now I am eligible forfull equipment discount. My brother's still shows elibility on 04/11/2011 and his line doesn't show any discounts.

Only difference between our lines is that I pay for 1500/month texts where as he pays 200/month. Other than that same 450 anytime + $30 data plan.

Very wired case.

wow you're lucky! you are the first person i have seen get bumped up from a 2011 date! i am jealous!

Not so lucky for this iPhone owner. My wife and I have had our 3G iPhones since Sept of 2008 but are still not eligible until Sept of this yearfir the discounted price and to waive the $18 fee. Don't quite understand why? We've paid at least $160/month for the family plan. It's one of the reasons I skipped the 3GS phone so I could easily upgrade to the 4th gen model. Hope this changes soon considering my 3G won't support multitasking in the new OS update. The only thing I can possibly figure is a change of our plan last year to add minutes to add the 'A-list' numbers. Still, it's been over 18 months since we last upgraded from the original iPhone to the 3G.

I'd say try calling AT&T. It worked for one guy.

Is it true that the new iPhone might go on sale today ?? I mean you can o and pick one up at an apple or an AT&T store?

I just logged into my AT&T account, and I had been eligible to upgrade on 8/28/2010. However, I can now upgrade to another iPhone right now if I wanted to. So I guess depending on what the new iPhone will have, I may be pre-ordering it.

A week ago I was not eligible for an upgrade until 11/20/10, today it appears I am eligible now...
