If at&t has removed the opt-out on your account or you have the family texting plan.

I know, but they said it was working fine when wifi was off (meaning the opt-out code was removed from their account)

therefore they just need the modified settings to get it to work with wifi on as well

forgive me for being but I don't quite know what the "opt-out" thing is about. I went under my account, edit or what not but did not see an "opt-out" option(s) anywhere. What are you referring to?

It's nothing that you can change. It is the block AT&T had on iPhone accounts

i changed the settings yesterday, as per your PM, but ive found that mms is not working via wifi... it works flawless over 3g though

That's odd...did you hard reboot or do the slide to power off after you changed them?

Has anyone figured out how to get around the RED EXCLAMATION marks error? It worked on my phone and I tried it on my friends phone at work and he is getting the exclamation marks and the settings are exactly the same.

any ideas?

HELP!!!
 
Works Great!

This works great for me... didn't at first, but I let it sit over night and now I'm passing mms message back and forth to another iphone on my plan no problem and whats even better it's just as fast as a txt message.

im still getting the red !
 
So I did this hack according to both posted instructions, killr and ashad0509 and tried all sorts of comboinations of the settings posted from using the username and password to not to using :80 after the proxy to not and I still get the red exclamation. I did call att and they said the opt out wasnt on my account it should be ready on the 25th. Also talked to someone online via chat and they told me the same thing. I did at one point earlier today see a switch for tethering to turn on and off and explained how to hook it up via usb or bluetooth. I do not have that setting anymore after playing with the settings more. I have unlimited texts on an individual plan. Also I'm in NY and so far from what I've read online it seems to be working for most people west of here. Havent seen any east coasters working yet.

Any ideas?

Get a ZuneFone? J/k I tried the same combo of settings and tweaks and nothing. I still have tethering on mine though. Reset to factory and start all over?

I wish that I could have tethering so that I wouldn't have to carry yet another device. Oh yeah and I don't want to have to jailbreak.

i read everything. did everything just like the post says. it isn't till page 3 where everyone is asking if you have a family txt plan or individual. i am on individual txt plan. i guess thats why its not working.
 
I did everything in these posts and I am getting the red ! also.. I've tried everything, and still no dice.. I guess I will wait until the 25th...

I personally don't use MMS, but there has been times where my parents (who are less tech savvy), will use it because it's simply easier to use than email.
 
Anyone else have this problem? I followed the guide to a tee and now my apps won't work. I called AT&T and they confirmed that the opt-out hasn't been taken off of my account. My apps start to load and then they just close out completely. I have MMS enabled and all that jazz, just no apps ;/

[edit] problem fixed after resetting connection settings to factory default. whew
