So, I just went to change my plan on AT&T's website, it will cost me $60 more a month. I am not switching. And like I said above, the FAN discount only applies to the first $60 of the $100 plan for the first phone and nothing else. AT&T is slowly going to phase out the FAN discounts. And you don't get any discount per phone is using NEXT or Off Contract phones, from what I can see on their website. Tethering was not a big deal as we only used it when we went on road trips...

I did an online chat this morning and was told that I would get zero discount for my FAN. The cost savings is only about 18 dollars per month. To only save 18 dollars and give up mobile spot does not appear to be worth it for me even though I would add unlimited calling to Mexico and Canada. I have the 30/15 mobile share plan from when AT&T had the double data promotion. I am averaging around 15gb for both of my lines at present. I guess I will stay with what I have for now.

I wonder if we will see a better offer later this year if AT&T does not see a big uptake on this new plan.

I gave up my unlimited plan a few years back and went with the 3 GB option because I wasn't using much data. Then they upgraded the allotment to 6 GB and then later on introduced the data roll over plan. So as of right now, I have just over 10 GB of data I can use for this month.

When I look at my usage history going back to October 2015, I'm averaging 1 GB of data usage.

So at this point, I still don't need unlimited data (whatever their definition of unlimited is).

Wow, you must not use your phone outside of the house at all! I consistently use 10-12gb of data, but then again, I'm always on the go. No Netflix and Chill here!

For what it's worth, I think you can safely combine your DirecTV account and your AT&T wireless account so that both services will show up on one bill if you decide you want to do that. Simply combining the two accounts under your AT&T ID online will not remove the FAN, from my experience. I combined the accounts back in September and my FAN remained intact on the wireless account. When I tried to apply for the AT&T/DirecTV billing combination discount online earlier today via the website, the site wouldn't let me and prompted me to call a phone number to get help with the order.

As an aside, I just checked under my DirecTV account on the AT&T site and I'm now showing a "loyalty credit" of $10 per month for the next 12 months starting today. So, somewhere along the line, one of the five people I spoke with must've added that to my account. No one told me they were doing that nor did I agree to any kind of contract or anything like that in exchange for the credit. I guess it pays to be nice. ;) My FAN is still showing up on the wireless side, as well.

I also combined my bill(Cell service & Directv) a few months back and receive both the 10$ credit AND Fan discount on cell service without any issues. This should be possible.

Just saw on another forum that teathering will not be allowed on these new unlimited plans.
That's what a solid Jailbreak solves. iOS 3.0 forever!!
[doublepost=1452611589][/doublepost]
This comes out to the exact same price I'm paying for 9 phones and 80GB shared with rollover we usually have around 100GB/month.
And my bill will drop soon when 3 Next phone payments and 1 contract phone are done. That will remove approx. $130 from the overall bill.
You're paying for NINE phones? Can I hop on your plan?

Nope. Nearly every place that I go has WiFi. The only time I use cellular is when I'm at the gym or driving (streaming from Spotify).

I called AT&T. The reps are also in the process of learning about this. From what the person I spoke to can find, he thinks that the FAN discount would only apply to the first line and the $40 fee for each additional line will be considered an access fee so the discount wouldn't apply. He wasn't positive but he thinks it will go that way.

^^^This is what I was told as well.

I have 7 phones on the mobile share 40gb plan and thought of changing to unlimited. If it fact the FaN discount applies only to first line I would be paying 60$ more to switch to unlimited. I'll pass.

so i have linked uverse and wireless and i was adding the unlimited plan to my account and right before confirmation i got this notification

"
Be sure to sign up within 60 days or you'll lose your unlimited data.

Select Submit to switch to the AT&T Unlimited Plan."

but its already on my account did anybody else get this warning?

I wonder if there is any cost savings for the grandfathers unlimited plans? And if so, maybe that's who AT&T is targeting here? However, the plans they give existing AT&T & DirecTV/U-Verse customers, the cost just doesn't justify switching, especially if you have a FAN discount.

They are wrong. If you go online and do a compare, it shows that you FAN discount is applied only to the $60 plan. There is no discount on each phone cost. Currently I have 30GB family share plan (which was original the 15GB, but back when they have Get Double Data promotion, I signed up for it. So, that 130, I have 6 smart phones, that $15 each, so my bill is 187.50 for my plan (fan discount is $32.50 or 25% of 130). With the new unlimited plan, it's $60 for plan and $40 each per phone or $285 (fan discount is $15 or 25% of 60). It's a no brainer here. Not switching, not for unlimited data and roaming to Canada (though this would be nice, since they are right in my back yard) and Mexico. I did forget to mention, that the 4th phone is free, so I the bill would be 248, still it's $60 more for the unlimited plan. Maybe if I win the Powerball I would consider...lol

I can confirm that the FAN discount applies to the plan cost only, which for the unlimited plan is $60.00. It does not apply to the device access fee ($40 per smartphone). This is the same way the FAN discount has always worked, as far as I know. For two smartphones, the unlimited plan is coming up for me as $80 (access) + $45.60 (plan) = $125.60 plus taxes and fees.

is anybody else getting a must add uverse warning within 60 days or lose the plan?

i have it linked already but who knows

How do you link Cell Service & Directv online? I can not seem to figure it out....

the top it says link accounts or something like that thats how i find i the first time.

also if you do combine billing you save $10 a month for ever!

So, basically, all that stuff about unlimited being impossible and degrades other people's service and blah blah was all horsesh*t.

No, no, this is 'we make so ****ing much money from Uverse that we can do whatever we want with mobile and still make out like bandits'.

Uverse is literally 95+% profit for them.

I call it the 22gb per line plan. I'm not sure why they use "unlimited" when it's clearly not.

With directv, I usually call them once in a while and complain and get credits. I wonder if they'll be as flexible if you combine your cellphone with it.

Anyways, the lack of tethering is probably a deal breaker along with the bold faced lying about "unlimited" data and then saying they cut you off after 22gb.

This is because they want people to get off of the double-your-data promo where some people have 30-60GB of data and paying for half of that. The unlimited is just trickery to cap you at a lower limit than the lowest double your data plan.

CAREFUL people! This is a bait & switch tactic. Already spoke to a regional rep from AT&T on this.

I'm not defending AT&T here, but they don't 'cut you off' after 22 GB. They simply reserve the right to deprioritize your traffic after 22 GB (i.e. throttle you). T-Mobile does the exact same thing except their "magic number" before they deprioritize your traffic is 23 GB and they also call it an 'unlimited' plan.

I just logged into my account and selected change plan.

The Unlimited plan shows tethering on it. I am not saying it is indeed accurate, but it does in fact show it is included.

Can you post a screenshot? And are you now able to turn on tethering on your iphone?

When I click the arrow to toggle through the plans, as soon as I stop at "Unlimited", the Personal Hotspots feature disappears from the list of features. Not sure where you're seeing that it's still an option on the unlimited plan but I'm sure it's a mistake that will be fixed quickly as they've indicated explicitly that personal hotspots are not supported on the unlimited plan.

As an aside, I would consider switching over to the unlimited plan in a heartbeat if they let me use a certain amount of the data for a hotspot like T-Mobile does. Anything between 1 GB and 5 GB per month would be fine with me. I don't use the personal hotspot feature too often but there are times when I've needed to get online with my laptop and a hotel's connectivity sucks, for example. The fact that personal hotspot is not usable at all on the unlimited plan makes it a nonstarter for me.

My plan last month had overages that were waived, so my price on column one is wrong. I pay 159.00 for
(1) unlimited, (2)- 3GB of data, with 550 shared minutes - upgraded to unlimited minutes. Plus 20.00 for unlimited text.

Was trying to price the new plan with the Fan but it does not allow me. I presume it's 180/month, less 25% off the 60 on the first line only.
Essentially, 165 + Taxes.

Sound about right?

Wow, hang on to that screenshot. Maybe you'll be able to use it to convince AT&T to turn the hotspot feature back on for you if they cut it off down the road if you switch to the unlimited plan.

When I priced it out with two smartphones, the cost was $80 for the two smartphones (device access) and $45.60 for the plan (24% discount on $60.00). The FAN discount only applies to the plan cost, not the device access cost.
