It took me three amicable and well-worded sentences to get the upgrade fee waived. The CSR said "Let me look into this for you" and came back with "the $36 fee has been credited to your account" within two minutes. Admittedly, they did mishandle my pre-order and I used that experience as cause for removing the fee.

This is the third time in a week that I have gotten exactly what I wanted with an AT&T CSR and within just a few minutes. They have been nothing but excellent with me.
 
It worked for me on the chat. I forgot to copy my exact language, but I politely said that I have been an on time paying customer for a number of years now, and asked if they could waive my most recent upgrade fee. They said they would, but warned that it was a one time deal, and that the fee is valid and will be charged in the future.

+$36 :cool:
 
Just got it done through their Live Chat.

Kyle Hewitt's a dick. He wouldn't waive it.

Next up was Elsa Moreno. What a sweetheart. She waived my fee.

Single line $36 fee, copied and pasted the line from OP with minor edit - replaced "Good Morning" with GOOOOOOOOOD MORNING VIETTTNAMMM !

Oh $36.00 is easy to get waived....my dog could do it. Its the $250.00 that is impressive. HOW DO YOU ALL DO IT?! Haha
 
Anyone here work for AT&T?
I'm stuck on the $15/200MB grandfathered data plan and really want to get the $25/2GB one instead of the new $30/3GB... any way to move up in the grandfathered plan... Tried to call ATT and they were not able to help. :rolleyes:

So for the people who had to do multiple chats and were successful, how long did you wait until you tried again?

first person i got no response from and immediately tried again and got it removed
 
I pre ordered my wife's iPhone 5 on the phone with at&t (which hasn't yet shipped) on the last day of my billing cycle and was charged the $36 upgrade fee when I got the bill today. I did a chat today and asked that the upgrade fee be waived. I said Sprint and Verizon are doing that for their customers who upgrade to the iPhone 5. LOL

After a few minutes of silence from the rep, he said this was not normal but said he'd waive the fee as a one time courtesy. I just hope when the phone comes and I activate it, they don't try to charge me again.

I also hope whenever Best Buy gets my iPhone 5 for me, I can manage to get my upgrade fee waived too using the same method.

Same here, been trying for a couple hours.

Are you using Safari? For some odd reason the chat link does not show up for me either when I use Safari (on both a Mac and a PC)

However, it does show up if I use IE9 or Chrome on a PC.

Fees waived BTW. Thanks OP! You get my upvote. :)
