Lol, op is mad that he gets 0 service and when he does his phone only gets like 1 mbps and can't use the phone at the same time.

In other words, he mad.

O and op, enjoy 2g speeds while i'll enjoy 4g speeds.

Silmultaneous Voice and Data: Really? Have you watched the AT&T commercials? There is a guy at work, a guy at home, and a guy at the coffee shop. What do all 3 of these have in common? It's called wifi. Even AT&T can't think of a place where it's needed. LOL

I think your post is childish but your point above is funny.

It was meant as a joke. I work at Wal Mart and could never do anything but talk bs from my moms basement.

LTE has nothing to do with the iPhone, so not sure what LTE pings have to do with this conversation.

Look you aren't the only customers with access to the iPhone anymore. Now most people can get an iPhone.

Quit throwing out BS

We were FIRST damn it!!!! :D

HSPDA is superior: First thought when choosing a phone. What's the best carrier in your area? If they are on 2G or shotty coverage it doesn't matter how fast it is. Secondly unless you are downloading large files you probably aren't going to notice the speed. Why? I am glad you asked. It's called ping. Verizon's ping is fast averaging around 200. AT&T averages 350. This means if you are pulling 7mbps on AT&T and I am pulling 2mbps on Verizon our pages will open at the same pace.

If browsing and downloading\uploading is adequate for your phone then who cares about the fastest.

As for not noticing speed difference, that's complete BS. When I tried the Evo with Sprint, browsing and downloading stuff was significantly faster than the iPhone 4. It felt like Wifi. So I'm pretty sure a difference of 5mbps(as you mentioned) would be somewhat noticeable on a mobile device. Also I average around 130 in ping from multiple speed tests via speedtest.net app and FCC test. AT&T's ping & speed has noticeably improved at least in NYC.

Really? Right back at ya

You must not realize how crappy and unreliable most free wifi services are. I been connected to a ton of free wifi spots from AT&T, Starbucks, McDonlands, and etc. Most are below 1mbps or just a little above. It's to the point where I made sure to forget those networks under wifi settings, cause I had moments where data would decrease dramatically and/or just hang, only to realize every time I'm next to a company's free hot spot it would automatically connect to that. So no thank you, 3G performs better for me 90% of the time.

Also, I actually do find simultaneous voice & data useful. Don't use it everyday on every single call. But I do it at least once every couple of days. This is something I absolutely would miss. I talk mostly on BT earpiece, BT in my car or the included wired earbuds. Rarely do I talk with the phone to my ear. So simultaneous voice & data really comes in handy.

Give it up. Everyone for the most part can have an iPhone and now it's a world phone, so you don't have that advantage either.

Everyone can now choose a carrier based on what's best for them.

OH NO, I'M NOT PART OF THE ELITE CLUB ANYMORE?????

Umm ... so you what exactly did you expect when you were talking to that AT&T fan boy?

Dude, most of us don't care what you use.

Awww... did I strike a nerve? Sorry you're so bitter about this. FFS, it's just a network and a phone. So what if the rest of us have faster speeds and can use our iPhones the way Apple designed them to work?

Stop drinking so much Haterade.

I agree 99%

I often text while I am on the phone with someone. And now thanks to iMessage, those now going to iPhone users will use data instead. So no iMessage and phone call at the same time on CDMA unless you wait 5 min to have it send as SMS

Silmultaneous Voice and Data: Really?
Stop acting like a tool. I use simultaneous voice and data on a daily basis. I work in IT, I can remotely view/control servers and workstations while on the phone with the user that needs help. Try to do that out of WIFI on the other networks on an iPhone.

Funny I am neutral to this whole argument because:

VZ Customer Service treated me like dirt after 8 years of being with them, all because of a 2 day old smartphone running Android that was flawed, so all I wanted was a refund with no restocking, no dice. I always wanted an iPhone but hey Verizon was useful but then that day came where they treated me like dirt, worked with several managers to no avail. Went to Best Buy and bought a 3G, used it for some time, no issues with data or voice, then 3GS came out same thing, great service great data. Then we noticed with Verizon if you do not constantly update your roaming every month, or if your using an older device your service gets worse. My wife was using a Doid Eris right after they came out, and I was using 3GS. Where ever we went, I had the same amount of bars, and my data seemed faster (never mind it was not an issue about data and voice at the same time). We started to notice the signal with the Eris was getting weaker, and service spotty, went to VZ to get replaced under insurance, but went thru 3-4 and same issue, so store manager says hey buy a new phone and you wont have that problem, my wife and I were like really this Droid Eris was 6 months old and you are telling me if I want good service to buy a new phone at full retail?????

Called customer service back then went to the store after hours of arguments, they sent a replacement again, but sitting in my house no service and we always had service. I had enough, called AT&T went there and tried to move both sons and wife to AT&T with iPhones, then more fun with Verizon trying to port the numbers over, so frustrating dealing with them, decided to just get new numbers on two and ported one with all sorts of issues for 2-3 days. Paid ETF on one VZ phone didn't care as I was treated like a dog, so now 4 of us on AT&T getting good service for Voice and Data, in fact AT&T felt bad and gave me a credit of $50 on my bill bc Verizon had to cry we were leaving and wanted to play rough porting one number over, and blamed AT&T.

Long story short CS for VZ stinks, and I have now been with AT&T 3+ years with 3G, 3GS, and iPhone 4's with no issues, good service etc. If VZ customer service was .10 percent of AT&T's I would never have left, so I am not blaming VZ or AT&T, however I was treated better and every time I call AT&T CS it is a good day, anytime I had to call VZ CS, I cringed and could never do what I had to do for less than 45 minutes on the phone.

Had Sprint and T-Mobile for Work, could not get a signal basically anywhere so I would never go to them.

AT&T is not as bad as ppl make them out to be, so you will always find someone has a preference based on their experience and how they are treated, it is not always about Data and Voice etc, but why can't VZ as strong as they are provide this to their customers? let us be real, then can, but they have it turned off on EVDO, and so far I have not heard if they will enable on LTE, but I doubt they will give you an extra service unless they can make money doing it, so to the point, I pay less for AT&T and get more than I do with Verizon.

Tell AT&T, maybe they can use it in an upcoming commercial.

You are right Caliber, you win.

Still waiting on pics of those ping speeds.

AT&T will download an App, stream a movie, etc faster
Verizon will load web pages and email faster.

You can't say one is "better" than the other. They all have their limitations.

wow, all these threads tonight...man it's like free entertainment tonight :D
got my popcorn and cherry 7-up right here...enjoying the show.

I am still with ATT and more or less it's just because I can talk and surf at the same time. I am not on wifi once I'm out of my house (for the most part). The wifi at work is locked. Thankfully my area (philly) has great 3G coverage with ATT and I'm able to talk and surf with no issues over 3G. If I didn't use this feature so much I would jump ship (tonight) and not only go to what I feel is a better carrier, but get a better upgrade price.

Talk and surf is still kind of a big deal to some of us. Wifi is all over, but it's not everywhere just yet.

Personally, it doesn't bother me when people say "AT&T is the only carrier with the real iPhone" or things of that ilk. Some people want to compare themselves to everyone around them and come up with a way to be superior to those around them. That's their prerogative.

I'm just happy to have the cell phone I want, on the carrier I'd like to use it on. And in the end, my personal satisfaction wins out over a random opinion on the internet every time.
