I got it purchased right away before everyone had the Credit Card company issues. All my co-workers around me purchased the refurb and all had CC issues with their American Express cards. Looks like AMEX got a little nervous with the mass amount of CC purchases coming through for this phone.

Well in most cases refurbs are just returns open or unopened, or unsold stock. So no surprise there. Sadly I have to wait until Monday too. Tis alright though, in the meantime I can ogle the auction of my 8gb iphone.

the iphone didn't arrive in a apple retail box. it is an orange at&t box that says "quality remanufactured equipment" printed on it. The iphone has a film over the screen and came with everything my retail box had. When i say new, i mean not a visible scratch anywhere on it.

Oh and it has a sim card already in it. Shouldn't i just use the one in my current 8g iphone?

Mine is coming Monday

I ordered an 8GB to replace my t-mobile pearl. What is the best way to unlock / jailbreak for those who have done it.

After a hassle with my cc company (in the form of a potential "fraud alert") I finally have a tracking number. I'm champing at the bit for Tuesday (thanks, cc company ). :D:D

My 16GB is arriving monday. I am juiced up as my 8GB broke. I could have waited til they announced the new ones but screw it. $349 for the refurb'd 16GB.... Sold!

If you got a refurbished iPhone this time around what are you planning on doing with it? Are you going to unlock it? Sell it?

I got a 8GB & I'm planning on unlocking it for t-mobile & using it till my contract is up, then selling it & getting a 3G.

Follow the instructions for iPwn or WinPwn in the hacks forum. Super simple once you figure out the steps.

Are the refurbs coming with 1.1.4 firmware? That seems to be the requirement to unlock...mine's hopefully arriving Monday.

Doesn't matter, just put it into restore mode and hook it to your computer. iTunes will then restore or update it to 1.1.4. Then unlock away.

i ended up using the sim card i had. the activation took like 5 minutes. no problems with my 16 gb ip refurb so far.

i put my 8 gb iphone on craigslist for 400 and had 8 emails within 1 hour.

Just received my 8Gb and its unlocked?
I can use the phone features and everything , cant call tho.

That's what happend with the Black MacBooks when Apple updated them. The Apple Store sent unsold stock back to Apple and they were sold as "refurbished"... Mine was essentially new.

I wouldn't count on it ... Presumably someone will write in about the sale / manufacture date on their refurb from this sale, but as I pointed out the last time, pretty much the newest refurbs from the -previous- sale were from October or November 07. Since AT&T has not been overstocked with refurb since then, I suspect many of these may be from Christmas -- particularly the 8gb. Even though my iPhone was a few months old, it still looked pretty much brand new, as did most of them fr what I heard.

Just got mine, and it came in that state too. Although when you hook it up to the computer iTunes still recognizes it as unactivated.

Either way, it's getting pwned immediately so it doesn't matter.

my new one came in today too. unlike the 8gb refurbished i got the other month, this one wasn't activated out of the box. no worries. i jailbroke it/unlocked it just like the last couple. best part is i sold my 8gb last week and it paid for the 16gb and then some!!

I just recieved mine today as well. Mine is basically brand new.
It has 16 mins usage, 12 of that was stand by.
I have 1.1.1 firmware.

I'm so happy!

Question for you guys, how do I go about extending my warrenty through Apple?
