So, I hadn't had any updates online really, but had a call from the Rep I bought from and said to come pick up my 16gb iphone. I drove 20 miles last night to pick it up and my phone wasn't in!

They took my receipt and put it on someone else's box. That guy was there right then buying it. It was an 8gb so I couldn't do anything about it, but it got my hopes up. I guess I'll have no phone for my vacation tomorrow.
 
I ordered mine Sunday morning, and the man at AT&T told me it would take 7-10 days. Does this seem right or should i expect to be waiting longer?

Really depends on what your ordered and where? 16gig-blk is taking longer than 8gig or white. No one really knows but it could be a bit longer.
 
Still no update in order status from yesterday. FRT 0 on back order, Phone 1 on back order. For most of the day yesterday the Phone was 0 on back order too, but flipped back to 1 sometime in the afternoon.

Still early today....

Mine shipped yesterday. Looks like four were sent out to my store yesterday for arrival today. Right now it is on the truck for delivery. I ordered at the AT&T store on Washtenaw in Ann Arbor on Friday evening around 8:00 PM. Black 16gb model. Hopefully I will be picking it up this evening!

There are a lot of people in front of me in the order number queue, I have a hard time believeing that many people ordered and 8 gig or a white.

The rep might have made the assumption that it would be "up to 7 days" but since the launch, the ATT ordering system has never said anything earlier than 7-10 days. So yeah, the rep might have made that assumption, but ATT on the whole never promised anything earlier than 10 days.
 
Sooooo ... I have been following this thread since day one (Friday) and decided to register to join in on the commiserating.

In St. Louis and ordered my 16gb black at about noon on Friday.

I've been enjoying watching the order page flip around. It's almost become an obsession. I was completely fine w/ waiting a couple weeks when I ordered it but then I got the email saying it could be here within a week.

So I stopped in at my local store yesterday just to see if somehow I could luck out (it's on my way home). They said they are continuing to receive daily stock of them for the d/f. Another guy in the back that worked there said that if I ordered it on Friday, I would have it by this Friday (tomorrow). I don't know how much faith I have in the statement, but it really sounded nice.

I'll post updates if anything progresses.

I keep checking the site and there are very few from the store I purchased from showing as shipped. I think I'll just check with them Saturday morning before I go out of town to see how things are coming along. It pains me to keep going back to see my phone back ordered. :)

Just out of curiosity, can you cancel a DF over the phone?

I believe that the first two of the five digit number are some sort of store identifier, so I do not think that they ship in that order.

I don't know about canceling the order.

What model did you order? I saw from what I have read if its the 18G White or 8G it might be accurate but if its the black 18G i doubt the time fram is correct.

DId anyone read the news on people in England? They ran out of stock and are being promised sometime before summer!
 
I've been tracking the orders from Friday & Saturday at my local AT&T store. From the Friday order of 36, 19 have shipped, 13 remain backordered(including mine of course), 6 were cancelled. From the Saturday orders, of the 36 orders made, 3 have cancelled, and the rest remain on back order.


I've become way more obssesed with this stupid phone than I ever intended to be :eek:

I ordered a 8gig at a local AT&T store in Deptford NJ, so i am hopefully going to be getting it by Monday, but who knows.
 
I understand...

At first I was told the iPhone would take about 5-7 days being shipped. But, later on this week, I called and the manager said its more like 2-3 weeks.

So I'm thinking it would be arriving in about October!

Couldn't agree more. I had a rep tell me Tuesday that the 3G comes with a dock. It doesn't. But they don't sell the dock in the stores here.

With all the information that's readily available from official sites, how hard would have been for the store manager to gather it up and post '10 things about the new 3G' in their break-room. And have a 10 minute meeting 3 times a week. They've had over a month to get themselves prepped. Take some pride in your job. It's not like it's some budget phone from nokia, it's the freakin' iPhone be prepared. Manager gather your employees, make them knowledgeable and make sure they're telling everyone the same story and that it's accurate.

Also, looking at my store's DF orders, before 7/11 the last one was 5/29. So the DF system isn't one that is used very often. AT&T should have known that and provided additional training to the reps.

And for AT&T to think the DF system the appears to be used fairly infrequently would be able to handle the iPhone sales shows a lack of foresight. ATT and Apple should have known better.

Okay that turned into a rant.
It's only been a few days.....was told 7-10....it's only a phone....."Serenity Now!... Serenity Now!..."
 
The Dock that i ordered yesterday from Apple is in Hong Kong. Delivery date 7/28. I wasn't in hurry so I picked ground shipping. I guess that includes slow boat from china (Ba-Dump-Bump)

If I'm sitting here on the 29th with a dock and no phone I'm going to be one mumbling pathetic loser. Shield yours eyes, look away.
 
I ordered mine from our corporate rep, he said he would order it on Friday, however for some reason it was actually ordered on Monday. Two black 16gbs were shipped yesterday and will be at my office by Friday according to UPS. I think they have more stock then they are willing to admit.

I never got a backorder email, just the acknowledgment email
 
Wow. I almost placed an order on Friday, but I knew the wait would kill me so I took the last 8GB. I'd be going crazy with all this flip-flopping. :eek:
