thats great to hear. what number did you call ?

I called 1-800-331-0500... they were pretty helpful and i was very excited when he told me the white phones were in stock. I then became deflated when told that the black phones were holding up the order.

I actually responded to my own thread (the other one) and my status changed and its no longer back ordered, only the FRT. After speaking to the rep, my phone is ready to ship out except that there is not shipping on Saturday so FRT Back Order status should change on Monday to Shipped once its shipped to my store.

I will hate AT&T

regardless of what the last person said, and how few phones Apple shipped, AT&T handled this completely inappropriately.

I walked in at noon yesterday to a store that had sold out, obviously. I asked about the 16gb white which they said they could order for me and it would be arriving today via DHL at some point. Well, I went by today, and it didn't arrive. I called the above mentioned number, where the AT&T person said all they could see was that a credit check done on me, and did not see that I ordered a phone. this is even though I have a receipt in hand, with an order number. The AT&T shmo could not look up my order number.

Whether or not apple gave them enough phones, AT&T's complete incompetence when it comes to their wireless staff (formally Cingular staff), and managing a sale is inexcusable.

At this point, I have a bill that says I paid $300+tax, and no other information other than maybe it will arrive on Monday. For some reason, I am more than a bit skeptical.

Should I be this bothered by a phone. No. Am I, yes.... and for this I blame AT&T first, and Apple second (not enough phones, and not properly developing the protocol for day-1).

its the order id that starts with "S" but only use the last 5 digits.

Mine begins with FM and has seven numbers following. I tried entering in at the website with a message coming back that it doesn't understand the info I submitted.

I asked this in the other thread but no one answered me.

Those of us who did Direct Fulfillment, can we cancel our orders if we want? I might be able to pick one up from an Apple Store when the lines calm down. The lady I placed the order with said we couldn't cancel the order, but she seemed rather out of touch on things.

I feel like if it hasn't shipped, it should be cancelable.

My AT&T store told me I couldn't cancel if I ordered, but different stores seem to have different answers to the same questions. You probably should call them and ask.

I was told that I could by two reps and one said I couldn't. I'm kinda hoping that I can cancel because I ordered a 8gb and now I kinda wish I would have ordered the 16gb now.

The way ATT handled the 3G launch has been deplorable. I first noticed a problem after standing in line for 3 hours and people began walking out of the store without a iphone. They didn't make an announcement or try and alert customers that they wouldn't be getting a iphone but would be pre-ordering. When finally pressed to tell us they were out of phones they told us if we pre-ordered we would probably get the iphone on Monday or Tuesday. From everything I have read they are lying.

Why come you guys and girls did not ask the people comming out of the store empty handed why they were empty handed? Its all about communication with the people in the line. If you all band together, then you will not all get screwed.

Why are people scared to talk to each other these days?

I was able to cancel my order this morning, but it had to be done in the store. It was the manager who handled it, so it might be a good idea to ask for one. He acted like he wasn't sure if he could, but he was able to call in and cancel it. It shows as being canceled when I check the status online, which is a huge relief for me.

I place my order at the AT&T corporate store on Friday morning at 11 AM. I ordered 1 White and 1 Black 16GB. I paid the Priority Freight on each. I decided to all the automated line tonight. It looks like my phones are on backorder.

At this point, I am hoping that I get a refund for using the Priority Freight. After spending $ 30 for shipping, I believe a refund of my $ 30 is the least AT&T could do regarding the situation.

I really hope I get a call early this week from ATT saying my 16 GB Black iPhone has came.....

I was told 7~10 days at the AT&T store this morning.

I'm still ticked off I can't go to the Apple store and order it because of my discount.

I'm in the same boat. 7-10 with a corporate discount on the plan. Shame that didn't apply to the phone itself. I think that it's more Apple that's screwing AT7T by not giving them as many to their stores as they are to the Apple stores. I certainly can't think of a reason why AT&T would not want as many phones as possible. Fortunately, the pre-order process seemed to go pretty smoothly.

So what should we expect?

Does this mean AT LEAST 7 to 10 days or is that JUST 7 to 10 days if the phone is on backorder?

Will it be longer than 10 days for backorder or just maximum of 10 days?

They won't give you a refund. I went to the AT&T store yesterday and asked and they said no.

I just got an email that said it is out of stock and won't ship for 2 to 3 days.

How long does it usually take to ship because I was never given the option for priority mail (fast shipping)?

When I did a direct fulfillment on Fri. they told me that my phone (a 16GB white) could arrive anytime between Sat. and next Fri. The next day I called to check and a different rep said it usually takes 5-7 business days but could take up to 10.

I was also told at the time of order that my card wouldn't be charged until the phone arrived. Well, I checked my account about an hour after I left the store on Fri. and had a nice $328.90 charged. I find it mildly amusing since it even says on my receipt "Charges not applied until items shipped." Hmm...

I believe they take an authorization for your new phone but the actual charge wont take place until its shipped.

at&t iphone 3g

AT&T has sent me a very horrifying message saying that my iPhone 3G that I ordered to be picked up at the store is on backorder and will not be in stock for 5-7 days. Attached is the email AT&T sent me.

So far my direct shipment order does not say back order but my freight number is 8868. I wonder if that makes a difference. I guess i'll find out on monday whether or not i get a call or not.

Might want to check again...

My order changed to backordered again a couple of hours ago.

Might want to double-check yours.

The FRT in my order status was backordered this morning, but the phone wasn't until I just checked a few minutes ago.

This sucks.

Noticed the same thing on mine. The phone backorder was at 0 but flipped back to a 1 some time this afternoon.
Only email I've received was the initial order email though.

the run around

I ordered my black 16gb in san diego at about 9:30am....While my status currently shows back ordered on phone and frt.

1st ATT rep told me 1-3 days for the order ( this was when i was still in line)
2nd ATT rep told me 5-7 days ( this was after i already odered it ) When i was actually in the store with the rep he did not mention anything about priority shipping (but my receipt says priority freight $0.00) i dont know if they waived my fee or what?

3rd ATT rep from the ATT store i purchased at, i called later friday afternoon said 7-10 days and it was not possible to cancel my order once it has been shipped

4th ATT rep (866 number) said that my phone would be in the store on monday 14th or tuesday 15th and she called the ATT store personally and that was somewhat confirmed.

5th ATT rep that i spoke to today said that there is a warehouse somewhere in san diego and that it is possible that my phone may be there by thursday...

Now while ATT seems to make up whatever they want on the spot, i called the order status hotline and that also said my order was on back order and then said that items on back order will not be shipped til they are in stock (obviously)

This Direct Fulfillment is a huge mess and it is utterly ridiculous that I waited in line since the wee hours of the morning and chose to order my iphone and have already paid*, and now any regular person walking past an ATT store with phones in stock can stroll in and pick one up no prob....

*I say i have already paid even though the recepit and all the order status sites and hotline say you dont get charged until its shipped.......That is BS because they have you swipe your card and they do an inquiry on your account and that money is physicaly not there, its on hold and ATT cannot release that hold. so if i wanted to go to an apple store and buy it i cant.

waiting 3-4 weeks is unheard of and i hope everyone here including myself receives a phone within this coming week hopefully by tuesday like a lot of us were promised.... THANKS ATT!
