At&t has no idea what they are doing. I went to the store to wait in line, and an hour later a rep comes out telling everyone that the 16 Gig Iphone never even came to the store, they only had 8 gigs. Some people left immediately, and instead I stayed since I was told I could order mine through the direct fulfilment. I was told it would take 3-5 days. Got to the register, was told they could do priority and would waive my fee, so it should be overnighted. That never happened. Finally recieved an e-mail saying that it was back ordered, and would take about 5-7 days. On top of that. I was told I wouldn't be charged until the item had shipped...wel guess what? I was already charged, and it wasn't shipped. I'm about to cancel my order and just forget about the iphone altogether.
 
I wonder what in progress means.

ATT pulled the same junk here. I called 1-800-331-0500 and spoke with 5 reps.. 5 diff answers... all crap.. headin to the Apple store and buy one there. Then will try to cancel my ATT order and go from there.
Oh and no charge until it is shipped...my ass. They charged me once and put another hold on my account.. So I am out $600 something, but still no phone..... go figure.

I'm still ticked off I can't go to the Apple store and order it because of my discount.


This is the part that irritates me as well. I do NOT want my FAN discount removed just so I can buy at Apple. What people probably don't know is that if you add the FAN back later, it will take another 2 billing cycles for it to take into effect. No thanks. I get 25% off my bill.

Sucks because I can go to Apple and get one easily this week...but I'm still stuck going to ATT who never picks up their store phone. Only way to know stock there is to drive on over.
 
i ordered mine on friday

I ordered mine on friday when it came out and the told me 5-7 days on Jully 11th so r u saying 5-7 more days because they told me that as soon as i bought it

I did the DF yesterday at 10h30 EST. I was able to check the order statues at about 3pm, and got the email at 8pm yesterday.
At first just the frt was backorder, then sometime in the evening both the phone and the frt had 1 for backorder.. and they still are..:(:mad:
 
Yeah they are jerking everyone around they talked into doing this. So I called the other day and this woman acted like I was annoying her or something. I was polite and just asked what the information meant. She had no clue.

Now the AT&T store I purchased said my wait is 7 days to 2 weeks.

Oh well.

Bunch of BS.. I was told that my phone will be here this week due to the fact that a major warehouse is near DFW. I guess we got to chill and wait it out.. Still crap as I want it NOW. My ATT stores open at 10am today. Will call around to see if I can swipe one. Not so sure about the Apple store as I dont want to jack with my FAN# either.

the saddest part of this is the lack of honesty in the situation.

i told the woman on the phone that at&t's intent was disingenuous and they were not showing respect to the people who are interested in this product.

she told me "i am sorry sir, i don't know what the word disingenuous means."

i told her i was sorry i annoyed her and used up her precious time and hung up.
 
Thornguy.. at least yours is flipping... no change here. Both on backorder...
Local ATT stores already out too, seems more like they are already burned out on the Iwhatever already too.

I had a AT&T rep on the phone a couple of weeks ago and she kept reading number wrong. She'd reverse them, drop one out of a 2-3 place number, or mispronounce them.
It was sad. At first I figured she was new and nervous but the longer it went on the more I wondered.
 
To me, the 5-7 days line just sounds like the standard time frame AT&T would normally tell a customer if they ordered any phone to ship to their house. Its likely they were not given new information regarding the iPhone 3G.
It maybe lots sooner, or it could be much later if Apple has flat run out of stock. I'd love to here once anyone has theirs shipping.
 
When I walked into the ATT store Friday evening I fully expected it would be a week or so before I actually got my phone. The sales rep told me Tuesday. I thought bonus. Then I got the backorder email.

I don't need my iPhone RIGHT NOW. I've survived the first 30 years of my life with nothing better than the 'free with service contract' cell phone so what's another week in the grand scheme? Still I don't like being jerked around. Give me a realistic time frame in which the item I paid for will be delivered. Don't insult my intelligence with made-up time tables. I don't think that's too much to ask for.

I'm hoping the five-to-seven days in an outlier schedule so ATT can say "we shipped XX% of backordered iPhones early." I don't plan on being really upset about this unless I'm still iPhoneless on Friday and they can't provide a firmer ship date.

My bigger issue was the credit card only purchase policy. I hate using my credit card unless absolutely necessary. There no acceptable reason that ATT can't accept a cash payment for a $200 item at an ATT retail store. What difference should it make to to ATT if I want to pay with greenbacks instead my AmEx charge card?

When her job is working with numbers(phone number, account number, rate plan minutes, minutes used, etc) it's kind of a big deal. She mixed-up almost every value.
When she's reached an age to be in the work force but has not had help with or been diagnosed for her Dyslexia it's and even bigger deal.

I didn't complain to her, a survey, or a manager about it. Only mentioned it here. So I did get over it. Maybe if I hadn't she'd get help.

Phones ordered via direct ship in stores Friday and Saturday will be shipped today (Monday), according to an AT&T rep. An email sent to customer service operators from the corporate office says the phones will begin arriving tomorrow (Tuesday), depending on the method of shipment. Phones ordered after Saturday will be shipped in 5-10 days.

This information comes from a rep at the business line given earlier in this thread. She read directly from the email she received. The rep pulled up my order (which currently shows "backorder" on the Web link to my email notification) and confirmed shipment scheduled for today. She said my account had no information on shipping method.
 
I waited on line Saturday at 9:30 AM only to find out as the line got shorter, that they only had 8GB models in stock. The AT&T rep came out and asked everyone on the line which phone they wanted and I heard him tell some of the people in front of me that they could order the 16GB (which is the one I wanted).

He said it would take 2 days if you got priority shipping, which would cost an extra $15. Well when I got inside, the guy who processed my order told me it would take 2-5 days after I paid for the priority shipping.

I called AT&T customer service today and the woman told me I would receive an e-mail once it gets to the store. I asked her that since she couldn't find any tracking info, if it meant that my order hadn't been shipped yet. When I asked her how long it would take for the item to ship, she told me it could take up to 7-10 days.

I hope that's true. People who ordered Friday are starting to see shipping emails.

I ordered mine on Saturday and haven't received anything. The again it wasn't until Sunday that I got my conformation email (Though online status shows Saturday as the order date)...
