AT&T - iPhone 3G on Backorder for 5-7 Days.

Ok everybody, went to the Apple store today and waited in line for about an hour and a half and walked out with 2 brand new 8GB iphones :D

Now all I have to do now is wait for my DF to come in so I can cancel it.

They should cancel DFs for you - I was able to cancel my original DF easily and reorder.
 
I am number 41 at my store, only 5 shipped today so far. Usually though I see a lot more shipping during the evening hours. Anyway, my status has been on '0' since last night and has not flipped from 0 to 1 since then. I am presuming that ATT got a huge shipment. I am hoping that I get mine shipped by saturday. I can be optimistic right?

I just need it before lollapalooza next week. At the rate my store is going (10 a day on avg) it should ship by tuesday hopefully.
 
How do you figure out where you are in the que?

I have viewed my store and there are a lot of people ahead of me (ordered the black 16G on 7/19/08 in LA) but I also heard those orders may not be for iPhones? Anyhow, its interesting to see everyones logic here...and just how correct most of you all are!

The guy did tell me 7-20 day wait which I dont mind cause my contract is up on August 8th. If it comes in sooner no biggie...I will just get a new number.
 
This may seem like a dumb question but what does this mean?

"FRT" ??? And does this mean that Iam off backorder? I ordered on the 16th!

this is going to sound really dumb but im not sure what back order is, is it good to see a 1 or 0 under the backorder column??
 
Apparently there is a memo going around inside of Apple. The reason for the shortage is because Iran apparently prearranged an order with Apple for ten million Iphone 16gigs (in the black color). Military and Defense experts theorize that Iran is linking all of these units together to control their missile network.

my order status has been like that for 2 days already. So hopefully it means it's on it's way or something! My CC was charged that same day well no it's actually pending. I am so impatient!!

I believe you have 7 days to pick up or refuse your phone. If it comes in early, you should be able to wait until your contract it up to pick up your iPhone. Check with the AT&T store you ordered from to verify though.

I think that this means Freight but who really knows? I have the exact same status and it's pissing me off. I ordered a 16gb black on the 14th and still haven't heard a WORD. I never even got an e-mail so I had to figure it all out for myself.

Thanks for the info. I am not in a hurry buf if it does come in early I will just get a new #. That way my old design clients wont call me anymore:D
 
I ordered a black 16GB from the Cary, NC store on 7/16 and the queue hadn't changed at all this entire week until this afternoon. I checked it on Monday and it was still the same up until around 2 this afternoon. Looks like they shipped 3 of the 7/15 orders late this afternoon.

lol, drove to charlotte today and picked 2 8GB up from the Apple store in the mall. Only an hour wait in line too :D

They had all versions in stock yesterday till about 4 when they ran out of 16GB black ones then the 16GB white ones shortly after but had plenty of 8GB ones to last until today at around noon. I ordered 2 on 7/18 and am going to cancel that DF from AT&T because I got my iphones from the Apple store today.
 
How is everyone viewing the queue at their store? :confused:

EDIT: Nevermind. I figured it out.

Apparently I'm second in queue. I should get mine tomorrow or Monday hopefully.

If you had a DF, then you don't have 7 days to pick it up, it can probably just sit there at the store until you get it because that's what me and my family are going to do when we go in tomorrow to DF our 4 iphones for the family plan.

I just remembered last night that I have a friend who works in the Apple store in Raleigh. I'm gonna try to get him to hold one for me and then cancel mine at AT&T. I mean shipping 3-4 to a store in one week? That seems a bit ridiculous.
