AT&T - iPhone 3G on Backorder for 5-7 Days.

woo hoo

just checked my order status now and it now shows frt=1 and phone=0 does that mean my phone is at df and they are just waiting on the carrier to pick it up?

If you had a DF, then you don't have 7 days to pick it up, it can probably just sit there at the store until you get it because that's what me and my family are going to do when we go in tomorrow to DF our 4 iphones for the family plan.

Wrong. It says on your receipt of your DF order, you have 7 days after notification of arrival to pick up your phone.
I assume that after that, it is the same as refusing/cancelling your order and they refund you your money.

So let me get this straight, I pay for all 4 iphones, and then wait 7 days after they get it in the at&t store after the 10-21 days wait (my dad works in a different state and he's not here every weekend), and if on the 8th day, my dad is not able to get to an at&t store, they just refund my money? after we had paid close to $1100? that's the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard. especially since so much money was paid out to get 4 iphones. You're probably right, but I so hope you're wrong.

They may not, it probably depends on store. Some stores may wait extra days, some might not. Company policy though, printed on the receipt, is 7 days.

Yeah tomorrow I'll make sure to know exactly what policy they have, and hopefully, $1100 worth of their profit + a 2 year contract for a family plan convinces them to wait however long it takes for all my family to be together to get iphone's after it arrives in store.

read the rest of the thread. it means nothing. it does that on and off until it ships..

Just remember, it's not $1100 profit. It's $1100 minus the cost of the phones to the store from AT&T and/or Apple, minus employee pay, etc. The store may only see an actual $100 of that $1100. Also remember, after your 7 days are up, there is going to be somebody right behind you ready to take the phone. The store won't lose any money at all. The only people losing out will be you and your family. Do yourself a favor and pick them up before the 7 days are up.

I'm looking at the orders from my store's zipcode and the very first order has still not shipped. My phones were almost the last 2 from opening day, and we are up to 17 & 18 in the queue. So I feel really bad for the guy who is #1, and I am really hoping that my phones are in the next big shipment out. We were #41 earlier today, and the backorder status was 0 for a long time today. So I think a LOT of phones moved today.

Thanks for the script totally works. I ordered on July 15 and am number 7 on the list for the 8gig model. Today AT&T charged my card but my backorder is still on 1..?? maby a delay??

1. If you have a mac this is how you do it:
Download TextWrangler (google it)
go to that link and copy that code.
follow the directions on the website on how to change the code to your zip, etc
paste code into Textwrangler and on the menu bar you'll see a #!
click it and select "run in terminal"
names and numbers should start showing up

I thought your account doesn't get charged until the item is shipped??? Mine is on hold since today so im guessin its shipping soon??!!:apple:

It doesn't. A pending withdrawal of funds or "hold" is placed on your account to make sure you have enough funds in your account for when they actually do charge it. Supposedly they remove the hold and then charge your account when it ships. I'm waiting on the actual charge now.

hey man, mine went back to backorder last night, I went to bed depressed. I woke up this morning, I shouldn't have, but checked again at about 6:30 - damn, no change. Also, the authorization on my CC dropped three days ago.

Got to the office, and for some stupid (OCD) reason, checked again and both the 16 gig black phones had shipped. And as of this writing, they still have not charged my card, nor submitted another authorization.

So, the AT&T status checker really isn't that accurate.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya.
