Yay, I am now shipped. Unfortunately for you, you now get to read my long bloated post....I only do this to hopefully help, let's call it data collection.
Ordered at 6:13am EST on 6/15. I printed the receipt with the confirmation number. After reading many posts about receiving confirmation emails and not receiving one myself I called AT&T about 7:00pm EST that evening.
They told me that they could not find my order but since I had an order number that they would have someone from fulfillment call me the following day at 10:00am EST.
The next day arrived and no phone call but a text message at 10:00am EST stating that my case had been reviewed and the order processed in the order it was received. I then received an e-mail at 10:40am EST "Your Recent Online AT&T Order" stating pretty much what the text message said.
I quickly went online to check my order status and found it to be dated 6/16 with a status of "In Progress", note, I ordered on 6/15.
Today I received the "Your iPhone CSS" e-mail at 9:24am and then tonight at 10:24pm I received the "Let's talk about your new iPhone". Ironically it states "We hope you're enjoying your new iPhone 3GS", I guess they did not care to update their old form letter.
Anyways, I now have a UPS tracking number with a ship date of 6/21 which does not exist in UPS's system yet, as should be expected.
If I had to offer an opinion (which I am). I think AT&T's computers blew up around 6:00am to 8:00am EST and any order that was made during that time had to be handled manually. Those orders were probably reserved a phone but the data was delayed because it had to be processed manually.
At the very least, all of my data is present for anyone to dissect but hopefully it gives a rhythm and expectation for anyone who is waiting in limbo.

NOW, THIS JUST IN! "Back Ordered" just went from 1 to 0... I'm expecting to get a "shipped" email by tomorrow... we'll see... Fingers crossed!

did anybody else get apple care with their order...i did and maybe thats what is slowing it down...ugh!
AppleCare is always shipped separately. I'm an Apple Certified Tech. That's not slowing it down.
