I think the 32 is what they're ordering the least of, even more rare are the white ones.. sadly that's what I ordered. They ordered the most 64s I think, which is stupid. Absolutely idiotic. In this economy, they're lucky those 64s are selling as well as they are..smh

Woke up and no change. Still backordered. Ordered in store2 32G white phones. The store manager we deal with was "off" this weekend. Going to the store over lunch hour today.

Ordered at 64gb white on Oct 8th from apple.com. It's been in PREPARING FOR SHIPMENT since yesterday (Sunday). Maybe it'll ship today.
 
Ordered 32gb black at 10:30 EST Friday Oct. 7 - still backordered - going to the same AT&T Store I did the pre-order from to see if they have any still in stock. If so, I'm going to see if they'll cancel my preorder.
 
I ordered a black 64gb around 12pm EST on friday Oct 7 at an at&t store and mine still shows as backordered.
 
If your order says backordered trying calling FedEx they can do a search of your address. I called FedEx and got the representive to do a search of my address. And it looks like it was shipped Friday and it should arrive this Tuesday. The package is 3 pounds so I'm positive it the two iPhones I preordered.

I had no luck doing this, FedEx searched the address but didn't find anything. I tried it with UPS and they won't do anything without a tracking number. I guess it's time to stalk the AT&T store and try to find when they get their shipment today and try to drop in at that time. :cool:

We're in the same boat Pat. Same exact model as well. I was in this thread a lot earlier. I tried to get the store to cancel my pre-order around noon at the Westfield NJ store on Friday but they wouldn't. Not sure if they've since changed their stance, as a lot of stores are now canceling back orders and giving iphones from their stock now that they realize the ridiculous and unfair manner they treated their best customers. And they never got the rush on their stock (much of which they should have allocated to the in-store pre-orders!) anyway.
If I were you and you were really eager to get it, go to the store you ordered. They may well have 64's left. Then show and tell this thread. It says it all!! But calling corporate or emailing will get you nowhere, don't bother.
I may do the same, but I'm tied to the office for now.

That is what really pissed me off. They are everywhere. But the manager at the Westfield NJ store says "No soup for you" when one of his best customers asks for the iphone behind the counter that he pre-ordered the week before. Absolutely mind boggling stupidity. Really, it's still hard for me to comprehend someone can be that stupid and somehow became the manager of an AT&T store. He shouldn't be allowed to run a lemonade stand with that level of acumen regarding customer service.
 
Yeah Att has drop the ball on this one. I tried ordering my iPhone 4 online on the 7th and they cancelled my order twice. They said i had to go to the att store to order it, after being with them since 2004. EXECELLENT payment record with them, and after telling me i was a top tier customer, I still had to go to the att store on the 8th to pre order, the sale rep assured me i will get it in time. Guess what? still back ordered. so i went to the att store on the 14th about 9am, an hour after they opened 3 people ahead of me and used another upgrade line to get it, because att could not cancel my order. so now when i get my phone in a month i will return it att, and get my money back.:mad:
Its not about the phone anymore, it is about att telling what i wanted to hear to keep me quite.:(
 
We really need to consider starting a perdition to get some sort of compensation on the trouble and frustration ATT has caused on us. This is just wrong. Its not about how desperate we want the new toy :D, its about getting treated wrong by the company. Their e-commerce department should have not selling the product they did not even have in stock. Bad business practice :(

I totally agree with you footfan. What the hel! They have the phone in stock at the store, Why can't they just give you one there? and cancel the order.Just Stupid!
 
I am waiting on a 32GB white.

I spoke to a manager at my local store and he doesn't have any white left. He seems willing to cancel my 'parked' order and let me have one from store stock, but my official upgrade is 11/25 and supposedly 11/1 is the soonest upgrade a store can do.

My 'other' local store has 32GB white in stock. The manager didn't know how to cancel the order, but even when cancelled, he can't do anything before 11/1.

Good thing my 4 still works...

Companies pre-sell all of the time so this is nothing new. I think AT&T underestimated the demand of pre-orders and now they're slow to get these orders squared away. Just an educated guess that AT&T should have all pre-orders sorted out in the next 2 to 3 weeks tops because the stock is there, but now it's a matter of distribution. Just my 2 cents though.

They CAN cancel your pre-order and sell you ANY iphone in the store. This has been confirmed by a friend of mine who left and then called apple. Any store can cancel your pre-order and sell you another one. Period. I did not preorder, I bought one on Saturday from the apple store in tice's corner in NJ. They have plenty. It isn't fair that you preorder guys are being lied to and someone like me just walks in and buys one.

This. It's about the bottom line for them and that bottom line is signing a new customer and collecting the commission vs upgrading a customer.

I tried to make a complaint on Friday. I finally was put on hold for a manager for 20 minutes. The CSR kept coming back on and apologizing, but I really think she was just toying with me. I had been pretty angry in our discussion after a lot of getting the run around with various AT&T reps. I finally said they should call me when they had the chance. Call never came. I also had a back and forth discussion with a rep through email. Very polite, very professional, and completely unhelpful. I finally told her unless she was contacting me to actually resolve the situation, to stop responding. Haven't heard from her since either.
Ridiculous. AT&T is giving themselves a huge black eye.

You're missing the point. The issue is with the pre-order process. They are supposed to be first come first served. There are those who ordered on the 8th (Saturday) and have their phones already and then there are those who ordered as soon as pre-orders were allowed and do NOT have their phones.

Since mine was on Saturday, the only issue I have is being UNABLE to track my order in any way other than to call AT&T and hope they aren't lying to me when they say my order is in place.

Yeah, same thing here. They were suppose to call me back on Monday the 10th, to make sure my pre order at the att store went perfect, because they say i am one of there best customers. Yeah right! never got a call.
