I just called customer service today to ask when I can expect my pre-order. I got a woman on the phone who said, "hmm, lets see. You ordered in store on the 7th...ok, I see the order is still in processing. You can expect it 21-28 days from the 14th."

There is no way they would ship a phone more than 30 days from the time you ordered it.
So I guess at&t cs reps are just trolling people now?

Dont even bother calling them. You will only get apology + one useless answer.
Couple of pages back, one member mentioned some like backordered until November from a ATT insider. I hope this is false really. :(

My order says "processing." Before that, it said "backordered."

does that mean they don't have them to ship them yet, i ordered mine on the 15th. wonder how long i will have to wait, any ideas, 3 weeks to a month is what at&t says. mccoy1
 
AT&T CSR says " Oh, you want your iphone now, sir? Hahahaha"

I'm sure they will get some in sometime this week. The question remains how many will they get in and how will they ship them out. It seems like a crap shoot now.

Well, you see, they sold your phone to the guy that walked in a couple of hours ago. Yeah, because they got you locked in to your 2 year contract already. You ( and I) were the people so eager to get our hands on an iphone that we walked in with credit card in hand and signed what ever they put in front of us and handed over our cards. So they can now tell you to wait and sell to Joe Smoe, the kinda guy that walks by and says " Hey, no lines, I think I might see if that new iphone is available". This way they sell as many iphones as they can. It's a game with lots of players now, so customer satisfaction takes a back seat to real time sales #'s. If you thought they actually wanted to keep you happy as a customer, think again.

I agree completely. Now it's either fight to cancel the preorder and take a chance on getting on one at the store or simply wait it out. It seems most of us now are going with the latter.
 
My phone should be delivered this Wednesday.. however the UPS tracking number isn't showing up as valid yet.

Don't be surprised if it shows up by FedEX and your UPS number never shows up as valid and you never get a FedEx # sent to you by ATT- that's what happened to me and on top of it, the driver left it and ran without a signature! My UPS tracking still shows it as billing information received.:rolleyes:

STILL on back order. preordered on the 7th, in store at 1 pm.

I repeat, still on back order. Really at&t??
 
I took a look over in the VZW preorder thread and its been posted that VZ has an expected delivery date of 10/28 for customers that even ordered on 10/14, but AT&T is telling us 21-28 days. Crazy :eek:

So we talked with our store manager where we preordered two 32G white iphone 4s at 11:22am est. on Oct 7.
They are out of inventory and didn't get any today.

She was going to "check" into our preorder situation. She said she is confident we will have the phones by Nov 15.
What???? 5 weeks for a preorder?
But we can check daily to see if they get any in and then we can do a cancel preorder and buy the phone.

Define pre-order again?

I was never able to access my order status on-line. I ordered by phone on Oct. 7th at 8:30 in the morning. I had to constantly call ATT CS to find out the status. They never said it was backordered and despite the fact that they concurred that it had a UPS tracking number, it arrived on the 15th by FedEx.

Just called my ATT store and that's the answer I got, "We're just as confused as you are". You've GOT to be joking giving an answer like that. Was all ready to lay into him but I thought why bother, he's clueless.

Maybe they'd like to answer the question will they waive my early termination fees while I switch everyone back to Verizon- 5 phones. I came to ATT for WHAT KIND OF SERVICE??

Wow! That is ridiculous. I can't believe how many people who ordered on the 7th are getting completely screwed. I hope the manager is wrong.

It's UPS since they already tried to deliver it to the wrong address in a different state because of something at AT&T. I had to pay to get it redelivered.
 
I went to my local at&t store today to ask if they would reserve a phone in any new stock they received, because I pre-ordered the 4S. One of the saleswomen told me that they aren't told when they will be receiving any new 4S models or what the quantities are.

What she did say is that during the iPhone 4 launch they took pre-orders, got in a shipment of phones for launch day, and didn't get any more for almost a month while the direct fulfill orders were sent out.

The woman assured me that my direct fulfillment order (pre-order) would be just as fast as any new stock they received in store. So unless you want to cancel your pre-order and join a queue in apple.com or an apple store's line, I would just sit tight and forget about the 4S in the meantime.
 
My Best Buy STILL hasn't gotten even ONE more AT&T phone in. To date: ZERO Verizon, 2 AT&T (blk 16GB), and 3 Sprint (blk 16GB). They've filled five pre-orders out of almost 50. Total absurdity.

Every store needs shipments of 50 to 100 of these MINIMUM.

has anyone who pre-ordered IN STORE on 10/7 received theirs?

I called the AT&T store that I ordered from earlier, and they said "Our pre order lines opened online at midnight that night, and by the time the store opened to take pre orders, we were already SOLD OUT of pre orders. So many pre orders came into our system. Over 1 million phones were ordered in the first 24 hours alone." Tell me something I don't know, you idiot. I don't want to hear BS or excuses, I want to know why my phone isn't here yet.

I want to know the damn truth and if there was a point to even be able to pre order besides being the first to walk in and sign your contract faster.. I don't think there was...
 
Another rant (just skip over if you don't care):

Apple needs to provide DETAILED SHIPPING INFORMATION TO VENDORS. That's total crap. I want to know how many (and of what type of phone) are coming in, and when they arrive. Crappy part about attitude? It's this: I feel like it's MY RIGHT TO KNOW THAT INFORMATION just for having interest in buying at all. I expect a LOT.
 
ordered mine on 7th at the store. Still back-order...... WTF~~~~ Selling iPhone4s like hot cakes and now screw us... FFFFFFFFFFFFF at&t, FFFFFFFFFFFFF the store, unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!
