AT&T order people with 6\16 date

Within the last 10 minutes mine has changed to shipped.
I ordered at 5.45am EDT on the 15th, got the email within 10 minutes, then got another email that confirmed my order but for the 16th. There is still hope --- Hopefully mine will get here before the 24th.

I was still trying to order mine through apple, he isn't crazy as me so premier was fine for him.
No shipment for my order yet unfortunately. I have a feeling your theory holds some truth, though. I just hope my order changes overnight.
I posted this in the AT&T Order Status thread but wanted to post it here as well as I ordered on the 15th and my order status was dated the 16th.

Yay, I am now shipped. Unfortunately for you, you now get to read my long bloated post....I only do this to hopefully help, let's call it data collection. 😉
Ordered at 6:13am EST on 6/15. I printed the receipt with the confirmation number. After reading many posts about receiving confirmation emails and not receiving one myself I called AT&T about 7:00pm EST that evening.
They told me that they could not find my order but since I had an order number that they would have someone from fulfillment call me the following day at 10:00am EST.
The next day arrived and no phone call but a text message at 10:00am EST stating that my case had been reviewed and the order processed in the order it was received. I then received an e-mail at 10:40am EST "Your Recent Online AT&T Order" stating pretty much what the text message said.
I quickly went online to check my order status and found it to be dated 6/16 with a status of "In Progress", note, I ordered on 6/15.
Today I received the "Your iPhone CSS" e-mail at 9:24am and then tonight at 10:24pm I received the "Let's talk about your new iPhone". Ironically it states "We hope you're enjoying your new iPhone 3GS", I guess they did not care to update their old form letter.
Anyways, I now have a UPS tracking number with a ship date of 6/21 which does not exist in UPS's system yet, as should be expected.
If I had to offer an opinion (which I am). I think AT&T's computers blew up around 6:00am to 8:00am EST and any order that was made during that time had to be handled manually. Those orders were probably reserved a phone but the data was delayed because it had to be processed manually.
At the very least, all of my data is present for anyone to dissect but hopefully it gives a rhythm and expectation for anyone who is waiting in limbo.

Mine just now changed to NOT BACKORDERED!!
I placed order thru Premier at 8:30 am PST, 6/15. Non premier status shows order was at 6/16. Backorder column just went to '0'. Premier status still shows 'In Progress' and no tracking info. yet.

Mine changed from back ordered to ordered later in the afternoon. Here is to hoping that I will get a tracking number today!!
I am in the 6/16 group and I just checked it now...it shipped yesterday, via UPS...and I don't work for UPS. It doesn't give an ETA.
I thought for sure when I got up this morning and checked, there would be shipping information. There wasn't. I've begun mentally preparing myself to not get a phone on the 24th 🙁

My order was placed on 6/15 @ 5:31am, with the order status page showing 6/16. The status finally updated this morning. The actual status column still says 'In Progress'., but now says UPS under Carrier and gives me a tracking number and the UPS site has info on the tracking number.
UPS site says this:
MEMPHIS, TN, US 06/22/2010 6:02 A.M. AGENT PICKUP; IN TRANSIT TO UPS FACILITY

I have the same thing. Looks promising of seeing it tomorrow. Guess I better get to work and get my project complete so I can be a slacker tomorrow and play.

I'm in the same boat... ordered it at an AT&T store 3pm EST on the 15th shows ordered 6/16 and still in progress.... I'm really bummed, my co-worker ordered hers at the same store at 6pm and hers shows shipped with a scheduled delivery time of 3pm 6/23.

Again, its very fluid. Even though I'd feel the same rage as you, be angry but mindful that it is still HIGHLY likely that your phone is going to ship soon. Unless you have the backorder flag ...

I'm reading some stories whereby Apple sent out an email to its customers telling them they may receive their phone the 23rd. I went through normal Att website but when I track it it shows delivery for tomorrow. I know they usually hold but if that Apple email is legit, I may be getting my iPhone tomorrow. Wow!!! Plus, this first come first serve basis is wacky as I ordered 4:18pm EST. It really is messed up.
