Just got home from work. My wife ended up calling and she says the rep basically said it was "luck of the draw" who got early shipments. We got our upgrade fee waived and was informed he didn't think the phone would ship "until Oct 3". So I'm confused, should I just cancel and go to an apple store sometime next week and try to get the plus or just wait it out. Beyond frustrating, I'm still hoping maybe they get shipped next week.

I agree with everything you pointed out and more, but about letting customers 'prematurely' ordering before 12 PDT is sort of silly in my opinion. Sure AT&T should've locked their site down until official time, but thousands of people were hitting the F5 and if it let you in 10 min before, of course they will try to order one to beat the crowd.

For sure. However, the point was just to further illustrate just how incredibly effed their legacy ordering systems actually are. AT&T's backend systems are a total hot mess. It was also a subtle reminder to them that technically they are in material breach of their contract with Apple which very clearly indicated the earliest that preorders are to be accepted.

see the guys at the att store also told me that my OCT 2 ship date was going to quicker than what they would get them at ... and i prob will see them shipping next week... This was from one of those independent ATT stores TOO THAT ALWAYS WANT YOUR MONEY!!

i've dealt with one of these " appeals manager" after verizon gave me 4 **** blackberry storms and i filed a complaint with the BBB.... They're tough at first but as soon as you play hard ball with them they cave in... The moral of the story was verizon let me go into the store in pick out a brand new blackberry model and paid for it... also didn't change my upgrade date
 
Load Balancing isn't the issue. Even Apple's servers weren't ready at 3. it happens.

The problem is that every order made should have a time stamp in the database. When they went to process the orders, they should have started from the earliest time stamp and worked their way down, but they didn't. They processed orders in god knows what fashion. It boggles the mind.

If Premier is so screwed up, how is it that iPhone 6 orders from Premier are coming in?

i did 2 days ago she said she was working on my case and sent it to be escalated but nothing has come out of it in 2 days... so pretty much useless...

what the should have done is looked around us and saw what store had 6+'s in stock and let us walk in and grab those as our "pre-order". they have the power to do this but choose not to...
 
I just cancelled my order (premier). This was my first preorder and will likely be my last. It's just not worth it though get up at 3 am to order a phone that will take weeks to get here. I've got both an Apple Store and an AT&T store within walking distance of my office. I figure I'll end up with a phone before my preorder would have shipped.

I'm also a premiere customer. While canceling the order today she had to make sure that it wasn't already in transit, which of course, it WASN'T. So I actually preordered the 64gb sg version instead (better resale value down the road). Good luck everyone! Patience is a virtue!

3-4 weeks wait, haha I bet you will still get your phone before some of us.

MacRumors should post a story about the issues. Maybe bringing awareness will get the story out to the public? #upverizoning

I think apple should have stepped in, routed all iPhone 6 plus shipments to handle pre-order customers. If they have additional phones they can sell them at the store. If that's not ideal, don't offer pre orders.
