online it says preparing to ship, and right after i checked online i called the 877 number just for kicks i guess lol, and to my shock it said processing! just yesterday it said currently on backorder. i ordered the iPhone 6 plus gold 16gb at 12:04 am on 9/12

I have only seen change on the 877# not online. The 877# changed this evening.
Been lurking here for a couple of weeks. Placed preorder in store on 9/12 @ 4:30pm est, due to not being able to access to order online before going to work (even though I stayed up most of the night for it 877 backorder, preparing for shipment on website since day one with 11/9-11/27 ship dates. Iphone 6+ 128gb silver, premier. I was ok about the wait until my 4s started bugging out on me. I refused to put it through the torture of ios8, but yet the battery life started crashing fast, apps black out, screen goes out, calls drop- all since launch day. Pretty sure its apple's way of forcing upgrades. Anyway, I notice people ordering far later than the 12th are getting sooner ship date estimates, or just down right getting the phone shipped!
Anyway, just thought I would throw this out there, and join the wait "officially" with you guys

I ordered the same phone on the 13 and have the same dates if it's any consolation
Cancelled my order with AT&T success with Apple Store
Ordered 9/12 1:20am PST for iPhone 6+ 128gb gold
Received email with order number 1:25am
At 3:51am received status for 10/13 - 10/22 delivery
9/18 6:00am status changed to 10/2 - 10/13 delivery
Always been in back order limbo status online said preparing for shipment.
October 1st barely after midnight looking in the Apple Store app I noticed they have my exact phone in stock. I placed an order with another line in my family plan for whatever reason you can't do personal pick up on next installment plan so I opt for the 2 year contract. I pick up the phone late in the morning with no one in line and walk out with my new phone a few mins later.
The rep at the Apple Store said I can return the phone in 14 days to change the upgrade to the original line to be upgraded using next. Today I cancelled my preorder with att over the phone with no problems and immediately reverted upgrade eligibility!
What I should have done was placed my preorder with Apple at 3am pst when the site went back up and do the next upgrade and have it shipped to my door weeks ago! Waited on AT&T for nothing.... Lesson learned.

Edited to add. I just got a tracking number! It doesn't tell me any thing yet, but I have a freaking tracking number!!!!

Happy for everyone getting notices today, doesn't put me at ease that I will get my phone anytime soon though.
Hi all, I have a question. My contract technically isn't up with AT&T until May of 2015...so the only way I was able to upgrade was through NEXT. Plenty of times I've seen iPhone 6 Plus show up as available for pickup at my local apple stores but as you all know, I'm unable to place an order with next. I'm now considering getting a brand new 2 year contract and I was wondering if maybe I can coerce AT&T into waiving the rest of my contract since they can't promise a phone until November? Or just let Sprint pay my ETF of $175? Thanks.

Same here, 4s got all kindas a problem but its been going on since the last major update! 40% batt goes to 19% in a minute!
I'm planning to add a new line and pay subsidized price to "hold" the phone until I get to the store then have them cancel that order and sign up through next while I have the phone in hand. My thought is the charges will fall off the card since I would have cancelled the original order.
