AT&T Pre-order status iPhone 6 Plus (only)

I was very surprised to hear that USPS was involved in some of these being shipped to customers. They are notoriously slow and unreliable with personal mail so I'm surprised they would have played any role in the initial launch. This reeks of a cost-cutting measure by AT&T.

I have often heard people complaining about the USPS being unreliable with mail but I have to tell you that is not my experience. We have several newspapers that use USPS deliver on weekdays (carriers on Sundays and holidays). We get same day delivery at 2nd class rates. My iPhone 6 Plus was mailed and it had excellent tracking. It was delivered on time just as it was supposed to be.

That's a hard call. I have read of people securing phones with reserve and pick-up as well as going to local Apple stores and lining up for walk in purchases. I was doing AT&T Next so reserving for in store pick up was not an option. I had to place an online order. At least with shipping, you know you will eventually get your phone. It may take some time, but you won't drive yourself crazy searching stores.

I've gotten to the checkout page 4 times already.. Every time I hit complete order, I get an error code. I'm giving up on Friday and just putting the order online lol

The other thing I don't know is, do Apple store use ALL of their stock for "reserve and pick up", or do they save inventory for walk-ins?

I've heard some of these Apple stores get inventory at night around 8, Im going to take a risk and just go to the store tonight. I've also heard that sometimes the inventory doesn't update on Apple.com, so hopefully I get some sort of info tonight

I kind of wish I would have ordered the 128 gb instead of the 64 gb. The extra $100 might be worth it to have my phone right now... I keep checking and no updates on my order.

I don't mind the waiting as much as the jailbreak window. If the phone comes after Apple cuts off the iOS 8.1 window I'll be extremely upset.

A current Android guy switching back to iOS... but without the tweaks and customization a jailbreak offers, I'd probably look into the Note 4 if they cut the jailbreak off before I get my 6+. I'm platform-agnostic; both have their own strengths and weaknesses. It just so happens this upgrade cycle the 6+ appealed more to me.

Anyone who is keeping score at home, I still don't have a reorder for my silver. I'm going to do a few things around the house this morning, then save the afternoon for going to war with ATT.

Edit: to that end, if anyone has that email for the executive staff laying around handy and wants to save me a trip through 500 pages to find it, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise, I'll go searching when I get done cleaning house.

I can't believe your phone still hasn't shipped.

My mailbox is in a sketchy area and not attached to my house. I'd be more than a little peeved after waiting 2 months for a phone if they shipped it USPS and I had to pull my eyebrows off waiting to see if I get it before crackhead charlie gets it. ugh.

I still got a pretty good feeling i'll see movement this week though. We'll see.

Not completely sure if the inventory for walk-ins is different. I thought I had read on here that it was different. I guess all you can do is try. If that doesn't work, place an online order.

I feel you, I was in the same exact position. I ordered through retention, but my window opened up on 10/12. I gave it a week and when nothing happened, I finally cancelled the gold order I had placed and picked up the silver 1 which was available in the local apple store.

I do think with this new phablet(for which there was massive pent up demand) + the ATT next plan which a lot of people are getting on, the next few releases will not be as bad as this one.

I don't know what Jailbreak window you are refering to, because as long as they have been making new iOS versions they have been jailbreaking them faster and faster. I wouldn't worry about the jailbreak window closing.

This is my fourth iPhone with AT&T. They have always delivered before the "date range" estimate.

Got my phone today. FedEx just left it on the front porch. I lied to get out of work (and then work from home in order to greet the Fedex driver). Nothing on the box indicates what it is. Box feels heavy. Must be the gold...

That was so nice of your son. I may contact AT&T to see what the trade in value of my iPhone 6+ (that I haven't gotten yet) for a iphone 7 if I order it now I may at least get that new phone by launch date.

If you look closely at this discussion, you will see that for the most part you are correct. A few phones have shipped earlier than the dates they were given and a few phones from the 9/12 pre-order may have shipped a few days late. But in the end you will see that on average the phones are being shipped within the shipping window ATT gave you when you ordered.

Some may argue that even though their ship dates have passed their phone still hasn't shipped, but I would contend that these orders have other issues that the poster just don't know about yet. Also, many orders that were placed within the first week or so after pre-oder seem to have less accurate dates where ATT erred on the conservative side.

If you compare my 64Gold ship dates to those who ordered after me, by those estimates my 11/9 - 11/27 should be like 11/1 - 11/16 or something.

I still think the wait won't be much longer for many of us in this 9/19+ range.

Everyone's got different priorities or uses for their phones. For me using iOS without a jailbreak would be a dealbreaker for a personal device.
