Got my tracking number earlier today but decided to call the 877 number for the hell of it. The automated system told me my order was shipped gave me my tracking number and said my phone should be delivered on 9/19 by 7 pm, however, the FedEx website says it should be delivered by 3 pm. It's not a huge deal I'm just curious if anyone else has noticed this inconsistency.

How orders are processed
I got an amazing CSR this evening from AT&T who spent about 25 minutes with me answering all of my crazy questions. Like many of you I woke up last Friday morning at 3 am to order. I did not want to order from AT&T but could not get through to apple at all. I placed three orders back to back cause I could not do them all together. They were submitted at 3:56, 3:57 and 3:58 EST. I did not receive confirmation emails until 5:30, 7:30 and 9:30 EST.
When I spoke to the CSR she explained to me that orders are filled based on when they are processed and not when they were ordered. My two iPhone 6+ phones were the ones ordered at 3:57 am and 3:58 am however, they did not process until 11:50 and 11:55 am EST. It took 8 hours to process my order. I asked her how this was fair that people that ordered at 5 or 6 am are getting through because their orders were processed faster when there was not a bottleneck of people trying to order the phones.
She also explained that the order could not be cancelled because it is preparing to ship. That is why the Cancel Button disappeared last night for a lot of us. It was not that it was shipping rather it was that the phone was preparing to ship. I asked her why an order would sit preparing for order for weeks and she stated that they could ship at anytime and that once the orders reach preparing for shipping they can not be cancelled. That shot my plans of going to Apple Friday morning to attempt to get a phone right in the foot.
While these were not the answers that I wanted it did make sense to me. I will say this. I only went the Next route to update to the new iPhone each year when it came out. Therefore, once all this gets settled, I will be contacting whoever I need to in order to make sure that I can upgrade to the new iPhone in Fall of 2015 even if my NEXT term is not up.
I am still hoping for a last minute surprise shipment that will allow the phone to be delivered by Friday, but I am going to wait it out and see what happens. At least my wife's 6 will be here on Friday. It will allow me to set it up for her. I will also never order from ATT again and may very well switch carriers, if not this year definitely in the Fall.
Here is hoping that my phones are on the flights from Alaska, but if not they will be here within a few weeks. That I can deal with. I hope this may hep clarify any confusion that is out there about how orders are being filled. I think it is such BS that it is based on processed time and not ordered time, but what can you do?

Like many here, I checked order status on myAT&T this morning & saw I had a FedEx tracking # on the order status page. Wonder why I didn't get a shipping notice (not from AT&T & not from FedEx--I am registered for FedEx Delivery Manager, and it doesn't even show on my delivery calendar).
It was picked up in Fort Worth 9/14, sat there until it departed Fort Worth earlier tonight; showing expected delivery by 4:40 PM on 9/19.

yes n no... i had mine delivered to my local fedex that i work at as my dilivery address. because the must attemp at least once to your address its bc of the phone company contracts with Fedex and ups.
Well, I got fed up with all this order status staying the same, im not gonna take my luck waiting so i decided to go ahead and cancel my preorder to get my elgilbity back so i can try my luck at some local att stores and other stores and grab one.
I had initially ordered Iphone 6 Plus 16GB Space Gray and i decided i wanted to get the 64GB Silver/White Iphone6 Plus.
For those who think i should try my shot at preordering it again and i was estimated for a November Shipping date window, which im not gonna accept it.
Im not in any hurry, whoever has em, i get it. If no one has it, screw it i can wait!

My status is still "Preparing to Ship" with an est. ship date 10/13-10/22
For my iPhone 5 I walked into the local AT&T and waited in line behind two people. Twenty minutes later I was on my way out, and a line was starting to form. This was around 11am. I couldn't believe how easy it was.
I have a FedEx tracking number. ATT premier order iphone 6 64gb space gray. I actually ordered on the 12th over the phone around 2pm because I was locked out of the online account. I didn't think it would come on Friday. My estimates have been oct 13 - 22 since my order and It will definitely be here on Friday.
I shouldnt have a problem then, but the issue could be the low demand of the Iphone Plus that im looking for.
If it is in order processed and not order sold or order confirmation email came in (which honestly makes some sense), then I don't think mine is launch day. Ordered at 4am eastern, got email at 8am eastern, got text at 10pm eastern saying proceased, and then another text at 11am eastern Saturday again saying processed. Oh well.
So, in the confirmation email i received from AT&T hours after my preorder, at the bottom it says, "Your credit/debit card will be charged at the time of shipment." If my debit card was charged on 09/15 and the charge was cleared, does that mean my order has shipped and the AT&T website is lagging?
I ordered a 128 GB 6 Plus, slate gray at 2:10 AM Central. Got web confirm right away. but no email confirm til 9 AM when apparently my banks business hours were open and they accepted the $1 charge and then the charge for tax. And I got my first shipping confirm at 10 AM of the famous 10/31-11/11 date. I have moved up twice now and am at 10/2-10/13 date now. I suspect my delay in bank accepting/or whatever the charge til business day may have frozen my processing til that time and hence my plus may be one delayed till that date.
I've seen several references to Fort Worth being where ATT is shipping their phones from. If so, maybe that is why mine hasn't shown as shipped yet. ATT's status showed shipment predicted 9/17-9/18. Since I'm only a 3 hour drive from Fort Worth, they could scan it through the system as late as Thursday night, load the truck, and have it to my local location by 6am for delivery Friday. Or just deliver it on Friday. I've had out for delivery without it stopping at the local office for FedEx.
And, if that is the case, I may not even get the tracking notice until after pickup. I've had that happen before for other things I've ordered.

Yes, I ordered my 64gb Silver 6+ at 1:00 am pst due to both Apple and AT&T website issues and didn't get my text message until 5:00 pm the next day...
Just thought I would add my experience: I ordered an iPhone 6 64GB SG in store (I wanted it delivered to the store like last time as there is no one to accept/sign for it at my apt) at about 11:00am EST on 9/12. Ever since it has said on att.com that my shipping date was 9/23-10/2. I was checking almost obsessively until about 6:30pm Wednesday and no change appeared in the shipping date range. I randomly checked the status on the mobile app at about 8pm and it showed a tracking number which I immediately clicked on to reveal that my phone was picked up by FEDEX today and is in Ft. Worth scheduled for future delivery on Friday before 3:00pm. Until tonight there was absolutely no change to the order status except maybe the fact I did not notice the changes of "pending shipment" and "preparing to ship" which were there since at least Tuesday.

Beware of door thieves this Friday!!!!

be alert that many "thieves" are well aware of the release date of apple and the FEDEX/UPS delivery this Friday. This would be a big meal for them to spot doors for any delivery.
I would recommend watching your shipments/phone if possible, if that is not possible, then make an arrangement with the delivery carrier or the apartment complex office to hold your box.
Have a save delivery!!
