AT&T Pre-order status

Apple and 4-5 major carrier web sites had issues staying up to take preorders...concatenating them to a single site would be a bad idea in my opinion.

Common sense would dictate that should be the case. But with this clusterfark it makes one wonder.

For every screenshot that shows that there's at least one or more that shows the shipping dates posted on their website are accurate and to not expect your phone before that.

I don't believe that to be true, I believe we'll get it sooner rather than later, but it just goes to show no one, even the reps for AT&T, no any more than we do.

Space Gray 64gb iPhone 6

Hey everyone. Ordered my 6 in the evening on the 12th. Shipping date says 10/13-10/31 but I got a text on the 13th saying it has been processed and sent to the warehouse for shipment. Not sure I'll be in the first batch of deliveries, but I sure as hell hope so.

Went from 10/13-10/31, to saying backordered on sunday, then back to 10/13-10/31.

Any ideas?
 
Ordered the 6 plus 128gb space gray. Order status on the website says preparing to ship with a ship date of 10/13-10/22. However when I called the 877 number it says it's backordered. I'm so confused.
 
Ordered an iPhone 6+ 16gb space gray on Friday 9/12 @ 6:30am via my employers ATT Premier site.

Received an email statiing:

"Your Apple iPhone 6 Plus (16GB Space Gray) has been reserved and is expected to arrive on or around 11/9/2014-11/27/2014"

November? Boooo! Although hoping AT&T is sandbagging, I guess I'll be patient and wait....although I'll still check my order status 5x per day on the AT&T order status site.

Wish I knew someone working at my local office well enough to ask them if I can come in tomorrow when it gets there to pick it up! It's gonna kill me to see my phone sitting in my city for 2 days, right up the road in fact, knowing I can't walk in and just ask to pick it up. They would be like "how did you even get the tracking # before AT&T says they even shipped it".

As a credit to AT&T they clearly were anticipating this surge and partnered with shippers on this special project, to essentially "stage" iPhones in their destination days prior to the delivery date to ensure delivery. So I appreciate that. The fact my phone has already been shipped and will likely be to my hometown 2 days early while AT&T still conceals the tracking # and shipping confirmation shows the planning they did for this release, which is nice.
 
Question

So I ordered my 64g space gray around 8:00AM, so 8 hrs after ordering went live, my shipping date is 10/31/14-11/11/14......does that sound right? I ordered the day it went live and now its 6-7 weeks out?????

What's confusing? It is backordered. If something releases for retail sales on 9/19 and you aren't scheduled to get it until a month later, it means it's backordered.
 
Here's what I've been able to determine...

  • If you're getting the 6 or 6+ this week, consider yourself among the chosen few.
  • wireless.att.com and AT&T Premier pages are likely the best source of information for the rest of us. Their system is simply overloaded at the moment. The updates and date fluctuations are further proof of this. (Though my personal delivery estimate has stubbornly remained at 10/13 - 10/31.)
  • AT&T operators (phone and chat) know exactly what you know and are basically being told to say some variation of "sorry, we understand". Followed by "it's not our fault, we're doing what we can". They are also overworked and having to deal with many other frustrated, angry callers. (Remember, it's not the fault of the operator. Try to remember that if you somehow manage to get one of them on the line.)
  • The 877-782-8870 line seems to be the most accurate if you simply must call.
  • The 866-391-0749 line doesn't appear to have current, useful information. Unless it does, in which case it might.

So, there's that.

Idk a about the text. I'm on a business line but I'm in the exact same boat. Your post gives me hope in regards to text
 
AT&T status hasn't changed. Package on its way for 9/19 delivery. Just don't know if both iPhones are in the same shipment.

Just contacted a chat representative online to see if my phone would come on launch day; they said it would not.

But when I called they said it would.

?

Same situation as you, though I ordered earlier. The easy answer... "No one knows. And nothing is certain."

Then our phones are (or were) right next to each other on the way out of Memphis, mine also left at 9:09pm :cool:
