Here's what I've been able to determine...

  • If you're getting the 6 or 6+ this week, consider yourself among the chosen few.
  • wireless.att.com and AT&T Premier pages are likely the best source of information for the rest of us. Their system is simply overloaded at the moment. The updates and date fluctuations are further proof of this. (Though my personal delivery estimate has stubbornly remained at 10/13 - 10/31.)
  • AT&T operators (phone and chat) know exactly what you know and are basically being told to say some variation of "sorry, we understand". Followed by "it's not our fault, we're doing what we can". They are also overworked and having to deal with many other frustrated, angry callers. (Remember, it's not the fault of the operator. Try to remember that if you somehow manage to get one of them on the line.)
  • The 877-782-8870 line seems to be the most accurate if you simply must call.
  • The 866-391-0749 line doesn't appear to have current, useful information. Unless it does, in which case it might.

So, there's that.

We have these discussions every launch. Every year people complain about AT&T and every year they end up delivering the phones on launch day.

I think this is the 3rd or 4th launch I've done through AT&T (I've always ordered when the site goes live at 2CST) and I've never not gotten it on launch day.

The fact is that AT&T is getting inundated by paranoid, annoying people. Wait until the things actually ship later in the week before complaining about the possibility of not getting them. But saying that only a "chosen few" will get them is a huge exaggeration.

Hey everyone. Ordered my 6 in the evening on the 12th. Shipping date says 10/13-10/31 but I got a text on the 13th saying it has been processed and sent to the warehouse for shipment. Not sure I'll be in the first batch of deliveries, but I sure as hell hope so.

Went from 10/13-10/31, to saying backordered on sunday, then back to 10/13-10/31.

Any ideas?

I got the exact same thing! However, my original shipping date was late October and into November when I ordered right after 12am! Then a day or so it jumped to 10/13 to 10/22...and I got the text saying it was being shipped... I have no clue whats going on lol... I have ordered phones on launch before from att some flagship Android phones and I forgot if I ordered the 4S through them.... Either way their shipping info is usually never right! I also ordered a screen protector and case and got an email last night saying it's back ordered but through the site it's pending... So who knows lol!!

That's me as well. I get a tad nervous every now and then but so far I'm not stressing it.

Same here. Just called the 866 number and was on hold for a good hour before speaking to a rep. She was pleasant, but had no more information than what was available on the website. UPS shows nothing, either.

Just canceled my ATT order...I ordered successfully on their site at 3:04am on launch night...... They sent confirmation of 3-4 weeks for my order..

They then sent me an email saying they had issues processing my order (this has happened at every launch that I've purchased from them....I only remember after making that same mistake....probably because their site is the only one up and running at launch). I spent the last 5 days trying to reach them...45 calls....three lengthy wait times....agents without a clue....disconnections....

Today I was told 11/9-11/27 is my window for receipt.

No thanks.....
Went to the Apple Store and ordered the same phone with shipping on 10/11....come on AT&T!!!!....

Apple screwed the carriers, but the carriers also screwed us....

Yeah, I hear ya, but still does not explain why some folks that ordered hours before that got November ship dates...

How could somebody have ordered "hours before" 3:45 EST. At most, you could've ordered 1 hour before this. Only a handful of people appeared to have done this (of those that filled out the google doc survey).

My prediction is the first wave of 6+ will go out 10/2-10/13. A few lucky ducks will get theirs before (on launch day). I am among the 10-2/10/13 range, and I would be shocked if it came a whole lot sooner. I think at best, end of September.

----------

I ordered my Space Gray 128 GB 6 Plus at 11:57 PM PDT on September 11 with an estimated ship date of 10/02/14-10/13/14.

According to the responses to your survey, people who ordered 6 Pluses after me are already receiving tracking numbers. My status is still "preparing shipment."

According to the survey, 16 people have tracking numbers. Virtually everyone else (516) do not.

i thought the online orders for carriers ship from apple stock technically not att. the stores unless a company store usually get <10 on launch day.

Ordered the 6 plus 128gb space gray. Order status on the website says preparing to ship with a ship date of 10/13-10/22. However when I called the 877 number it says it's backordered. I'm so confused.

I am in exactly the same position as you. Same iPhone model, same dates on the web and same message on 877.

In my experience the shipping dates are usually correct.

What sucks is that preorders get pushed to the back of the line and people who go to the store on release day will likely get a phone while preorders wait days...weeks...months..

They can increase sale counts that way. Count sales for inventory that doesn't exist yet. (Presales) and count the sales for in store sales.

I not saying no preorders will get filled on opening day, but I'm guessing most won't. Especially 6 pluses.

From my past experience this is not the case. Most pre orders get filled. Especially if they were ordered within 24 hrs. Of the midnight pre order start. I started pre ordering with the iPhone 4 then 5. Both have been almost identical to what's happening now. I ordered the 5 mid afternoon the day after pre order start and got my phone on launch.

I ordered 2 phones, and i have 5 pending charges 2 $1, 1 $371 , 1 $299.99, 1 $381.. This was ordered thru premier site. Hopefully gets fixed with the right amount once it ships. #

lol this thread is so dramatic.

i personally know 2 people who ordered 6+ (not sure of configuration) and will be shipped for launch day (according to them)

there is a small majority of the 4 million people who pre-ordered iphones on here, to go as far as to say that people are screwed lol.

I don't know if this is because I am in the premier program or not, but it is showing 64GB Gold 6+ as shopping in 7-11 days for me.

Yes looks that way. Mine is headed east from Memphis.

I'm just a state over in NC, so my phone will probably be here today.... and it will sit for the next 3 days half a mile up the road from my house. UPS says it's next day air, it left a state over last night, I bet when I check this evening it will show it's here in my town.

What are the chances it will slip up and get sorted for delivery. If I get my phone delivered earlier than Friday you can bet I will be posting pictures and I'm planning to upload an unboxing on YT anyway.

My new case for it will be here today :apple:

The $1 charges make sense, but I don't understand how ordering two phones caused you 3x charges of $300+

I preordered on 9/12 and was charged tax only, but I was also screwed because my Upgrade from my iPhone 5 (2yrs in November) still forced me to use the NEXT plan to upgrade but I don't care. My company pays my cell bill, but still... at any rate, I got charged $52.50 for the tax but I'm guessing you paid for new contract phones. What does your receipt say you were being charged for?

Wish I knew someone working at my local office well enough to ask them if I can come in tomorrow when it gets there to pick it up! It's gonna kill me to see my phone sitting in my city for 2 days, right up the road in fact, knowing I can't walk in and just ask to pick it up. They would be like "how did you even get the tracking # before AT&T says they even shipped it".

As a credit to AT&T they clearly were anticipating this surge and partnered with shippers on this special project, to essentially "stage" iPhones in their destination days prior to the delivery date to ensure delivery. So I appreciate that. The fact my phone has already been shipped and will likely be to my hometown 2 days early while AT&T still conceals the tracking # and shipping confirmation shows the planning they did for this release, which is nice.

Imagine being in the business that actually chartered the phones from China. I don't know how much we moved, but we sure as heck helped with the charters. And I live in Memphis to boot! I know my phone is here! Just give it to me!

i don't understand either. on my confirmation it states $299.99 + applicable taxes. so the $371 makes sense the rest i don't know. i talked with premier rep and they said they only see 2 orders so 1 charge should drop once they ship. hopefully they are correct.

Mine says 1.00lb for the 6.

Uh oh....your phone is probably missing some parts.

I ordered 4 different phones for different lines on our plan. 1 of those was 128gb 6+ Silver. That phone listed as 10/13-10/22 as well. Order was finalized by 3:45 am (EST)... and was the last of the 4 orders I placed (thats the timestamp on the PDF I made of the order confirmation page)

I think this is the 'second bucket' of 6+ deliveries, with those who ordered between 2:45 - 3:15 EST getting shipment dates of 10/2-10/13 and then our bucket of 10/13-10/22.

I ordered my 6+ 64 GB at 3:40 am EST and I have the 10/2-10/13 ship date. I think your time theory has been proven wrong.

So, there's that.

Second number agrees with what I find on the website and email confirm. First number agrees with nothing and says backordered (website showing 10/2-10/13).

oh jeez, leave the reps alone already. they know as much as you do at this point. You'll get more information reading these forums than from a rep... I'm sure they are annoyed by now getting bombarded by geeks who can't live their lives because they don't know the exact minute they are getting their iPhone.

Does posting multiple times in this thread equate geek status as well because........

;)

One can only hope at this point.:)

This is pure speculation but, the people getting their UPS tracking numbers seem to all be coming from China. I just got off the phone with a premiere rep and he said both my orders were completed and in the warehouse awaiting shipment. My order time was prior to launch like you. It is leading me to believe that they did in fact have some units on hand and the later orders are coming from straight from China. It actually eases my mind to believe this even if it's false haha. Hey but it is a working theory.

Agreed. After seeing the many replies to my post, I think the only theory that still works is "who the f*@k knows"

;)

Apple iPhone 6 Plus (64GB Space Gray)

Preorder Processing

Expected Ship Date: 10/31/2014 To 11/11/2014

:(

I ordered mine about 6:50AM EST. I also ordered my wife a iPhone 6 and she will get hers on launch...

Just had chat rep complain to me that he can't get a shipping date for his iPhones. Not sure if it's true. But a good empathy ploy either way.

just to change the tone for a moment lol.

We know that the Apple iPhone, like most of the company’s products, is produced in China, and that it must, somehow, be shipped across the world to the many millions of customers. However, it’s not often that we get a chance to take a look inside a Boeing 747 carrying thousands of units at a time, but thanks to a reader over at MacRumors, we can now gawk at what 195,000 iPhones look like when shipping into Alaska.

With a total weight of 256,000 lbs, this is certainly not a light load, and although you cannot see the contents because everything is obscured under tarpaulin, the fact that this bundle arrived early on September 15th means that it’s likely to be serving many of the lucky few who’ll be in receipt of their iPhone 6 / 6 Plus on the September 19th release date.

What if the shipper has issues? Snow storm, hurricane, nuclear holocaust? It could happen!
