Do you still have that backordered line item (says something like: VAR INTANG1)?
I had that earlier this morning but now it has vanished...hoping that's a good thing. Does anyone know what that meant?

I had it for a while, but now my status looks like yours. Some have said that indicates your order has been paired with an actual phone (once the back order thing disappears).
When is your date
When is your date
When I got my first confirmation email at 3:01am EDT (basically right when I ordered), it just said 14-21 biz days. The order status page says: 10/13/14 - 10/22/14* (with the asterisk saying that is estimated).
In previous years, this meant a specific phone had been pulled and assigned to your order. It means you should be getting it on launch day.
This may be a 6+ issue. Both the 6's I ordered from AT&T show 9/19 delivery dates (at least as of now).
That's why it's always better to preorder from Apple.
Carriers are flaky with preorders.
That may sound good but Apple was still down when I finished my order for two iPhone 6 units.
Apple did not do so well.
VAR INTANG1 is Chinese for grab your ankles Yankee imperialist dog.
You should be just fine.
hmmm, my only guess is there was a que and they just starting tossing dates at people.. least lets hope
Yea that's what I'm hoping. Someone one here said they spoke with AT&T on the phone and said the dates are just there for "expectation management" and are subject to change, so we'll see.
I'm on hold now with AT&T.. have been for 65 minutes. lol

My understanding of the way things typically go, if you don't get a phone from the first batch, it will be a while. Probably more than 21-28 days. So, in a way, the 21-28 doesn't make a lot of sense standing alone, so it may not be worth too much weight. It may just be an artifact of AT&T's inventory system or the like.
