I think Apple will make "one" device that will work on either network.....and isn't apple in control of price with all of their hardware. I will believe it when I see it. I have been on both networks and they both have their pros and cons
Once the exclusivity runs out I would really love to see which provider is the best for the iPhone and how they compare in certain situations.
No one is forcing you to read these Verizon-related posts. Anytime there's a new one you voluntarily jump in and pound your chest "There's not going to be a Verizon iphone". You don't seem to like these threads, so why don't you just ignore them.

I'm all for supporting our Canadian companies, but I really dislike my Blackberries. both my Torch and my 9700.
It is nice to see AT&T to focus on something other than blackberry and iPhone.
If Verizon offers up the iPhone, I'm all over it like a fly on a hot turd. I live in San Diego and AT&T service sucks here. Anyone who says otherwise is being less than honest. I have to use a Microcell at home to get any service at all and I get no less than 20 dropped calls a day.

Analyst have been singing this song for over 4 years, can we give it a rest?
If Apple does not get onto other providers as quickly as possible (within six months IMO) they are going to get their lunch handed to them by Google. Currently they have access to only 25%ish of the market. The other 75% want a smartphone and many will buy them this holiday season and have chosen a platform.
You might say, oh well, Apple just wants to be the best, not the biggest, but there are a lot of advantages that come with being the biggest. I love the Mac, but one of the reasons I have to carry a PC (or run Boot Camp) is because not being the biggest has led to lots of software not coming out for the mac. They do not want developers making products for Droid and porting to the iPhone, they want that to be the primary development platform and the only way that happens is for you to be the biggest.
Lose that and eventually you may start losing the software that makes the phone so special. You also lose compatibility. I don't use keynote because I can't guarantee other people have it (most don't). Exporting to Power Point is a poor solution as Keynote doesn't export fonts for example. So Apple, please be the best, but also try to be the biggest.

I doubt you will see that anytime soon. I'll bet Verizon will actually raise their rates for iPhone contracts. If three and a half years of people bitching about AT&T and pent up demand will drive people to Verizon, of course they're going to maximize profit.I'm really hoping to see some competition between the two to possibly lower prices a bit in the plans.
+1
Apple very much risks becoming irrelevant if they don't get onto alternative carriers, especially the largest carrier in the US, Verizon. Android activations in 2010 already exceed iphone activations.
