I just finished speaking to them and A&T confirmed that pre-order will start at 4 a.m. EST on June 15 - she still had no confirmation about white piece

I was also told 4am EST june 15.

The CSR told me she had no knowledge that the white iphone 4 would be unavailable – they've been told the white and black 16 and 32gb models will be available at launch.

Ok people, after having been through 3 iPhone launches now before this one, how long is it going to take everyone to realize that you DO NOT go to AT&T to get your iPhone at launch. AT&T always has severely limited supplies, usually somewhere in the neighborhood of 5-50 phones per store, depending on the traffic of the store. Apple allocates over 1000 phones per store for launch day. I myself learned this lesson during the 3G launch, and then watched it happen again during the 3GS launch.

Once again, go STRAIGHT to your local Apple store, or order it online from Apple. Do NOT go to AT&T, or those other stores. Do not pass GO. Do not collect $200. (except from eBay for your old phone)

Duh? Well said!

Read all my posts, I have been here since June 2007, EVERY single post I have ever made has been true. I don't post that much maybe 25 to 30 times, I ususally only post to clear the air. Just don't be disappointed when you go to an AT&T store tomorrow and you CAN'T order a white one...

Ok, I'll take your word for it. Although, I won't be disappointed because I will be pre-ordering and picking up from an Apple store. Unless I go with the black versus white, dunno, haven't been able to make up my mind yet.

Nice post.

Except for those of us who have FAN discounts -- which Apple has been notoriously clueless about dealing with. Any process which requires you to cancel a discount and then call back later to get it again (possibly losing it for a few billing cycles) is moronic.

I'd much rather go to an AT&T store and avoid the "first day zoo" that an Apple store inevitably turns into.

Ok, so maybe AT&T has no white iPhones for launch, as well as some other phone carriers around the world, but how do we know apple will have them then? No one has heard anything from them yet. I mean, everyone is assuming that apple will have the white one available for pre-ordering tomorrow, but we don't really know that for sure.

If that was the case I think that steve would have said that during the announcement, ala the ipad 3G.

Called Apple they said they will be selling white and AT&T will not.
He also said "the party starts at 9am est"

Which company do AT&T, Radio Shack, WalMart, and Best Buy get their iPhones from?

Answer: Apple

So, which company has the most iPhones available of any retailer on the planet?

Answer: It starts with an "A" and ends with an "e" and there two "p's" and one "l" in the middle.

I have a FAN discount. *** Television Group. Never had a problem ever. I pre-order on apple.com, comes in the mail, activate it via iTunes, like white on rice........minus the first year when the FAN discount didn't apply to the iPhone 1st generation.

Just remember, AT&T works for YOU, not the other way around. You tell them what you want, and when, and the customer is always right. (Especially business customers!)

+1!!!

If you order from apple and have it delivered to your house, how do you activate it? Just hook up into itunes? I Know at AT&T they copied your SIM card for you, but at home you can't do that can you? I really want to pre-order with apple but I don't know about activating it at home. Thanks!

The problem isn't about activating it....the problem is getting the phone. Order it. Have it in hand. Activating it can come later. The hardest part is obtaining the phone.....that is what sells out....

And, you can activate it all on iTunes. If there is a problem, just bring it into the store.

Really? A retailer deserves a hell storm because they can't get a product from a particular manufacturer?

It's this type of entitlement sentiment amongst customers that makes me glad I don't work in retail.

i like the "blah blah blah" helps to take it out of context, what I was saying is, this would be such an irresponsible move for a company to make, have no notification that a VERY popular model will not be available, when the manufacturer said it will be.

I have worked retail, i know what it's like, and i feel for the workers that will have to deal with the madness tomorrow, even if it's not true it's still going to be madness.

Not True

I called my local AT&T store (Burbank, CA) and they said "let me check" and then a minute later told me they will have both white and black.

I don't have an apple store (Bakersfield, CA) so shouldni just ore order from apple? Will I get it shipped on the 24th or the 25th? I want a white one and I don't want to wait until "later this summer." So those of you that have done this please feel free to respond because I don't know how the preorders work.
