AT&T Says iPhone 4 to Be Initially Available Only in Black?

I called the Apple store in Colorado Springs, and they said they haven't heard anything about the white version not being available on launch day.

My guess is the white iPhone will be available for pre-order through Apple. But only time will tell... so, we should know tomorrow morning.
 
I must have called five local AT&T stores and ALL of em said, "uhhh, that is not true and I haven't heard that." "We will be having pre-orders for white."

But now I am going to be afraid to pre-order the white just because what if these employees are just not informed and I pre-order and come 24th it says that I won't have mine for another month? Think I could cause hell and switch it back to getting a black that day then?

when u place ur order it will give u delivery date estimate, so u will know then if it will only be available later

Trust me I did not call them JUST FOR this, I had other questions I had to call in for anyway. But I wanted to post this FWIW. And while I do agree with you these reps rarely know much, I would think, and hope, that less than 24 hours before a luanch of a major product, that they should have SOME knowledge about it.

This just reeks of hoax to me to be honest. I just don't understand why people create this ridiculousness just to mess with people. Whoever it is should get a life and a new hobby. :p

This is what I am worried about!
What if I order a white through ATT ( which I have to, don't ask) and they take my order and now my eligibility is used up and then they notify my that my white iPhone has been backordered! :eek::eek::eek:

they do it because they love to see people like us (excited about the iphone) go crazy over starting stuff like that.it must be amusing to them..not so much to us:mad:

I would think that Apple would let you know at the time you pre order the white version if it was not going to be available until a month later. This is what they did for the ipad 3G. They let everybody know upfront that the 3G version would not be available till late April.

I hope, at least, they follow the same logic with this product launch.
 
This is definitely true here in Japan:

Only black will be available at launch. According to the CEO of Softbank (Japan's AT&T), White will be available "later".
 
So if I go to my local AT&T store and they are saying we can pre-order both, think we should just order black anyway so we don't get disappointed for release day.

I would be SOOOOOOOOOOOOO pissed if I went to get my phone or heard that white was back ordered. I would demand for me to get a black phone that day.

I don't hate the black either so I'm going to try and look up a few pictures and convince myself i want that one instead, haha. Although, white looks AMAZING and wish I could get that one.
 
Well, my sister-in-law's baby cousin Tracy who dates a pizza delivery man that delivers to a guy who's wife's brother is a janitor for a local ATT store and he said they are going to carry the White iPhone 4's. :D
 
for the record someone needs to teach at&t grammar. "white will be available at a later date"
 
i'm baffled at why this is such a huge deal...they might not have a color, either wait for the one you want or get the available one, it's not that hard of a decision...will you not be the coolest kid on the street anymore? this isn't a life altering decision. some of you act like you are 5 again and someone just stole your bag of candy.

this is a material object that people are getting upset over, some people really need to get out and enjoy life a little bit more.
 
I'll be buying the black version so it doesn't concern me much. I have a feeling if this rumor is true (we'll find out soon I guess) it is more so because they feel the black iphone is in higher demand then the white and they need to devote more of their production capabilities on the black.
 
Well if Apple doesn't carry it in white at launch then I'll wait. I've had the black forever and I really like the way the cases look when on the white ones.

well theres one on the black one too, but it just blends in with the back way better which makes it practically invisible but it bothers me on the white one. i jus want the white one because of the lack of fingerprints and scratches but eh i dunno anymore...it is just plain ol ugly
 
Just went into ATT at Somerset Mall and they said they just got the memo that there will be NO white iPhones at ATT. They confirmed it.
